This is VERY smart to do. And anyone who says otherwise obviously has not paid for a pair of shoes multiple times. I can definitely see people who own red bottoms doing this.

Wow this is awesome! I have scotch guarded my shoes but never at the bottom this is cool. I love your shoes too, really pretty and a classic you can always wear they will always be in style. Tfs 💕

This is super helpful, I have not really done much in the way of protection with my shoes. I have one pair of yellow sneakers that somehow got a stain on them that looks like ink but it can't ink. I have no idea what it is, but is very frustrating. And that is great you protect the bottom. These are great shoes BTW. You really take protection seriously. I may have to try this. Are they leather? Perhaps a leather cleaner could help?!
