Went to a different yarn store recently, and the lady asked if I knit. I said, "No, I crochet" and she started going on about how SHE feels like crochet isn't "real" like knitting because people don't make "real" stuff like hats, socks, etc. and I was very confused hearing this come from a YARN store owner. you do you, boo... but I've done a lot with crochet, more than some people have knitted their whole life of knitting I cant imagine trying to talk to someone like that just because you don't prefer a craft, especially when they told you. "hey i do this craft"
I’ve always felt the opposite because crochet isn’t as easily replicated by a machine like knitting it. If I saw someone wearing something crocheted, I knew that it was hand made either by them or someone who cared for them (I know that’s not really the case anymore but)
I would've walked away from the store and left them with their monologue, would not buy from someone that just insulted me/mycraft/myoccupation 🤨 People are just as2holes with no reason and I hate that
I also have run into this issue where yarn store owners don’t give me credit for crocheting. They believe that knitting is real and not crochet. I vowed to never frequent their store again. It validates me to hear that others have faced this issue. I learned to crochet late in life and am so proud of myself.
Wow she sounds like a gem. I would not be purchasing from a store like that at all. Personally I have been able to do more things with crochet than knitting. I would be tempted to tell her that "at least crochet can't be replicated by a machine", but I am petty.
Its so interesting how the granny square yarn works up for different people. For me, I had to use a 6.5 mm to get the stitches to line up. It makes no sense in my brain that you could use a smaller hook and still run out but I would always have extra 😅
Girly, these days you are looking SO beautiful! Idk if it's the hair or if you are doing something different that just makes you so radiant ❤ please take care of yourself and seek peace and happiness! 💖🫶 xoxo from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I’m a HUUUUUGE HUGE fan of the Granny All-in-One Square Yarns ; I can’t wait to try the Flower Power ones! And YES! “What in Carnation” is the best name ever!!!! Thank you for sharing with us! ☺️🧡
So frickin adorable!!!! I love that you went with a scalloped edge!!!! The colors are amazing!!! I think a cardigan with a scalloped or picot edge would be adorable!!!! With a matching bag!!! Omg stop!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe it's because I'm a Wisconsin girlie, but the green and yellow square is giving Green Bay Packers vibes. Also Red Heart, please sponsor Michelle so we can see her test all the colors!!!!
Contenintial knitting, as a crocheter, is VERY easy. I accidentally learned it instead of English style because it felt natural to hold my yarn in my left hand 😂 so I feel you.
ok, i literally JUST clicked on this video and therefore have nothing useful to say about its content just yet, but i haven't stumbled upon your videos in a while and, omg, i gasped when i saw your hair! it's sooo cute and looks so good on you! alright, now that that's out of my system, i'll get to watching!
I wanted to say how much I appreciate seeing you work with and love acrylic yarn. Some times I feel like I'm looked down on for using acrylic instead of an expensive 100% wool or cotton or other fibers. Those fibers aren't acceptable for me. I like seeing you use, love, work with, and love the final results of you projects made with acrylic. It helps me feel better and helps me from feeling guilty for liking my finished projects too. Thank you ❤
I promise you're not doing anything wrong, I've seen ppl measure the colors and they're not consistent within the same color let alone different skiens
They are NOT consistent at all XD, granny square and I assume we see in this video, one color will have several inches more than the previous color or lessof course (I have pulled it apart and measured them)
I'm actually making a Cardigan with the "Dried bouquet" color and I get the same issues! I just REALLLLLLLY tighten my tension sometimes since I'm too lazy to constantly switch hook sizes (I went with the 5.5mm hook) lol your scarf is a whole entire vibe and fits your aesthetic❤ the border was 👌🏽😌 *chef's kiss*
That is very cute and I like the color combination. With that kind of yarn I used two different hooks. Some of the stitches I have different tension with so I just switch up hooks. So smaller hook with a flower and bigger hook on the outside
I give you so much credit, I would rather color change and weave in ends than have to take apart and restart a granny square just to get it to line up right.
It's very definite and clear that everyone has different tension but by trying different hook sizes this yarn can work universally. I have tighter tension so needed to use a 6.5mm and always had EXTRA yarn leftover after doing the flower/petals, was never running out?! Your scarf looks lovely and I really agree about the scalloped edges, really nice touch! I love the peacock and pink colour way the most I think, and the name is brilliant, hyacinth bucket, c'mon! 🤣 (From Keeping up Appearances, a British TV show).
Darling darling scarf love it !!!❤❤ Scalloped border really makes it. Love the squares so cute.❤🌲🎄🧑🏻🎄🤶🎅🏼⛄️☃️⛄️⛄️Love your videos. You have great ideas you put together.❤️❤️🎄☃️⛄️🎅🏼🤶🧑🏻🎄
I think its so funny that you had to redo it so many times, much longer than it takes to weave in 4 ends, but still liked it enough to buy it again. Yall really hate sewing XD !!! I think imma use the colors as inspiration and make the pattern but skip the skein of yarn itself bc i dont mind sewing. The basic granny square one seemed more worth it to me bc i find it harder to sew ends neatly with the cluster stitches those granny squares have, and each row being a different color made for much more sewing ! Thanks for the video
I used a 6mm hook and it worked for me on all 3 skeins I used. I definitely have tight tension. I did have stitch looser a couple times I do like how much of the final colour of each square. The original one had like no yarn colour left over so it sucked to weave in.
I got the Cherry Blossom color to make a hooded scarf for my coworker and I guess I have the right tension for these because I've never really had any issues for the color changing lol.
That's so cute! In here we don't have the Red heart yarns, but oh my how pretty they come out 😍 I proprably have to make this but find similar yarns from Hobbii or something
OOh excited to get into this. I made a sweater with some yarn that was not labeled as "granny square" yarn but it looked the same just different label and it kinda made the sweater have a spiral look, but it would've looked better as a granny square so maybe I used the wrong hook size.
Ooooooo new to your channel! But I know an interesting yarn for you! I don’t know who all sells it but one of my local Michael’s’ had a “beanie” yarn! They’re cakes that make a beanie and come with a Pom Pom! Thought you might like that!
And….I just ordered 5 skeins of that yarn,😂. What am I going to make you ask? Who knows and who cares? It just looked fun! Very accessible for me at JoAnns in the US and good discounts for ordering online with store pick up
for the name of science, could you unravel (from the skein) about what it would take to make 5 or more of of the granny squares, and measure each color. perhaps from those measurements you could have a better idea of what hook to use, and how tight to crochet. frankly i think this yarn is more trouble then it's worth. Your scarf is very gosh darn cute. It's your channel and your projects, give your self 1000 out of 10!
When I worked the all in one granny, I think I had to bump my hook to an 8! I did a whole skein and made a really cute scarf with it. :) I won’t buy any of this though. It’s just not worth the stress, lol.
It is really cute, and I do really like especially the colors of the green and yellow, but I don’t think I’d be willing to put up with having to switch hooks and an redo things with slightly different tension… I’d rather just weave in ends, I guess. 😂
Seems I’ve heard they give so much extra to use it to sew the squares together. I bought 3 colors, 2 each to make something. I didn’t do it on purpose but they all have yellow centers. Have yet to start….

I litterally just tried it today and had to use 6.5 as well! And i had to go loose on the petals!
SAME i had to use it with 6.5 with looser tension
Same 😂

12:19 Ya have the left over yarn you could use it for the tassels 😊
Ok. It’s official - I need to use this yarn with the scallop edge to make a cute table runner for my friends. 💕
Maybe it's because I'm a Wisconsin girlie, but the green and yellow square is giving Green Bay Packers vibes.

I love watching yarn crochet, and this scarf making brought feelings of happiness and a burst of serotonin that nothing else can. ❤

The final scarf is adorable! With the white scallop border, it reminds me of the frosting on a vintage cake! ❤
Hey, thanks!!! I had no idea there was a Mary Maxim store in Paris Ont!! I’m in Brantford so it’s so close!!! Wowzers!!! ❤
I am so in love with the scarf!!! I seriously am going to the store tomorrow … I need to make one!!! Love it so much.
You're so right knitting is boring, and Totoro is like, " mummy its about MEEE," so cute
I keep forgetting you post on Saturdays now! It’s a new surprise every week for me!
I promise you're not doing anything wrong, I've seen ppl measure the colors and they're not consistent within the same color let alone different skiens

Your hair is GORGEOUS!!! I am so excited you are reviewing this yarn. I am admittedly not a Red Heart girlie but I am super curious about this.
Love that scarf and the colors work well together!
It would be interesting to unravel the ball and measure each section to see if they're the same as each other.
Aaaah I thought about you as soon as I saw this yarn on another UA-cam channel! I'm glad you got it and you enjoyed it!
oh my god that scarf is adoraaaaaaaaaable!!!! >
Yarnspirations is releasing a Bernat Blanket version of the granny square yarn.
I agree with the flower issue. Instead of using trebles I’m just doing doubles. Also only going to round 5. Plan on making a sweater!
I’m obsessed with this scarf and your hair ❤
That is very cute and I like the color combination. With that kind of yarn I used two different hooks. Some of the stitches I have different tension with so I just switch up hooks. So smaller hook with a flower and bigger hook on the outside
19:06 Totoro! 😹
I would get Flower Field and Peony Pop if I crocheted, they're so cartoony!
I give you so much credit, I would rather color change and weave in ends than have to take apart and restart a granny square just to get it to line up right.
Scalloped boarder was an excellent idea!
It's very definite and clear that everyone has different tension but by trying different hook sizes this yarn can work universally.

Michelle, *you* are too cute!! (Gives you a big ol' auntie hug)
i've been in a granny square phase, but now I have to make a scarf like this! its soo cute! 😍
I love that crochet hook! So smart!
So cute with the white border🤩
nooo Ive been waiting for you to knit again. still gonna enjoy this vid of course :)
using the same yarn ATM. I LOVE IT!!! Almost done 1 skein, its soooooooooo much better than the granny square one
I love it way better than the first version! I wonder if they’ll make more types!
@@michelle_jasek me too!!!! its crazy how much softer it is than the Normal super saver , night and day
Darling darling scarf love it !!!❤❤ Scalloped border really makes it. Love the squares so cute.❤🌲🎄🧑🏻🎄🤶🎅🏼⛄️☃️⛄️⛄️Love your videos. You have great ideas you put together.❤️❤️🎄☃️⛄️🎅🏼🤶🧑🏻🎄
This is so cute! I'm personally a MASSIVE fan of purple, so I hope to see you using the wisteria color in a video one day!

❤ crochet granny squares. (not so much variegated yarns, but love ombres)

I've been following you for a while but recently i really fell in love with your video's,the first time i was under 15 min😊

I just got bluebell one can’t wait to get more
Rosie Despacito is so pretty

Such a cute project! ❤
ITS SO CUTE!
Your scarf looks great. Did steaming the squares make it softer?
The idea of the extra at the end is to be able to sew it together without getting more yarn
Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thank you for the video 😊
Oooohh it looks amazing ❤❤

And….I just ordered 5 skeins of that yarn,😂. What am I going to make you ask? Who knows and who cares? It just looked fun! Very accessible for me at JoAnns in the US and good discounts for ordering online with store pick up
I tried the 5 mm and it didn’t work for me so I went to 5.5 mm and it worked a lot better :)

Are you excited about season five of Stranger Things I am
me, clicking on this video while fighting for my life against the citrus granny square yarn for the last 3 hours hearing that it infamously does not line up: 😯
Try 6.5 mms
So cute! This yarn reminds me of the vintage daisy maker/winder tools ua-cam.com/users/shortsx9nNI64Broo?si=qE_1kunAJAqeOoBa 🌼
Girl, you are the only UA-camr I want to be friend in real life.
Imaging going to yarn store with you.
You aren’t doing anything wrong! The color changes are very inconsistent…even within the same skein!
