Honestly my favorite game in the genre. Borderline peerless in many regards. Did you find the extremely well hidden area that is required for the secret boss?
@@Bovolt Do you refer to Xyarlohatp? That was a very well hidden area, took me a while to understand how to get there, after some research xD Unfortunately, it was the one boss I didn't get to face!
Played this after Blasphemous which is a masterpiece imo. I love this game and it's boss battles and combat system are really satisfying once you get to grips with it. Really good game.

This game surpassed my expectations in like every way, I played it 2 years ago and the whole time I was playing I was thinking why is this game not main stream this is one the best indie games out there, the story, the characters, the lore and voice acting surprised me of how good it is, the music and soundtrack blew me away one of the best I have ever heard especially amulvaro observatory, afterlife, the crow, avatar of thalamus , they are still stuck in my mind to this day and lastly the boss fights and level design there was so much variety in levels and bosses, I loved the bosses so much I replayed the game 7 times just to fight them again ( that's before the boss rush update) my only gripe with game is the heroic bosses ( hard mode) are so overtuned they are broken in everyway and combat system can't keep up with them Overall this a 9 out of 10 game, so sad it had a rough release back in 2017 that killed Amy hype surrounding it, I recommend it this game anyone who loves metroidvania games
I agree! I loved the gameplay and the story caught me completely by surprise! One of the best metroidvania/soulslikes I've ever played. Too bad it's rough initial release hurt its fame, but the devs definitely did it justice with the rework!
Was definitely one of the best metroidvanias ive played on ps5, right up there with other great metroidvanias like afterimage, bloodstained ritual of the night, curse of the sea rats, ender lillies, grime colors of rot, lost epic, monster sanctuary, record of lodoss war deedlit in wonder labyrinth, souldiers and the knight witch, ive also played blasphemous, F.I.S.T., hollow knight and moonscars but i didnt find those games anywhere as good, for me the key to a great metroidvania is character progression, a sense that you start as a nobody and slowly but surely you can become a god among men, build diversity i feel is a major element that can turn a simple and quick metroidvania into a neverending plight to find the perfect build, i long for metroidvanias like this, RPG and soulslike mechanics have turned simple platformers into straight up 2D action Rpgs and im totally here for it, thats why i dont like the more simple metroid likes with no progression or equipment, i feel that castlevania sotn definitely shaped this genre for the better

The main complaint I have heard for this game from people who do not like souls-like games is the stamina element when it comes to combat, they really don't like that. Some also tend to find combat a bit clunky at times, but in all honesty it never came across like that for me, it's all about timing and which weapon you are using. Aside from this, I do consider the bosses to be fair (on their normal difficulty, on heroic they become a different kind of beast), I do like the level up system (a staple of the souls formula) and I also enjoy the variety in terms of equipment. I would recommend giving it a shot if the stamina element is not a deal-breaker for you.

If anyone wants to get the game dont buy it on any of the PS, the game has a save corruption bug since realese and the devs have yet to address it(the only thing they have said about the issue is to cloud save and deal with it). Also there has been no word on if the ashes of vados will come to PS they said spring 22 and nothing since.
Interesting to know! I didn't come across any save issues, to be honest. Hopefully they will adress it for those affected! As for Ashes of Vados, I hope we get to have it on PS soon!
Huh?? I've played the ps4 version 4 times now since 2019 and I've never had 1 single issue with saving, it must be your console, I've played the game on both ps4 pro and ps5 with zero issues apart from a few graphic bugs that have mostly been fixed

I loved Hollow Knight, probably one of my favorite games ever. Haven't had a chance to play Aeterna Noctis and ENDER Lillies yet, but I've heard they are amazing!

I didn’t like it. I got to endless and stop playing. Combat felt weird.
It's definitely not for everyone, especialy with the stamina concept that a lot of people may not find to their taste.

Top game and a must for Castlevania fans. Picked it up on XB and has been much improved since release with updates since release.

ENDER lilies, Aeturna noctis, haak, soulders, guacamele 1 and 2, fist, and so on.
