I used 12800 when shooting soccer match sometime ago in low light situation the result is not pretty bad, but need more editing in LR.
Hello, I have a question, I need to use the camera to a video switcher, does it work well with the hdmi output? And how I can change in the menu so I can watch. Thank you and nice video!
Why is my menu different than yours? New purchase straight out of box and was wanting to review but cant follow due to menu being different
Edward, that is a darn good question. There should be no differences, as all Canon R50s are the same. Unless you live in a different region than the US. I will reach out to my Canon rep now and see if she has an answer.
I figured it out, turn the PASM dial to M. I set the menu up from manual mode. If you are in program mode or uto+ mode, the menu will look different.
So have you tried to use the built-in mic or something like a shotgun mic on the 3.5mm jack, when connected via USB? I'm not getting any audio throughput. I can see the levels flashing on the camera, but no sound reaches the computer.
Canon's literature says the R50 supports UVC and UAC. But I left a message and a Canon person said that the USB does not transfer audio. That doesn't make sense. Either he is wrong, or the Canon USA literature is wrong. I've been trying to find out if anyone has made it work. I have a situation where I would really like to use a shotgun mic.
Hey Rock, this is straight from my Canon rep. I hope it is helpful for you. Thanks for watching and asking your question.
So… via Canon’s EOS WebCam Utility.. there is No audio via the USB cable. Audio is handled via the computer via an onboard mic or external USB mic.
Through an HDMI Capture card, and HDMI cable out of the camera.. and into the computer (via usb capture card) there Is audio through the camera/HDMI Capture Card. Audio can be, onboard camera mics, microphone 3.5mm jack on the camera or Multi-Hotshoe (ie R50 etc) or.. external via Computer.
Canon Stand alone camera.. on the newer Canon Cameras (pretty much all of the camera with the new Multi-Hotshoe) you can switch the USB in the cameras menu (see attached menu shots).. then.. the R50 (and newer EOS R Cameras) can be plugged into the computer, via just the one USB cable. And you now get video (WITHOUT the Webcam software) and Audio through the camera. Audio can be via the onboard Canon mics, 3.5mm Mic Jack or Multi-Hotshoe.
In your software program (ie Microsoft Teams).. you’ll have to switch the Camera input to “Canon Digital Camera” and the Audio Input also to “Canon Digital Camera”. See Screenshots (Teams and Teams 2). Under the Audio Menu of Teams, there won’t be an option for WebCam Utility.. hence the external mics.
If you'd like to email me, I can send you the screenshots.

OK purple menu # 2 Preview AF what's it for you don't say? Let me say thsi Disable it, makes your lens focus all the time without pressing the shutter button half way. So this is making your lens work hard and draining your battery. You don't really notice it with a 18-45, 24-105. But put an 85mm F2 on it and it will drive you nuts as i found out, i strongly recommend you disable this function
Hey Mike, thanks for taking the time to watch and leave your comments. Both are appreciated. And yes, preview AF is a battery drain for sure and should be disabled on any camera.
Bro which flash is comportable in canon r50
Great question, my friend. As of now, and this is straight from my Canon rep, the only compatible Canon Flash is the EL-5.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask your question.
