The most important lesson!! I remember seeing Derrick Hodge play live with Glasper, and after the gig I was super curious about his amp and gear... Someone next to me nudged me and said, “dude... it’s his fingers.” He might have even been backlining the amp for that gig, not sure, but message received loud and clear!
Well spoken and (actually) words to live by.. she is an amazing instructor and a natural on SOOOOO many levels. In a few minutes of UA-cam, she basically reveals/debunks everything a beginner-to-expert needs to know or be reminded of that in the bass role. With this info, the average novice who practices for at least 20-30 min daily can sound like an expert in 9 months. Where have you been all my life???
I play with a pick and of course she is right when it comes to the feel. My feel is a strong attack, of course wearing thicker strings. 🤘😎🤘(Hybrid slinky cobalts are the best!!!!) It's one thing to get the right sound but your right technique whether you finger or pick or slap, really plays a huge difference with your style.
Don't forget to have fun!! Keep grooving with awesome bass lessons like this one by hitting those like and subscribe buttons!
I really like these little “lessons” .. doesn’t hurt that her voice is extremely calming and you can tell the passion is there!!!
Love Nik West!! Thanks Sweetwater! I'd love to learn more from her!

Super cool tutorial! (And she’s Smokin fine hehe)
It’d be MUCH easier to follow if you tapped your foot or used a metronome so we can hear the down beats.
I wasn't aware that Stevie Wonder was a hair stylist wth
