As a proud owner of 2021 Diavel 1260s I’ll say its the most exciting bike I’ve owned even compared with other Ducati’s I’ve had, love it and its bada$$ looks & power, I ALWAYS get compliments when I stop somewhere & on the rode. Have had no mechanical issues at all so far, taken it on many long trips & always come back safely without any issues. Just for reference I’m 6ft & have no issue with the foot peg position & my knees aren’t bad, seat is super comfy, thanks for covering this.
I'm glad you're enjoying your Diavel - it truly is a beast. A cool beast. Let's hope it does that great forever. It matters how we take care of our bikes I believe. If they get love, they're happy. All the best!
@@mikeworkman1759 Not really. Bought the first one to try, liked it. So updated it to an ex demo with just 100 miles and 2 years warranty, then had an accident on a different bike got paid out so fancied a brand new one.😎
Great video. My 1260 is my daily rider to work and such.Love it!I was picking up some Chimay Grand Reserve at a local store last week and came out to several people taking pictures of my bike. That's a nice ego boost :-) Trading in my Harley for this bike was the best thing I have ever done.Well, not the best, but close.
The XDiavel is a thing of beauty. Naked bikes have always been what I’m drawn to, however I have an extremely bad right knee that can only bend around 50° (long story but it’s due to early rheumatoid arthritis which started in my teens). Until I can get it fully replaced, there’s just no way for me to ride a sports bike or traditional naked bikes where the pegs are in the standard position. I’d never been a massive cruiser fan but I got my first bike in 2015 being the first run Kawasaki Vulcan S which was as close to a mid-tier naked bike performance and looks as I could find whilst having the forward pegs meaning I could actually ride the thing. My tastes have evolved over the past years and have learned to love cruisers especially since many new models (Indian Scout/Bobber, Triumph Bobber, Victory Octane etc.) are pushing further away from the old chrome Harleys. All that said; for someone like myself the XDiavel is like a dream come true as it’s basically the looks and performance of a high quality modern naked bike...but I can actually ride it in encumbered with my shit knee 😂.
Thanks for sharing and the story. Sometimes we have to find some compromises and choose out of certain, specific options. People with 4 kids cannot drive only a Porsche 911. I was glad to read that you can actually ride some bikes!
To be honest I preferred the looks of the 1260 over the Xdiavel but as my knees are shot too I went for the X. Still have my old Triumph Rocket though as if I want to take a passenger the Ducati is useless! Love both bikes but for different reasons.
Every time I mean every time I ride my Diavel1260s I get some thumbs up or questions. The funniest thing was when a bus driver delayed departure from a bus stop just to talk with me about the bike :)
Both are sick bikes but after sitting on the 1260, it seemed heavier compared to the low down engine position of the xdiavel. Is the 1260 nimble in turns? I like the look of the x more but the 1260 sounds like it would be more comfortable on longer rides...
@@jones3892 I've found the 1260s to be extremely nimble in turns, mainly due to the pegs position and confidence-inspiring seating position. Also, a chain is the most efficient method of transferring the engine power to the wheels and if a belt breaks at speed, that could be the end of you as they can get shredded and foul the rear wheel.
@@TheAgalmic Thanks for the feedback! I didn't know about the belt drive either so I appreciate the heads up. I spoke to the dealer who gave me a pretty good quote as well so its in the running. Ride safe!
When I rode my Harley, no one would wave at me not even Harley riders. So now I have a 2013 Diavel Carbon and everyone waves especially Harley riders. Go figure..
Great video. I'm 5'5'' so I liked the low seat height of the XDiavel and adding the midsets made it much more enjoyable for me. The bars were a bit of a reach as well until I added the longer bars.
I ride a 2021 red Diavel 1260s and I must admit that I get a lot of attention, especially as I also have the Termignoni exhaust. If I pull into a petrol station I know I'll get asked about it, I have dads in the street pointing my bike out to their kids, people at lights will lean out of their windows to ask me to rev the bike, it's definitely not a bike for the shy and retiring rider. With the exhaust, I get 172hp and 139 Nm of torque. The 3.5" TFT display is big enough to read clearly and is designed to fit neatly between the handlebar clamps, I have no issues at all with it and prefer it to the huge displays on some other bikes.
The typical cruiser actually made the rider sit so further back as it makes a more relaxed position. In exchange, the passenger seat could be sacrificed to maximize its rider oriented positions
I have an original Diavel Strada. It can change into a touring bike in a few minutes. I ride it naked but I have used the bags to go to the store a couple of times. Totally reliable. I am not in love with the exhaust. The heat shields rattle when the screws come loose. Also the gear shift is notchy but once it warms up shifts ok and never misses a shift. And turn signal controls are not ideal. The self canceling feature only comes with heated grips. Otherwise it's fast, smooth and comfortable for an old man at 5'5". Best bike I have ever owned and there have been a lot of them over 58 years of riding.
NIce review! I owned a 2011 Diavel and a 2015 Carbon Red Diavel in the past. I made the switch to a 2016 XDiavel S last year as I like the look of the XDiavel much better. To deal with the seating position I installed Ducabike midset foot pegs which transformed the handling of the XDiavel making it handle more like the standard Diavel. To that end I now have the look I prefer with a seating position more suitable for sportier riding. So if you're holding back on the XDiavel only due to the foot peg position, the easy fixt is installing midsets in lieu of the forward controls.
Thanks for sharing! I'm glad you like the video too. And yeah, I think it's such a great idea to offer the mid-position foot pegs for an XDiavel. I believe I'd go for that as well. Very nice!
Enthusiasm by the tank full. Great review with fabulous humour. Makes a difference from the mind blowing boredom of some vloggers, TMF , Bennetts bike social , etc etc in my opinion. Thank you for the review and giant smile .
Love the looks of the Xdiavel. The exhaust looks better the belt system seems like a perfect choice, and the best part is the wheels on the S model. The Diavel 1260 does have better pedals, not a fan of the chain but minor, but the front LED markers are a beautiful combination. I wish there was a pick your parts and assemble the bike kind of stuff
Excellent video. I am an older rider and sold my Harley touring model last year. Really was not doing long distance or all day rides anymore. But cannot get rid of the “itch” so started looking at smaller bikes, sub 600 pounds. My son is a serious Ducati fan and told me about the X. Would love to try one but New England dealers are not too keen on Ducati test rides.
Wow, it's interesting to hear that the dealers may not be willing to allow for test rides. That would be extremely surprising as it matters so much in case of motorcycles.
If it helps I got the "X" last summer and am in my mid 50's. She is extremely powerful, even in urban mode. If you put it in sports mode it will beat 90% of sport bikes up to 100 MPH, after that you really don't want to be doing that for any length of time anyway. She handles like a dream but if you are on the larger side, like me, you may need to change out your stock suspension. It will take time to readjust your riding style and expectations of what the bike can do, if you're used to HD's. The new lean angles you will find and that power at high revs :-) It will take weeks to wipe the smile off your face, once you get used to her. One word of warning though, everything is expensive but if you're into HD's I guess you're used to that!
RE. The chain clanking noise, I solved, -after months of figuring out-, mine sticking a piece of rubber where the chain hits at the bottom of the swing arm, hope this help somebody out there.
I have seven big bikes of different types so i don't care where the footpegs are, but the xdiavel if you do 200 kmh your forward legs will fly in the air! This is why there is a conversion kit to place the footpegs more straight, or even towards the rear and high set, and the forward pegs have three settings with 5 inch movable forward and back too for longer and shorter legs fitted stock
Love my xdiavel. Spent a year looking to upgrade my bike and Xdiavel well was on top since last October when I saw someone riding it and thats it decision was made right then. Now I have it with me for a month😊 one of the best bike and I do not think I will ride anything else after this 😂
Based on your points, I'd have to get the Diavel. Why have all those handling skills if you cant use 'em? Forward foot controls (2015 Indian Scout owner) take the edge off of rider assisted handling. I do love a belt drive (gear drive too!) but the ability to: add stability by standing & add handling input has me Diavel focused. Excellent & engaging video, BTW!!!
Great run down and I appreciate the effort you put into comparing the 2. Ill need to take both for a ride but I'm leaning towards the 1260s due to its mid foot peg position and slightly longer seat, but its also good to know the peg position also factors into city riding.
Great video, the only thing I miessed and You show it in Video i the S versions for Xdiavel and 1260, I think it was not avialable for old Diavel and it was the significant brakes update. Not sure if it is still applicable for the newer models or brakes are the same for S versions as for standards.

Can Ducati make a X-Diavel, with the looks and the belt of the XDiavel and the ergonomics of the Diavel? I love the XDiavel style, I am cold on the Diavel and I want to go on small trips with my wife without losing her on the road.
You might benefit from trying the foot pegs kit and a backrest for a passenger then.
