just an observation for your next build.. hinge the cover on the other side so if you have to pull over to the shoulder of the road and get something out of your trailer your not at risk of getting run over.
What I would give to spend a week with you troy in your shop and learn everything I could... Great work as always troy. I have pretty much all of your products. Thanks again from Texas.
That is beautiful mate. A lot more simple and nicer than anything else I’ve seen on UA-cam. I’ve been watching and looking for ideas as I’m looking at building my own from ground up. I’d do the same as yours but I’d make the top so it goes straight up and down with a canvas extension that folds out and ditch the roof top tent. But I really do love the build.
Nice ! I’ve been kicking around the thought of building a lid , I’m building one now , you just happen to give me a great idea ! You did great work my friend !!
Outstanding work from Swag! On a separate note, I do watch a lot of UA-cam and I have noticed a lot of appearances from your portable bandsaw base. I bought mine 5 years ago, I use that bandsaw more that my stand up bandsaw. That’s been my go to! 😊
Holy Awesomesauce!!! Nice work :) I want to make something like this but, alas, I'm perpetually broke LOL. However, with some smart planning I bet I could make such a trailer happen regardless. Looks like it'd be a blast to use for family adventures.
THIS is exactly what I want to have done to my M-416 Jeep Trailer. I could use some advice to get all of the items needed and some plans. I am a disabled veteran and don't know how much I can do or if I should get it done by someone I can trust. I got seriously burned financially on my Jeep rebuild and it cost me thousands unnecessarily. A very painful experience in trust, I can tell you. Any help or guidance would certainly be appreciated. I would like to see the tent deployed. I like that it is on the ground since I can't see the wife and I climbing up on the top to sleep!
What do you think about using 16 gauge with 3/4" 16 gauge square tube for a skeleton for the box of of a trailer like this? Strong enough? I have an extra sheet of that and plenty of 3/4" tube I could use to start building my trailer.
Lookin good. BTW for those who dont know, some of his products are upgrades to harbor freight tools to make them usable. Not to mention his prices are reasonable on top of that. So buy a cheap tool, upgrade with his parts and still be better than some tools costing 4x as much off the start. Would be interested in some of the cad files in 3ds format for the trailer itself. I had the same trailer and my YJ I made in 3ds format and converted to a couple games but lost it all in a hard drive failure.
I have one of Canadian M-101CDN trailers, which is essentially the US 416 style. Where can I procure the lid like you have? I didn't see it one on the website.
About how much do you think all of this would cost? I have an M105 that is sitting at my ranch that i only use once in a while and this is a good idea for me an my son for camping trips.
everything looks great but I wonder how your coupler has held up over the years now? turn left right and the up down pivit but you didn't have any compensation for twist jeep leaning left and trailer leaning right
+johnny bigrigger i believe it has a bolt threaded into the tongue. so that bushing and bracket is bolted to the receiver and there is a bold going from the bushing to the tongue. i dont know if i would want a single 5/8 or 3/4 bolt towing my trailer.
I’ve seen this video before but I forgot to comment. I have a similar trailer built in 1946 per the title. The lid is heavy AF and I only have one shock on it. It’ll go up with some muscle and stay sitting up but I’d really like to add another support lift. The issue is on the rear of the trailer, the previous owner put a swing out tailgate and there is also a water line in the area where I would l likely need to put a piece of C-channel to attach a support to. I’ll be posting a video soon with all the features on mine. I need ya’ll to critique it and tell me good or bad what I should change, add, remove completely, etc....
I have an opportunity to buy the same military trailer but I figured I'd put a permanent cover on with a rack and rooftop tent and a cargo slide in the bed.
scooter2099 1st) How about you build a better a trailer and then, post a video about said trailer. 2nd) I would suggest that the owner grab all of the stuff thast he needs before erecting their pop up tent. Fyi..
being that its a rooftop tent and he can lift while its not setup so he should be able to lift it up when its setup being that there is no poles on the ground only a ladder so unless someone was laying in the tent at the time i dont see a problem with it
To Eric S. Now are you a speech therapist because to comment on such a small issue you must be perfect. Ah da hum maybe he should quit breathing while he is at is. Cheers
I live off-grid and this'll make a good backup power for my cabin.
Great job on the build. Very nice. It's not easy to build everything on your own without a shop and all the proper tools. I commend you for your work.
The 44” long “shotgun storage” was ironically awesome as you went through the features.
That is pretty slick. I am one of your customers having bought a portable band saw stand for my Dewalt portaband and I really like it.

outstanding observation.
Very nice build. Love the lid storage idea.

Great work as always troy. I have pretty much all of your products. Thanks again from Texas.
Still wearing your SWAG on my front diff cover on my squirrel powered yj . Love the tailgate conversion kit you offer .
Great job. I've just started on my own Bantam trailer build. Very much like what I have planned. Thanks for posting.

Legit build man. I like it!
Sweet build, very nice job.
Real nice build would like to have seen more of the jeep looks like a real good match nicely done
@Newt0040
I never did get the empty trailer to the scales. The guys I built it for said all loaded up full of gear for travel it was ~1,540 lbs.
It was made out of 12 gauge, however the 2nd one I built was out of 14 gauge which was much lighter and worked just as well.
Troy
Not bad at all. Quite ingenious!
Awesome work. Something I'm looking to try my hand at building for my 84 k5 blazer
Very nice job! Love your ideas...
Very nice work sir, I think it will look great with the bed liner finish on the whole trailer.
I really enjoyed your video. What a nice build.
Really really nice trailer. Great job
this is so sick! i want one!
Sweet trailer. Nice work
good to see camera man for blair witch movie is still filming
That is so kool. I love it!!
Holy Awesomesauce!!! Nice work :) I want to make something like this but, alas, I'm perpetually broke LOL. However, with some smart planning I bet I could make such a trailer happen regardless. Looks like it'd be a blast to use for family adventures.
Nice, want one!
Interesting trailer modifications, Cheers :-)
Nice work!
Well done Troy.
Love the fuel/ water storage
Wow, well done sir.
I seen a few useful points for my trailer I'm about to start building.Thank you for posting this video
Tik tok shows and fun videos
How heavy is the trailer now after all the new metal work?
Nice work.
Nice trailer, must build one for my Wrangler also...
My compliments, sir....
amazing trailer
Great video, and I really like the design. Can you please provide the part numbers for the gas springs and the mounting brackets?
impressive
this thing is NICE! nuff said...
Handsome sidekick ya got there

Nice combo
that is some tasty fabrication work

Very nicely done. I wonder what was the end weight and did the lifts hold the extra 210 pounds of weight?
amazing
Simple and very nice 👍
Any chance on more info on the tent? We have a similar style trailer that I've wanted to add a tent to for a few years now. Thanks!

+Medium Man Sorry for your loss buddy. Maybe you can get her back up again.
Cool! TNX!
nice!!!
thats all kinds of badass tho

what was the final weight? or did you get around to it. im looking for a trailer to do a winter project like this before next season
what thickness sheet did you use for the lid?
Do you sell that trailer hitch assembly or have a video on it
Did your five lug wheels fit the original bolt pattern?
Nice rig. Welds are nothing to write home about. Retired pipefitter-32 years.
Your a Good Craftsman😁Michigan
To Jesse B -- could it be the trailer is going to be mainly used in a country with left drive lanes unlike the U.S. -- just a thought......Cheers
Do you sell that hitch or have a video on how you made it?
i like it a good tough trailer
You have more photos or videos of this trailer. I really like it, I would like to make one. Thank you
I'd suggest getting some paint or Clearcoat on some of that raw metal...excellent work.
I saw this video when you first released it and I loved it then. I still do.
Question: how do you access the storage when the tent is erected?
I believe that is a..... "You don't"
exelente.
About how much do you think all of this would cost? I have an M105 that is sitting at my ranch that i only use once in a while and this is a good idea for me an my son for camping trips.
what would a trailer set up this way painted 97 TJ White cost someone?
and it weighs nearly as much as the vehicle towing it?
Ben fatto!
how big is the box
Amazing work man, but get a go pro or something because the shake makes it more difficult to watch. Especially to focus on something in the video
Swag badge because I CAN🤭😂 🤟
I want one.
try painting your welds cos they are already rusting.
everything looks great but I wonder how your coupler has held up over the years now? turn left right and the up down pivit but you didn't have any compensation for twist jeep leaning left and trailer leaning right

What kind of trail you going to be on to be able to pull a trailer. I think they call those dirt roads not trails. Looks good though.
Isn't that hitch missing an axis of travel?
Well Built,.!/!
Thank you very much!
People find fault in others hard work like there is a prize for it at the end.
👏👌
Troy, approximately how much would a build like this cost, considering I provide the trailer?
Courtney Daniels more than you could afford kid
Ehh, I'm not doing too bad at 31. ;)
what do you charge to build one if trailer is supplied
SHOTGUNJIM1 I was just thinking that. No one got back to you huh
How much?
I liking this trailer. Almost want I want to make for myself. The closest I have have seen as of yet though.
the original trailers bodys were 16 ga, so Im betting you'd be just fine.
I know this is really old video but I'm wondering about hinges... trying to find where to get some heavy duty hinges in a hurry
Son gives. A size comparison
So .... how do you get into the trailer tray when the tent is out ????? Sorry, but this is a silly set up
- seen much better set ups
I agree. Also, it must be heavier than sin with all that unnecessary metalwork.

Those Jack's suck. You're trailer will still be all wiggly when up in the tent!
cool but looks like it needs some paints
+thunder Paint is nice but rhino lining it is better.
Rust rules!
And wins in the end...
You sure fuck that up
