Minecraft Pro Tipp: Use the same construction that Steve uses in the end but change the cauldron with a Trapped Chest. Once you open it the Redstone signal deactivates the hopper under it and you can put in any item without risking to destroy it instantly. Once you double checked that only items you really wanted to destroy are in the chest close it and they will be all burned.
Alternative is have it hooked to a lever. That way you can still close it and once it's full. Pull the lever and flush the items away. The flaw with this though is remembering to flip it back to safety.
I did something similar with item sorter, so only the items that i want are sent to the lava and any mistaken item not in the list goes to a separate storage.
The fact that Steve was able to just kindly remove the thorns instead of taking the opportunity to pull some heinous prank is some of the best character development in modern fiction hands down.

Yeah, I have a double chest that flushes its contents into lava (via hopper, dispenser etc) when I press a button. My cousin came up with it, super nice.

I am confused about one thing though. What exactly did Steve put together for that trashcan? I guess you can call it? I’m not very familiar with the Minecraft video game. I’ve never actually played it myself.
Essentially, Steve made a machine that deposits items into the lava, instantly destroying them How it works: items are deposited into the cauldron. The hopper underneath draws the items out as they come in and deposits them into the dropper. Then, a redstone signal (think of it as an electric signal) is detected from the dropper. This in turn is picked up by a comparitor, which compares the signal going in against the signal coming out. It sends out a pulse of electricity at the strength of the compared item (it's complicated to explain). It finally loops around to the back of the dropper, which causes it to drop the item into the lava!

This reminds me of when I helped clean and sort my friend's 5 (full) double chests worth of items. A trick from my books is to give yourself extra inventory space by placing down a barrel, chest, or better yet - a shulker box to help you move around all the items into place.
This is surprisingly a wholesome relationship between eachother, even if they cartoon laugh at eachother.
It's actually the first time Alex has really laughed at Steve for something he epic failed on.

I make a hole, fill it with lava (No nearby wood) and put some slabs around it so I don't fall in but still have a hole to toss stuff in with.
