  • The Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a favorite amongst beginner bikes all over the world. In the US however, people have many worries about the Ninja 400 on the highway but I put those rumors to rest in this video! I take the Ninja 400 on the highway and test it myself!

I did 6500 miles on my 400 with a lot of highway miles. I weigh around 160. The bike is totally fine. Awesome for the money. I recently upgraded to a z900 and I love how smooth it is. I enjoy having more power for the highway.

@@ASOMAX If you do plenty of cruising at >80 mph., the Ninja 650 would be a better choice. The full fairing will protect you from the wind. I do ride a Triple 765 RS, but for high speed, highway cruising, I'd choose Ninja 650. Nevertheless, the Ninja 400 is entirely adequate for highway at 70 mph. (sane speed). I own all three.

Yes it can do it, but if you're going to ride on the highway alot it makes sense to go for a bigger cc bike, 650-800 or more. Lower revs at same speed will make it more comfortable. Although you need to be much more experienced to ride those bigger bikes, 400 is a good starter.

    • @BryantintheMidfield
      @BryantintheMidfield  2 роки тому +9

Agreed! I went with a 650 as a beginner because I commute pretty far and do alot of riding. Helps to have the extra power for sure!

    • @lvinsea

absolutely agreed, a bigger bike will be a lot more relaxed on the highway for both the rider and the bike! Plus a lot of reserve of power when needed.

Ninja 400 and Z400 are fantastic bikes.
They are constantly underestimated because they are "small cc bikes," but the reality is that these are nothing like the Ninja 250s from the past.
With the old 250, you'd be wringing its neck getting it to 90mph; in the 400, you could be into triple digits with a bit of room to spare (tops out around 117 from my experience).
These bikes will absolutely rip until 80 without much sign of slowing down. In fact, in the quarter mile, they compare similarly to modern sports cars (Think Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Charger Scat Pack, etc.).
So while they certainly lag behind 600s, the 400 bikes from Kawasaki would satisfy all but the most thrill-seeking of motorcycle riders.

Aside from a larger windscreen (which does make a noticeable difference at high speeds.) I weigh 210Lbs and my stock 2018 Ninja 400 can easily hit 185kmh (115mph) on a fairly windy day. Not to mention it quickly accelerates up to about 175kmh (108mph) where wind resistance and getting past power band slows acceleration.
I have yet to push it past 192kmh (119mph) as i usually run out of room on the highw-i mean.. track (i totally don't do anything past posted speed limits on public roads at all ;)

For like $1000 you can get a full exhaust, velocity stacks/filter and a tune. That’ll bump it up 10 whp with at least 2-3 whp across the entire power band lower in the RPM’s. On a small bike you really feel power gains like that going from 44 whp to 54... With gearing added with those mods it’ll do almost 130 mph GPS tested…

Honestly i have to disagree. One of the reasons I like a bike with some power is in the event the people around me start road raging at each other or just generally driving badly. I want a bike that has enough power and gearing to quickly get out of the situation. Based on this video, it seems like the ninja 400 just doesnt have that kind of power, especially on some of the higher speed limit highways.

Unless you plan on riding for super long at high speeds and dont care about your safety, get something bigger.. but realistically speaking the 400 is just about right for anyone if you ask me..

I think a confortable price could be anywhere from 4-5 k for a clean one. Tbh though, if its your first bike and you want a 400 for sure, look for a dropped one for around 3-4k. Make sure its mechanically sound but looks dont really matter when youre learning!

I bought a new r6 back in 2003 for the same price as this.
    Crazy.
    3 years later, i would buy a new r1 for 12k.
Im glad i did but eventually youre going to die.
6 years on the streets was plenty for me!
