Alright, I guess it's my turn to do one of these. Sit tight cause this is a long one. Learning to Roll @ 1:03 - The WR on this level was improved right before the deadline for this Rampage. Clutch! Full Speed Ahead @ 2:04 - Look at how FAST this guy moves, definitely one of the best Chapter 1 runs. Stay Frosty @ 2:28 - Somehow, a path fast enough to beat the Classic WR was found. Not only that, but m2k managed to land an incredibly good time. His luck here is unparalleled. Also, Ice is Slippery! Leaf on the Wind @ 2:58 - CMurder landed a very impressive run on this level, and it looked very hard to beat. If anyone was gonna top it, it was gonna be m2k. Beautiful stuff. Duality @ 3:27 - My MAN AndyC finally gets a spot in a Rampage, welcome aboard mate. Smooth run. Learning to Bounce @ 3:43 - Just one of the many examples of how n0sn0wflakes can make the most out of a path that requires an unreal amount of precision. Incredible. Great Wall @ 3:54 - See above. Over the Garden Wall @ 5:08 - Treeboy went on to improve this record several times after the Rampage deadline, very nice. Wave Pool @ 5:51 - I got a pretty nasty time on this level and Koogee demolished it with a new path like... the next day? Creative stuff. Stepping Stones @ 7:35 - If this run looks crazy, that's because it is crazy. Speedball @ 8:00 - The WR on this level had a missing replay for the longest time, until Hooray found that rock hit at the start. I bet you'll see plenty more tweaks from this guy in the future. Mount Marblius @ 8:16 - Um... okay SpKi. Go off son. Sugar Rush @ 9:20 - Boomer making another appearance to show everyone he's still got it. Well done. Outskirts @ 10:07 - It truly is difficult to put into words how unbelievable this run is. One of my favourites in this Rampage. I don't see this one being beaten for a long time. Bad Company @ 11:25 - I remember when it seemed like no viable skips would be found for this level, and yet, it managed to result in one of the flashiest routes in the game. Awesome stuff. Overclocked @ 12:30 - 45 minutes left on the deadline? Yeah I got this ;) Tether @ 13:15 - Wow n0sn0wflakes, what a way to open Chapter 4. Ricochet @ 13:57 - Berserk managed to get a run on this level that feels near impossible to beat. Very clean. Sun Spire @ 14:40 - Wait... m2k dressed up as Koogee for Halloween? What shenanigans is this! Thunderdrome @ 15:28 - Gem predictions? Check. Grabbing stuff through walls? Check. This route is insane. Gearing Up @ 17:12 - There's something about gear/cog levels having insane runs in this game. Bravo CMurder. Newton's Cradle @ 19:35 - It seemed like the 270 degree turn skip would be impossible in Ultra due to physics changes, but Koogee found a way to make it work. Phenomenal. Kleinsche @ 20:52 - I have no idea who onegin is, but their path here is one of my favourites in the whole game. This must've taken some serious thinking! Dire Straits @ 21:29 - I still cannot believe how good this run is. If someone finds something crazy, m2k wont be far away. Glacier @ 22:39 - Wow... just wow. Koogee is nuts. Shift @ 23:21 - Shoutout to Madlogger. Flip the Table @ 24:23 - This level has been a routing headache for quite some time. What you're seeing here is by far the best the level has ever seen. Energy @ 24:57 - All the edgehits and crazy tight movement make this run just... insane. Mobius Madness @ 25:53 - Gravity changes, Time Travel pickups, edgehits, walhits... all ingredients that make up a fantastic route. Rondure @ 27:16 - If you have no idea what's going on here, that's okay, we don't know either. Penrose Pass @ 28:17 - Yeah just do this very precise crystal edgehit, no worries. Symbiosis @ 30:18 - I'm very happy I pulled off this run, but what many of you don't see is what's behind this run. Pathfinding mastery from linguini15 and Madlogger, along with tweaks from myself, AndyC and m2k, make this level as fast as it is. I wouldn't have gotten close to this run without the sheer amount of talent our community possesses, or all the encouragement I got when chasing this WR. It's a thing of beauty because we all pitched in. Vertigo @ 32:06 - Is it really a Marble it Up Rampage if there's no sub-3 Vertigo? Tossed About @ 32:28 - This level is unique because it's fastest on Switch for... some reason. Regardless, a smooth run from PDC. Speaking of, it's great to see some Switch players in this rampage. I wonder if any PlayStation/Xbox players will make a run for the Bonus Rampage? Apogee @ 33:13 - I was lucky enough to see this run live. m2k landed this within an hour of the deadline. If that's not clutch, I don't know what is. A fitting finale for a fantastic video. My expectations for this Rampage were blown out of the water. I didn't think it would live up to the 2nd Classic Rampage from 2023, but, hey, we did it! The music choices were solid and the editing was very effective - I loved the little things like the extra cinematics and the songs syncing up to the gameplay in key moments. Most of all, the runs themselves were all incredibly solid, and an absolute blast to watch back. Shoutouts to m2k, who not only took home a haul of 31 WRs, but also did a great job putting all the footage together. You were one of my biggest motivators to stay in this community and keep grinding, so I owe you one. Shoutouts to VilleOlof, who created a number of tools (like replay trackers, a Records Bot in the official Discord, and a leaderboard) to help us keep track of new World Records. We couldn't have done it without you! Shoutouts to Elomith and thearst3rd, who both developed some very helpful mods, like the Custom Cosmetics Loader! Aren't those marbles pretty? Man. This was so fun to watch. Great job! I noticed most aim for the far right/left side of the goal. Is that some kind of early hit detection goin on or somethin?
Nah not exactly, I think it just depends on where you're approaching the goal from and what momentum you have. No point turning more towards the goal if the left/right side is closest to you and you're already going fast. A bunch of routes just end up having you line up off-centre anyways. Either that or we just aren't very good at aiming ;)
If you didn't gather, it's a square hitbox. So the shortest line to the goal isn't necessarily toward the center of the goal, but toward the closest point on the square (often one of the corners). We did test out a cylinder hitbox in beta but it would have caused more problems than it solved.
Huge vid, only one mistake with Koogee being the actual runner on Sun Spire if it wasnt obvious, hope you all enjoyed the video and I look forward to making the bonus rampage sometime this early summer
