That is beautiful, and now I want to buy some and make a dragon. I would start with the lighter shade so the tail, wings, and horns would end up with the darker colors.
I watched your hexagon cardigan video, and it inspired me to finally make a wearable!! I'd been thinking about it, but your video gave me the push I needed ☺️
You can usually see if they are discontinuing a yarn on their website. It looks like some colors are being discontinued but I don't think the whole line is. I love the Cloud Cake and of course that whole line is discontinued. I love to knit with it. It is so soft. The pig is so cute. It worked up beautifully. I actually have 2 skeins in that color and 2 each of 2 other colors which I bought at JoAnns on clearance. I will be knitting with mine
Thank you so much for sharing… I ordered myself a ton of this yarn and I have already made myself a yeti plushie with the white fading to blue colorama yarn. I love this yarn and you’re the one that introduced me to it. I’m super inspired now and have so many ideas of what I want to do with it
I bought Colorama Haze (inspired by your cardigan) and I’m hunting around for something to do with it!! 😂 I already have a cardigan and I don’t really ami so I’m sorta stuck. Maybe a cute blanket?? Figuring out what to do with the yarn is kinda half the fun, haha!! Loved this vid and the finished piggy ami…SO CUTE!! One of the bonuses of using the yarn you did was that you pretty much got three colors in this one particular skein, which I think is totally worth it for the price!
I love this yarn! Last year, I made slippers for my parents for Christmas (who knows if they actually wear them 😂) and a pair for my youngest son (he’s 6 now), all with a single skein. This year, I’ve used it to make 2 hats and I still have tons left from that skein. Right now, I’m working on a pullover sweater with a mosaic pattern in the middle - dark teal on the bottom, teal and rust mosaic pattern in the middle, and rust for the top half (Aberdeen pullover on Ravelry for anyone interested). I don’t know who it will be for but it looks amazing! I also worked on dinner while watching part of this video ;)
I have never tried amigurumi, but like watching you try the different kits, and I like your honest review. I have never made a hexagon cardigan, but after seeing yours I want to make one. I hope I can find the Colorama yarn after the New Year. I am making a blanket for my niece as I watch you. Love how your little bear came out. So cute.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for this yarn. I could see making a sweater for myself or my kids. Right now I'm knitting the sleeves of a sweater for my husband.
I hope this yarn sticks around too! I’d love to try it out. While I was watching, I was knitting a tiny pair of wooly, red longjohn pajamas as ornaments for my sil and her husband. 😊❤
It turned out SO cute!! 😍 I used Caron Perfect Phasing to make my sister a scarf last year. I absolutely fell in love with that yarn and it led me to try a bunch of different Caron cakes. Blossom is my absolute favorite! So far Caron is my favorite brand of yarn 🖤
This makes me think of a project I did. I did a bunny rabbit plush where I used brown for the hands, feet, head and ears of the rabbit. I then did the body and most of the arms and legs, in white and the Lion Brand Jeans yarn to put clothes on it. I then used safety eyes that had brown irises. So cute. I still have it, though I've thought of giving it to a friend's child.
I was one of the first backers on Kickstarter for the magic puzzles - there was actually quite a bit of drama throughout that campaign, which is funny to think about now but the subject matter of that drama was of course not funny at all.... Anywho, loved the first 3 puzzles I received from that Kickstarter campaign and highly recommend them to others - all of the artists who did the artwork for the puzzles are amazingly talented people!!
I loved watching Wicked. I totally related to Elphaba. I went in watching it without knowing anything really about it. However, I cannot wait to see part 2. That Pig turned out so cute. I know your nephew is going to love it.
Not crocheting at the moment! Started a gift for my mom yesterday and did some dishcloths for my neighbor. Planning on doing some ear warmers later today with some new yarn I found. Yes, the videos where you don’t like the yarn are fun, but seeing your joy with this yarn was fun too. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the video. It was very informative and inspiring. I've been debating making a cardigan. I really wanted to but I was nervous about doing it, and seeing your beautiful cardigan has encouraged me to try. Also, the piggy is adorable, and I worked a blanket I am making for my son.
I think the bulky weight is due to the halo. I love that type of yarn. I saw it in the store and ignored it because I thought it would be scratchy. My husband felt it and said hey thisone is soft. And there i went😂. Your pug is so cute!! I made an 18 inch bunny. Talk about perfect yarn.
I had some yarn I was crocheting into squares for my Grandgirls cardigan, & my first also, lol. Too much of one color for it to change colors often enuf. It's Red hearts Brighf Stripes, beautiful. So I was having to cut out lots of black & lime green. Oh well, what we do for the craft. 😅 I very much enjoyed this post! Thank you for sharing. Ps I would separate yarn if I needed to. It is what it is.
Another great video! And your little piggy is perfect. You definitely need another matching sweater-ami combo! (One thing about using self-striping yarn is that for most amigurumi, you almost have to separate the colors, as you did. Otherwise, you can be almost done before the next color kicks in.)
Yes I have taken apart a skein to use specific colors. I just did that with Scarfie yarn (This project will be featured in the video after my next one). What I happened to be working on while watching your video was going to be a shawl, but I don't like how the yarn feels after all, so it'll be a neck scarf, out of a mandala cake. A small one in the colorway 'dragon'. The pattern I'm using looks like scales which is cool, but I don't like the feel of the yarn itself.
I worked on the DarjeelingTea Shawl by RedTeapotAtelier. The yarn I use is Wheel of Alpaca by Hobbii. I really this pattern a lot. I love using different yarns for triangle shawls, just the way you tried new yarn for amis. Most of the time the shawls are for summer yarns which are mostly cotton or cotton blends. I use summer patterns and wear them in winter. They're just as warm as winter patterns with wool/acrylic blends.
I've been wanting to try this yarn soo badly! Loved the movie. I saw the play when I was in HighSchool and was so nervous the movie wasnt going to be as good but it was sooo Good! but for me I'm more Elphaba - Glinda was funny but I feel if i knew her in real life she would drive me crazy lol
Lol she is a bit ditzy for sure. I did like seeing her journey of becoming more self aware though at the beginning the lack of self awareness would drive me nuts
This is so fun that this yarn worked for the Piggy. I found a surprising good yarn too. The "Brushed Rainbow" from Loops and Threads (Michaels house brand) is also surprisingly really good for Ami. I made some Axolotls from their 2 shades of pink and they came out so good!
The piggy turned out so cute! I love it! Also re: the color situation: Caron seems to be discontinuing certain colorways of the Colorama Halo, including the Rose Garden. I know bc after your cardigan video I went looking for Rose Garden to make a similar cardigan (I just loved yours so much but wanted one a little longer and with different sleeves), and that colorway was on clearance at two different stores, along with a few others. But all the colorways that are one color fading to white are on the shelves and full price. So that seems to be the situation from what I can tell. I was working on some dragons during this video for a market!
Makes me a little sad because I love the ones that change to different colors not just white. But the white is nice when it comes to amigurumi because then you can have that as a base or accent color depending on the animal
Halo yarns are pretty much always designated as thicker than the central strand really is, just so that the halo fills in the gaps. Obviously not going to be the case with a toy, but like for a sweater or shawl you'd want to go kinda loose on tension just to let the fluff really shine. Personally, taking apart a variegated/gradient yarn isn't really my personal cup of tea. I'll do it, when I really need a bit of a specific color and the multi is all I have on hand or it's the only way to get it in a specific texture. But otherwise, I tend to prefer using a gradient as an actual gradient, since I could have just bought solid color yarn if I didn't actively want the gradient/whatever effect they were going for. And I'm currently working on a very small commission for a coworker, which isn't something I normally do but I knew I could knock it out quickly. A tiny little dinosaur, that I love the design of even if the pattern is way too "for beginners", and a little owl that hopefully will come out cute enough anyway. I was more excited for the dino tbh lol
I was working on finishing up a "hyper pink" glasses case for my mom for Christmas. I decided to try Big Twist's Favorite Cotton for it. To me, it feels and works up very similarly to Lily Sugar'n Cream
The pig is adorable. I have never tried amigurumi but watching you is inspiring me to try. :) While watching I was seaming up the sides of my first sweater, a pattern by Crystal at Bag O Day Crochet.
I'm a wizard of oz fanatic. I've discovered that even before the entire wicked thing, if you pay attention you will realize throughout your day there will be a reference to the wizard of oz at least once per day. Be it in a tv show, a song, commercial, movie,; someone will quote or refer or alter a quote that still is an homage to the wizard of oz. Then now that you know and pay attention a little while you won't be able to stop hearing it and every day of your life you will notice it forever.
I have been loving your videos and I really love when you let your "goofier" side show a bit! You have such a fun personality, and what I really appreciate about your channel is the mix of that personality with the useful information. I haven't seen Wicked yet but hoping to soon! I'm nervous though because it kind of has the same hype as the Barbie movie and I was not a fan of that at all :/
I’m so glad you enjoy the mix of personality and helpful info that’s exactly what I’m going for! I was afraid to show my personality at first because I am kind of a weirdo lol. But the more I am just myself the more I think people appreciate it. Thank you so much for the sweet comment. I was nervous about the hype of both of those movies because I’m a contrarian but I loved both of them!
I actually used this yarn for an octopus. And I loved it! Then I used the rest for my tree skirt. I tried to find the same color in this yarn but I can't find it. The only I've seen at Joann's where I am is just tan and brown one. But I wanted the one you have and the light blue to white one I used
I was terrified of The Wizard of Oz as a kid! It's always been my mom's favorite movie though. Haven't seen the new movie yet but saw it on stage years ago and loved it so much!
I was crocheting a garland for the Christmas tree on my "ugly Christmas sweater." I used yarn bee Scrub-ology 2.0 for this, and its the perfect look! The question I'm left with, as I look at this skein left over, is "Will it Ami?"
i've honestly slowly fallen in love with caron cakes. I'm working a beanie with the Carron Blossom cakes in the carribean sea colorway and it's working up so nice
1:27 lmao that is so funny to hear considering how you hated the yarn so much in the red heart amigurumi kit. They are both produced by Tuva crafts, the kits are white labeled for Red Heart and Hook & Needles
That is weird because the weight of the yarn was similar but it didn’t split for me like the redheart one did. I did notice the hook was similar to the one in that kit which I did give the company feedback about.
You’re right, it’s marked as ‘bulky’ as it needs to be knitted/crocheted loose to let the fluff bloom. The looser it is, the softer the fluff. Which means it may not always be a good match for amigurumi, but many still feel nice and soft when crocheted tight for it, it all depends on the fibers. I’ve had both mohair and imitation mohair have different tolerances for fluff
you’ve made me really want to make a hexagon sweater of my own with this yarn 🤣 i’ll have to get some while it’s on sale!! p.s. i also thought wicked didn’t feel as long as it was! i wasn’t expecting to like it as much as i did. i want to go see it again, and it’s really rare for me to want to see a movie in the theater twice!
Hi Rachel...new crocheter here (under a year)...just wanted to drop note in to say I really enjoy your content (especially the yarn reviews 'Will it Ami?"...as someone new to yarn arts, knowing what to buy and the characteristics of different yarns is a hurdle, and you'r videos have helped with my confidence when shopping. What am I working on now? I have Two WIPs going: My first beanie and also working on a gingerbread man amigurmi.
So, with the right pattern, this would work as is, small stuff not so much. You like the yarn, the colors go together, you can make a few, I think it works.
How do you get the heads of your amigurumi to not flop about? I’ve been crocheting for about 5 years and pretty much every amigurumi I’ve made that has a separate head (meaning, you have to sew the head to the body) ends up with a flippy floppy head. So I try and stay away from such patterns, tbh. What is the trick to stabilizing the head? I make sure the stitching is good and that there is plenty of stuffing, but it still turns out a fail.
I usually put a little bit more stuffing in just before sewing it all the way up and that usually does the trick. I will say chenille yarn has a tendency to do this more than something more firm like acrylic or cotton. Sometimes if the pattern has me decreasing down to 18 stitches let’s say I will only go down to 24 stitches with chenille just to give it a bit more firmness. Hope that helped!
How many people have a pig that matches their cardigan? I think cardigan a rumi will be huge next year. 😍There will be a kit with multi coloured yarn where you make a wearable and with the leftovers, an amigarumi that matches the wearable. "Rachel with her cardigan and her pig." For December2024. BTW I’m glad to see another female with ordinary nails, I know a lot of people love to have their nails done and have different lengths and colours. I play the piano and you cannot play with long nails. I cant do anything with false nails. Each to their own. I remember I was about 10 , back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I made myself a ring out of a tiny, thin almost invisible piece of wire I found in my father’s workshop. I was wearing it while practicing my piano scales one morning and my father walked in and saw my ‘ring’. He took my hand and took the ring off and squished it saying ‘ you can’t play the piano with that rubbish all over your hands." Hmm, a tiny piece of very thin wire on one finger. However to this day many, many years later I still can’t play with anything on my fingers. See what you didi to me dad. My dad who is now 96 can’t even remember the incident and he and I laugh over how it had such an effect on me. Look at Liberace he has huge rings on all his fingers and has no trouble playing anything. Maybe that’s why I crochet and play for fun and he was a genius at the piano but didn’t crochet.
Love the idea of having matching sweater and Ami sets! I can’t do fake nails for sensory reasons. Same reason I don’t wear jewelry often either. I like my nails short although I do paint them from time to time
1 awesome video as always i too love this yarn for so many things 2 i tried to sign up for the crochet box but they only deliver to usa uk canada new Zealand and Australia. Rip the rest of Europe 😭🤣 ive seen a few people advertising it and my husband saw me looking at it from your link and offered to pay for it but no dice. Any chance u could do shorts when u get urs each month so i can live vicariously though you? 😂😂😂😂😂❤ PS lilly is adorable. 10/10 would boop snoot. Edit: cant spell, can't type, i cannot words through my crochet hype 😅
Wow second time running into the same ad! Just yesterday another crochet UA-camr was sponsored by hooks and needles. Edit: After checking the video it was from EliseRoseCrochet ( ua-cam.com/video/22zstYj6GVE/v-deo.htmlsi=JKk7TxRpuvQcA1ry )
As someone who remembers enjoying the book when they where younger, oh yeah, it is pretty messed up. Can't really recommend it to anyone in good conscious. Though I'll admit to a bit of morbid amusement at the thought of modern Wicked fans picking it up thinking it's anything like the musical.
That is beautiful, and now I want to buy some and make a dragon. I would start with the lighter shade so the tail, wings, and horns would end up with the darker colors.
Oooo that sounds amazing!
I watched your hexagon cardigan video, and it inspired me to finally make a wearable!! I'd been thinking about it, but your video gave me the push I needed ☺️
Woohoo! Welcome to the club.

what about a shawl?
@ I love that idea!!! 🥰
I’ve made hats with it! 1 skein can easily make 3-4 beanies. And they’re so pretty and cozy.
i bought this yarn to make a blanket by the snugglery on youtube called the aura blanket! its so gorgeous, im working it up right now
@@wrenblahaj How does the yarn feel? Is it nice or that obvious acrylic texture?
The tree is absolutely breathtaking. I love color changing trees. Purple is my favorite 💜💜.
Thank you! I love this tree. It changes to lots of different modes with a remote but the color phasing mode is my favorite.
I’m so glad that this amied!
I worked on ornaments as Christmas presents for coworkers while watching the video.
Too much cuteness in this video! 💕 You wearing your beautiful cardigan and holding your adorable matching pig is so precious! I love him!
Thank you 🥰 I wish I had more time to make a different one to give to my nephew and keep this one but alas he is at least going to a good home
Rachel, this series is so fun!! I’ve been crocheting for a year and I love amigarumi ,these vids are my favorite crochet vidss
So glad you’re enjoying the series! It is fun to make so I’m glad people have fun watching!
I found some of this yarn on clearance and I'm now super excited to give it a job! ❤
So cute.
I'm crocheting the Afton Men's Ear Warmer for my dad for Christmas. I'm using Caron Skinny Cake in the color Cupcake (his choice)
I’m also making an ear warmer for some family members too! They’re so fun to make!
Loving that yarn. I am making a christmas pickle plushie and a coffee brown hat for a gift. Keep crocheting 🎉
Yarn under club!!🎉❤
I have always crocheted that way! I’m actually trying to learn yarn over especially for double crochets but old habits die hard lol
I love how excited you were about this.
So happy my last will it Ami of the year was a success!!
I'll definitely keep an eye out for this yarn. I could see making a sweater for myself or my kids. Right now I'm knitting the sleeves of a sweater for my husband.
Great vid! That piggy is absolutely adorable! 😍 I am working on a double crochet "V" stitch Christmas cowl for myself. 😊
Blossom is high up on the list to try!
Sounds so cute. Sometimes I get emotionally attached to my plushies and have a hard time giving them away.

I loved watching Wicked. I totally related to Elphaba. I went in watching it without knowing anything really about it. However, I cannot wait to see part 2. That Pig turned out so cute. I know your nephew is going to love it.
Can not wait for part 2. Longest intermission ever 😆
Such a cute little pig! Thank you for sharing.
The pig is adorable! I may need to try this out.
I love Wicked too! About to see it for the 3rd time tomorrow. I’m working on a beautiful large shawl that has a tie with it.
I am definitely going again next week lol. I haven’t been multiple times to see a movie in the theater since lord of the rings lol
Awh thank you for that. It is always so fun for me to make videos like this one!
Thanks for the video. It was very informative and inspiring. I've been debating making a cardigan. I really wanted to but I was nervous about doing it, and seeing your beautiful cardigan has encouraged me to try.
Also, the piggy is adorable, and I worked a blanket I am making for my son.
The hexagon cardi is so fun to make I would 10/10 recommend.
I made exactly the same sweater that you are wearing. Beautiful!
Twins!!

A small one in the colorway 'dragon'. The pattern I'm using looks like scales which is cool, but I don't like the feel of the yarn itself.
I’m working on a hexagon cardigan but in Caron jumbo ombré but I love how your cardigan came out with the halo so I got myself some to try it
Fun! Hope you love it
Today I worked on two things while watching! Switched between working on a puzzle and crocheting a Christmas stocking for my partner!
Love! I am finishing up my puzzle now
I worked on the DarjeelingTea Shawl by RedTeapotAtelier. The yarn I use is Wheel of Alpaca by Hobbii. I really this pattern a lot.

That piggie is so cute!
I bought that halo yarn to make a poncho with, but after seeing your cardigan I may rethink my project.
I have been wanting to make a poncho but I’m not sure if I would actually like wearing it
I've been wanting to try this yarn soo badly!
So cute! I don't think they're discontinuing that yarn...just some colors and bring new ones in. I love it, too!
I used this yarn to make cat loaf plushies for my daughter, Lily (Same name as your fur baby) I also LOVE it on the sentro for hats and scaves.
Awh I love that her name is Lily. I loved it for a kiddo but I was done having babies so hence the name for the doggo lol.
This is so fun that this yarn worked for the Piggy. I found a surprising good yarn too. The "Brushed Rainbow" from Loops and Threads (Michaels house brand) is also surprisingly really good for Ami. I made some Axolotls from their 2 shades of pink and they came out so good!
Adding it the list to try! Thank you!
He's so cute!
I'm working on a tree skirt for my christmas tree (no pattern, just an open granny square)
I’m making a plush walrus in orange for my nephew!
It’s not just for sweaters but also good for a nice looking shawl I used a cake ball like that and it looked so cute 🥰
The piggy turned out so cute! I love it!
Also re: the color situation: Caron seems to be discontinuing certain colorways of the Colorama Halo, including the Rose Garden. Fascinating! I loved that movie so much as a child and now my children are obsessed with Wicked. Such an interesting full circle moment.
Thank you! That is so cute!
Looks like they are getting new packaging and different colors per Joann site. There's also now a striping version along with the phasing
Ooo I want to try the stripes now. Thanks for the info!

Good luck lol!
i've honestly slowly fallen in love with caron cakes. I'm working a beanie with the Carron Blossom cakes in the carribean sea colorway and it's working up so nice
Blossom is on my list to try in the new year!
I was working on Tanner the Mini Triceratops in Burnt Orange.
It’s so funny that I just finished rewatching the video of you making the sweater and then in the corner of my eye I saw this video pop up
That’s hilarious. And not you rewatching my videos. So sweet 🥹
Same here! I can’t wait to go see it again.
I’m so happy to hear that! I love that I can be helpful to the crochet community. Enjoy your projects!!
Super cute 🥰.
I want to try this yarn to make octopus ami! Yeah, fluffy octopuses don't make much sense but 🤷🏻♀️
Fluffy octopuses make sense in my book 😅
Adorable 🥰
So, with the right pattern, this would work as is, small stuff not so much. You like the yarn, the colors go together, you can make a few, I think it works.
yes halo yarn works great for some plushies like if you're making sheep or one you want to actually look fuzzy on purpose ;)
A sheep would be perfect!
3:28 10 millimeter? The label says 6 millimeter crochet hook which is a US J10.... i dont know it this was a mistake but that made me really confused
Lol oops! I said 10 because it says “J/10” on the label and my brain got confused. Definitely used a size 6mm on the sweater
Love your cardigan and the piggy! Will you please share the pattern for the piggy? 😊
Added to the description box! Sorry about that
How do you get the heads of your amigurumi to not flop about?
I like my nails short although I do paint them from time to time
I haven’t seen a single bad thing about the colorama halo and it would be such a shame to see it go! I havent been able to get my hands on it yet :(
It seems like maybe it’s just certain colorways? Not sure. I hope it’s here to stay
Im weaving in the ends on some fingerless gloves
I am making the same sweater as you are wearing but for my plushie because I dont have the patience to make it my size🤓
Omg how did you know I did the same thing! I made a little hexagon cardigan for my nieces plushie for Christmas. I’ll be showing it in a video soon!
i cant find the pattern? do you have a link please
The pattern link is in the description!
1 awesome video as always i too love this yarn for so many things

Rip the rest of Europe 😭🤣 ive seen a few people advertising it and my husband saw me looking at it from your link and offered to pay for it but no dice. Any chance u could do shorts when u get urs each month so i can live vicariously though you? 😂😂😂😂😂❤
PS lilly is adorable. 10/10 would boop snoot.
Edit: cant spell, can't type, i cannot words through my crochet hype 😅
Oh noooo I hope they open up their shipping to other places soon. Lily says she would love that. She loves any attention she can get lol
I went with my mom, I had her wake her up a few times because she fell asleep when certain parts became a bit too long 🤣
Lol that’s funny. The longer quiet parts were hard for the kid behind me as well 😬
@@Tfwcrochet the last really long movie we watched was the avatar, didn't know a movie could contain so much water lol
It works I’ve made sheep and koala
Love that!
🖤
loveee
Wow second time running into the same ad! Just yesterday another crochet UA-camr was sponsored by hooks and needles.
Edit: After checking the video it was from EliseRoseCrochet ( ua-cam.com/video/22zstYj6GVE/v-deo.htmlsi=JKk7TxRpuvQcA1ry )
Yep they are trying to get those holiday sales is 😆
Idk I absolutely hate the way this one feels. It's weird I'm working a project with it. Also bought on clearance
Texture is definitely personal. I don’t like the premier little bunny and everyone else seems to.
Too bad hooks and needles don't ship to France. 😢
Awh I wish they shipped more places!
As someone who remembers enjoying the book when they where younger, oh yeah, it is pretty messed up. Can't really recommend it to anyone in good conscious. Though I'll admit to a bit of morbid amusement at the thought of modern Wicked fans picking it up thinking it's anything like the musical.
They have no idea what they’re in for lol
You deserve a good one after all your suffering 😅
@@WitchyLittleStitches lol you’re so sweet. I did have some stinkers this month. Especially that crochet kit!
