    I'm a lifetime Montrealer. a Jew, and I have parents that speak some Yiddish. 2-1/2 out of three. Meanwhile, this is going to be a great series and I predict it will go viral!

    As an American who lived six years in Zurich, I understand just about all the French and can piece together about 80% of the Yiddish. Great stuff. I watched this when it first came out and swing by for a rerun every year or so.

    You guys seriously have to try and get a netflix deal or SOMETHING! If the other actors don't know Yiddish, then g-d just give them phonetic scripts! I am a young Jewish woman in America and I think constantly about how among the precious things stolen from us, Yiddish may be the most precious of all. I do not speak it but I want to learn and then i want to teach other young diaspora jews. I dream of Yiddish noise bands, Yiddish sitcoms, yiddish cooking shows. It doesn't have to die if we don't let it. Sorry I'm rambling this show jsut brings me so much joy.
    (Also shout out to Canadian Jews! I was born in Toronto and raised in Vancouver before I moved to the US!)

      +M Benyossef I just found out the First Avenue Ess-a-Bagel closed! I hear they're reopening across the street, and in the meantime there is the uptown location...

    • @guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272
      @guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 8 років тому

      Kevin Donohue You know, I work at 55th and 3rd, not far from their Midtown location, and I never had one of their bagels. I ride my bike to work often (from Staten Island, of all places) and much of my route is Pike Street, Allen Street and 1st Ave, and I pass the East Village location as well as the Midtown. Are they that good?. Have you had a Kossar's Bagel? But these are NYC bagels -- Montreal bagels are a totally different thing, and I might like them better. Heresy for a New Yorker to say, I'll admit. (I was basically raised in Brooklyn and Staten Island, but my parents are Israeli and I was born in Boston, so maybe I'm not a true New Yorker.)

    • @guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272

      M Benyossef My sister lived in Stuy Town for decades, which is how I know them - I live up the Hudson but try to stop whenever I'm in the City - the 51st St. location is more easier to get to. For me, they define bagels!
      The First Ave. place had chopped herring salad - I used to get that on a bagel then walk down to Moishe's on 2nd at 7th for some hammentaschen. Yum!
