- These Tetragnatha versicolor spiders can actually walk on water easier than it can walk on land. In this video, I'm showing you how they walk/swim on water. It's no wonder these are always found building horizontal webs right over water. This was recorded at 6 Mile Waterworks/ Rensselear Lake in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Thanks for watching!

Tetragnatha versicolor is a species of long-jawed orb weaver in the spider family Tetragnathidae. It is found throughout North America, Canada, Central America, and Cuba, but are most common in the United States.

I went to Lake Murray, South Carolina recently and I saw what I think is this same species (or a very similar one) hanging out on the underside of a pier.
Yeah here in md i fish every week and i find one of these on about every single branch next to the water’s edge
