  • Hello Friends! Many of you with TMJ Disorders have questions regarding what foods are OK to eat, especially when you have a flare-up with symptoms. I see these questions on FB support groups, in my UA-cam comments & on my Instagram so I was inspired to make this video. This video contains helpful tips on what to eat and what to avoid when you're having a TMJD setback: increased clicking or popping in the jaw joints, episodes of the jaw locking, headaches, jaw pain, ear pain, and more!
As always, I hope this video proves informative to those of you who are or have patients who are suffering from TMJD!

Hi Dr.Mistry, I have been suffering from very bad facial pressure every SINGLE DAY since the past 2 & 1/2 months, it gets so intense at times I can feel my face and jaw constricting, went to a ENT at first thinking it’s related to sinus but have been on their treatment regimen since a month and there has not been any progress whatsoever. I stumbled upon TMJ and found your videos !
Could TMJ start slower and build up over months? Cause my symptoms were somewhat bearable first and progressed …
Can TMJ cause pressure on the forehead (like tension headache but x10times more painful) and behind the eyes?

@@theTMJdoc My pain started last November after a wisdom teeth extraction surgery. It was horrible muscle pain for months, finally got better in late March. Was pain free from then until a couple weeks ago when I think I started straining my jaw muscles again when I started lifting weights. It was mild pain and managable. After a dentist visit where my jaw range of motion was extremely small I started using gentle jaw (been on it for a few days now). My pain (which was on my right side, underneath ear, I think one of the pterogoids?) has been reduced by a lot and my range of motion is increasing a ton in only a few days! Hello thier I enjoyed the video. I got my orthotic splint which lines the top middle line of my teeth with the bottom. I told the dentist about jaw manipulation. I showed him your channel...I noticed My left side that when I pushed gently would make a crunch sound. That is getting better. However. As I mentioned my cartilage has started to grind together when I swallow on the left side of my throat. I went for test about 4 months ago and My food was going into my stomach. So after about 3 weeks with this new orthotic. noticed when I eat my through would feel more tense. Like theirs more pressure around my Adams apple and right at the bottom of my throat I keep thinking I am getting Dysphagia. It rely is a bad felling and now I feel the food staying in my throat a little. Then it goes down slow .I hope I am just panicking. I am scared to keep the splint in now. I am using my night one but might stop using that also. I don't know if I should just keep using the splint and eat way less because I did eat a lot for 4 days in a row. I only at a little today and it wasn't good. I was hoping that if I keep the splint that the symptoms would clear up and with hard work get myself swallowing normal again. I also had a aura migraine attack 2 week prior to my orthotic and my vision is not the same. I am going to se a doctor for that also. I am discouraged and the doctors here are not like in USA.I just don't no if I should continue treatment. I have been waiting so long for this. It always seems to be a trade of. It seems to be healing that crunch on my left side. Where I push on my left tmj and around that ear was always sore and swollen in the mri. Well I no tmj can effect many things. I don't no if others experience this with thier orthotic ?It always seems to be a trade of. Like my last dentist with the orthotic sixth that we used to eventually put crowns after my bit was better. That made pressure worse in my head and back of it. The pressure that was being mad worse went away. When I took it of I felt pretty good for about 2 weeks. It fixed some things like when I would talk the tightness would build so greatly it was unreal. Now its just the pressure in my teeth and that itself is better ass well. I am hoping that its the same with this one. Its always a trade of .I don't no if I leave this in and it heals everything but makes other symptoms worse while its in. When i wore a 30 dolor mouth gard the pressure in my face would go away 80% but then gradually go into my neck 80%. and vise versa when off. Maybe this is the same way.. Then it will leave when out. I no thier scare tissue that must have healed wrong before and is pulling on things but not sure. Do you no of.. DrJimMcCarty?. I wont send a long message again but its hard to explain in a short story

@@theTMJdoc thank you for replying doc. Your videos literally saved me from wisdom tooth extraction and I got my cbct done few days back. Actually the doc rated the condition 4/10 and advised me to get tens therapy and my sleep appliance. Should I consider it now or later? Actually I have financial issues and also I don't wanna wear the day device and then get braces 😫😫

Hey Im 13 and i hard mewed improperly and it's caused my left muscle to get bigger and my right one stayed like it was and I have tmj now I can't move my jaw back and there is a article which says if I move my jaw by 2mm forward it should ifx my tmj but when I do that it activates my left jaw muscle which is already big and I was wondering whether it will get even bigger cause I already look assymetrical because of hard mewing

Mam i am 19 year old male..
Due to my uneven teeth alignment only one of my masseter grown more which made my face asymmetric.
But just one month ago i started my braces treatment.
So my question is can my one side masseter shrink after my teeth regain their original position.
or simply if they came align again can my one side masseter reduce naturally?

My jaw feels like a loose screw than anything else, opening and closing feels normal except at times when it falters. I probably either need physical therapy (a lot of joint problems gets fixed by doing it) or return back to my orthodontist to get a further look at it.
