Klaus is a true gentleman, he never sold out The Beatles for money, dragged their names through the mud for profit. He's a rarity in these times, a true friend that has stayed loyal to his friends.
    God bless You Klaus.

One night Klaus was randomly walking down a seedy alleyway in Hamburg, and heard music coming from a club. He went in, the crowd was sparse. He watched Rory Storm complete their set, and then remained to see the following band The Beatles. He was blown away, and became friends with the band. Klaus is perhaps one of the first 'insiders' and has been close to the Beatle organization since!

Klaus always had a great spirit about him. Glad they remained friends. Paul seems like he’d be a joy to work with. Paul is riveting to watch and Klaus covered some good ground musically along the way. Thanks for sharing.

    • @Kieop

Paul has never been able to process loss. I believe that he has an attachment disorder stemming from this -- the same one which underpins hoarding (a transfer of attachment from people to objects which represent them). That is why he cares so much about preserving these instruments -- he also has Spike Milligan's piano. It is also why he gets so upset when things come up for auction and can be ruthless with people who put things up for sale that he believes should be his (Patti Boyd's having an auction this week, so we'll see if that affects him or not). For him, the people he's lost are never gone so long as he has these objects. That is what I believe anyway. I think the song Junk is best understood in this context as well.

"In 2008, Paul McCartney recorded it again with Klaus Voormann & Ringo Starr; this version appears on Klaus Voormann’s “A Sideman’s Journey“ The song he recorded with Paul and Ringo for this project has an interesting story. It’s the old Fats Domino song “I’m In Love Again” (previously covered by Paul on the CHOBA B CCCP album). The reason for this choice was that this was the first ever song where Klaus tried his hand at playing the bass guitar. Klaus made his debut as a bass guitarist sitting next to the stage at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg, borrowing Stu Sutcliffe’s Höfner 333 while The Beatles performed the song. "

To answer the Benny Hinn comment - I don't think that John would have cared that Paul recorded some of these old songs. He did a full album of old 50's and 60's songs called Rock 'n' Roll back in the 70's. There's nothing like a bunch of musicians getting together and playing old songs that you love and enjoy playing. It just makes music fun. These guys have nothing prove to anyone, they made their mark in music history, now they do what they do because they enjoy it, not for anyone's approval.

Lennon ripped off the line 'here come old flattop' on Cometogether, from an old song. The publishers wanted to sue him. The publishers also owned many of the rock classics from 50's - 60's. So Lennon made a deal. He did the rock covers and released it as a great album. The publishers made a lot of money from sales of Lennon's album. Lennon got out of a lawsuit, had a lot of fun recording some of his old favorite songs. And we the listeners got to hear great versions of songs, done by John Lennon.. Kind of a win-win for everyone

You know what's somehow most telling here? The last 10 seconds when Paul is reciting from memory in German what he must have heard countless times in Hamburg clubs. And he remembers it through all these years. I remember train station announcements in Switzerland from some trips years ago - it's just so random and so true.

Und nachher das Spinett, das Harmonium, alles Instrumente, zu denen ich einen Bezug habe, und dann noch Paul McCartney daran, das ist wie eine Droge.
