Amazing video. Not only printed a whole set, but reviewed creators along the way, assembled all minis and painted them. And provided a machine review on top of that. Most youtubers would split this into 3 - 5 videos. This is top quality and should see more exposure within 3d printing community.
Lol that remark around the 7:30 mark, i 100% agree with, i literally unboxed my saturn 3, leveled the plate, dialed the resin in, and have been non stop printing for 3 months, no adjustments besides throwing a heater in the room it prints. Its a science that has been well documented and easy to follow along with. Not an art in itself.
Thanks! And good luck in your own UA-cam journey. I dunno if it helps but for me the trick seems to be absolutely murdering myself with the amount of work that goes into every video haha.

@@OnceinaSixSide Honestly the biggest challenge to rating stuff is I always run island checks in the slicer, add any missing supports and use UV tools to fix minor errors. Love your quick and efficient paint schemes; I agree with you in that the little bit of extra time to do the rough edge highlights really paid off. Great stuff.
I agree with your assessment of "not a hobby". I've had a AnyCubic for a couple years now and I have just run gallons of resin through it with little to no messing around with it. I have to change the FEP occasionally and the standard "cleaning out the vat" chores, but aside from that it's just another consumer electronic device. One of the wonders of 3D printers is how much they just work.
It really can be all smooth sailing once you're up and running with a calibrated profile! Presupported files permitting lol. Thanks for your comment :)
First time I see any of your videos and I learned more than ever about 3D printing in one comprehensive video. I haven't printed anything for a while, but you brought me back into the hobby.
So I just got into printing, especially minis, and this video is amazing-- I learned about new websites, stuff about my own printer, and the review system you have is straight up bonkers amazing dude. Instant sub, keep up the amazing work!
Phenomenal video man! Honestly, your content is such a joy. Gorgeous camera work, snazzy 3D segments, and smooth audio. You think about the viewer too! You've clearly put thought into the pacing, and it pays off. Really kept me interested throughout. It's so satisfying to see a project from start to finish. Going from resin to a board of painted minis is inspiring, makes me want to whip up a project. Keep doing what you're doing man! I'm so glad I found your channel :))
I have an Anycubic photon mono 2. I am blown away by resin 3d printing. It’s amazing at how this machine can print just about anything with no he amounts of detail it produces. I haven’t had to mess with the settings at all and I have had perfect prints on about everything that I have printed. I have had only 2 failed prints on this machine and that was my fault, lol. I had corrupted files, go figure. But with that being said it is well worth the money to get one of these machines be it Anycubic or any other brand. I encourage it thoroughly.
This video is outstanding. I appreciate all the work you put into it, and also for answering the question, "What's required for non-cardboard tabletop gaming?" We see here the rules, two different kill-teams, some great terrain, and a little painting infoz.
Like @5az2 said, the end-to-end review process and fantastic production value (lighting, video quality, not recording on a headset mic in a room that's so echo-y it sounds like you're in a quarry) really elevates this above other channels. Subbed, and definitely looking through your back catalog. Str8 gr8 m8, I r8 it 8/8
This is the first of your videos I’ve watched and I was not disappointed. I will definitely be watching more. I have an Elegoo Mars 3 so many of your comments, particularly the fan-off firmware upgrade, are things I want to know 👍 One suggestion, mention the layer height that you used to print the different components. For example, was everything, walls and minis, printed using the same layer height, or did you go big for the terrain? Subscription ticked.
Those minis look very good for a 50 micron layer height. I forgot to mention in the original comment; I’m eager to see your video on installing flexible build plates on a resin printer. I’ve used one on my FDM printer for nearly 5 years but never really thought of using them for the resin printer, but watching how easy you removed prints has sold me on the idea.
27:12 " thoses things are plastic wrapped and im a moron " * look at my own two filters for my mars 2 pro * * open * " aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand im also a moron "
Just got recommended this channel. Cant believe you have only 7k subscribers. I smell a good fortune for you my lad! Cheers! Mr. Nurgle sends some GROW regards.
Thank you so much for showing the terrain, I've been looking for a suitable proxy and thought the same for myself, they're good, but they don't feel quite right, but this kickstarter looks amazing!
I apologize for the mildly off-topic question, but what is the track you are playing at 16:40 while showing the walls? That light drumming and deep vocal sound is awesome but Shazam is of no help!
100% the correct rules lol. OPR is the way to go...As a fairly experienced resin printer I found the whole video a joy to watch. Keep up the quality content!
This video was absolutely outstanding! Actually getting ready to 3D print all these pieces now... Especially those guard proxies, they're so damn cool!
So glad the algorithm has deigned to show your video in my feed. watched from beginning to end, great editing, great pacing and had me watching from beginning to end. I had to stifle a laugh when you used that massive flatbrush on the terrain but those solar auxillia models came out looking AWESOME. definitely earned a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for making this video, I picked up one of these and the mercury x during the prime day sale. Actually, had quite a few issues with amazon sending me first the wrong printer and then a damaged one, finally the third one works and is amazing. But I have been lacking in knowledge, pretty much just going at it and making whatever I have wanted, which is great but sometimes the prints turn out poorly or I don't understand settings. Finding this video has been a greet teaching moment and I cannot wait to dive in more when I have time to make even more high-quality prints. Oh, and that carbon filter works in my opinion, at least with water washable resin. I have had no issues keeping it running at my hobby desk, however I do have a bottle of normal resin as a gift so it will be spending some time the garage when I get around to using that up.
Would you recommend this as a first 3d printer? I just saw the new GW prices and wow. Def interested in this if for no other reason than terrain and small things like bits
Absolutely! You'll need some patience tuning your exposure time but then after that provided you have some nice files to print it's a pretty great little machine.
Love this video. Watched it and finally decided to bite the bullet and get a resin printer. Got the Mars 3 Pro because it seemed to do well in this vid. Been using it with Siraya Tech Fast ABS-like grey resin and haven't had much issues beyond the initial setup. Funnily enough I've started looking into doing what this vid did, making a Kill Team starter box.
This is the first of your videos I've seen, and wow i'm blown away. Only just nabbed my own 3d printer so i'll be sure to check out that tutorial and have a think about a flex plate too
Mars 3 Pro is great! Really happy with mine and the only issue I can think of after 4 months of usage is: there is no way I'll be able to clean the UV cover from these nasty resin/IPA stains. UVtools is a must have for sure!
Deserved a sub! Funny you mentioned at the end about the Z lift at the end of print. On my saturn 2 it is more of a bug due to build volume and height. Causing the resin to splash all over inside the cover which slightly melts the acrylic cover. This was remedied with a quick email to support and a firmware update so that it now lifts about half way up (depending on print size) which is plenty enough to remove the prints already. However I still understand your point having owned Longer orange 10 which did not really lift after finishing the print. rant over anyway will def check more videos and your STLs and if I like what I see Ill toss in a coffee
Fellow Aussie Dark Gods here - Awesome video. I really need to paint up some terrain for my own table at home. I'd love to design a skirmish team at some point also. Presupporting is difficult, I both love and hate that the market shifted to be all presupported. Love that it is easy to download my favourite creators prints and throw them on instantly, but hate how difficult it can be to keep up and compete as a one man operation for the most point with how many hats I have to wear to get these models out haha. Especially when we are almost pressured to sell a model that may have taken 50-100+ hours designing/refinining/supporting/printing (Ripjawz) for a few dollars. I still love the industry though and those that choose to support us like yourself, and I look forward to more of your content.
Thanks! Awesome to hear from a fellow Aussie and creator in this industry. I completely sympathise with you guys and the workload involved to bring printable minis to the tabletop. I did presupports professionally for a while, and to do it well including all the test printing and revisions takes a lot of time.
i just randomly stumbled upon your channel, mate you have such high quality content, i was shocked when i saw how few subsribers you have! Keep up the good work, you gained a sub
Firstly, I'm pleased I'm a member on your buy me a coffee so I got the early sneak preview/behind the scenes, was awesome and I'm pleased to see the edited video too! Great content as always! More importantly thanks for your ongoing to push to hold creators to a decent standard and make it easier than ever to get into the hobby, I often hear it's a hobby in itself to learn 3D printing and it's refreshing to hear about it from your point of view that it's tool maintenance which I'd agree with. Sure, you can dive in more if you want and make it a hobby, but if you just want to use it to lower the cost of minis then it can be that too. Keep it up dude.
Love this video!! And your content!! Follower and fan. I know this is an older video, and don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but dialing in your resin printer is also HUGE with getting prints to come out right. Lot of people just go right in without doing this and lead to bad prints, no prints or issues.
I've tried a couple Mars 3 for my business, and at this point theirs no way I can recommend it. First one had a squeaky Z Axis and lasted a couple weeks before the motor gave out and I sent it back. 2nd one I got last month and it arrived as a dud. Just do yourself a favor, get a Mars 2S. About 50 bucks cheaper, pretty easy to find for 180 bucks. It lasts for a lot longer and the quality and build size is about the same as the Mars 3. You'll get about 4 months out of the screen as a power user, and while the screen is 1080p, you really don't lose much detail even at small sizes. If you're looking to spend more, just grab the Saturn. Though I'd recommend starting with the Mars 2S. This is because Elegoo has a factory warranty on most things up to 6 months. So when a part inevitably fails, hit up Elegoo and they'll send you a new part. If you fix these yourself you'll learn a ton and it helps to know how to replace a screen on a cheaper model before trying it on a 500 dollar Saturn without prior experience. Long read but hopefully worth it for whoever wants to get into resin printing. My only advice is to not go in thinking this is an Easy Bake Oven, it a machine you're gonna dial in and repair. It's messy and frustrating but super rewarding with the tangible results you get, especially when you make your own 3d models. Oh and print in a garage, the fumes will irritate your throat if their just floating around a room. The resin isn't really all that toxic to the touch, so bare hands is fine just wash up with soap before going out in the sun or that resin is gonna cure on your hands and burn like hell. TLDR: You can be rough on these, just know how to fix it, and hit up Elegoo if you have problems. Mars 2S > Mars 3 for newbies, and be patient. It's gonna go wrong, a lot. Thanks for whoever read this book.
made my purchase based off this video! i had been on the fence about whether to wait for the sonic mini 8k S as my first printer but after seeing this i think the mars 3 pro will suit my needs just fine. very nervous because i'm pretty new to 3d printing (especially intimidated about installing a flex plate properly lol), so thank you for the invaluable resource of information you bring with your videos! i'll make sure to keep doing my homework
I'm using a frankenstein mix of different superglues all thrown into one bottle. Seems to hold incredibly well! I think it was my harlequins video where I show what the mix is made up of.
Just watched your Videos the first time. Really good Job! No way you have Just around 7k subscribers. Instantly subscribed. Looking forward for more of your high quality Content.
I must say, your channel is truly outstanding, thank you for the clear and honest expertise on 3d printing. I never knew that presupported files problem was so common before which I definitely needed to know. I've been on the fence on resinprinters for a while, although I love my fdm printer and I think I'm confident enough to get started! Especially since I have been eyeing the solar guard in particular. Would you recommend printing them for a complete beginner? I heard that some redmaker presupports can be dicey. Subscribed! Love your channel, and I'm looking forward to seeing it grow.
Thanks William! Would 100% recommend the Solar Guard for beginners. Basically an A Tier rating denotes minor problems, but nothing that *should* impact printing or trip a noobie up. As for their back catalogue.. Well, if they've gone back and treated their previous releases with the same care then yeah absolutely, otherwise be on the lookout for print failures!
I recently tried to print a full sized Roman Gladius (in sections) for my boyfriend, (Creality LD-002R/Aurarum resin) ended up with curved bottoms. So curved bottoms is "normal" when printing walls perpendicular to the build plate?
Amazing video. I could not fine a video about checking ones support and what programs you use (and/or have tested) for the job. It is a great idea with a ranking system for all creators.
Thanks! Have a look at my video on supports, its timestamped and has sections showing how to use UV Tools to check for unsupported islands. Slice Print Roleplay also has a good video on UV Tools worth checking out too :)
In Chitubox you can do multi parameter slices for the elegoo printers to print different models at different exposure settings. So you can theoretically do something similar to what anycubic does.
Have you seen redmaker's new solar guard proper kill team! I was so excited when I saw them, if I wasn't in the middle of building and printing a guard army I would so grab and print them. Also what are you running the solar guard as in GF firefight?
First video I've watched and I don't even 3d print. This was such an interesting video thanks so much! I might actually get into 3d printing just from this video alone
Gave me a mini-stress issue when I saw this video. I just got my first 3D resin, the Mars3Pro. Have you noticed the flex plate you added failing during a print? I keep hearing about how full bed printing (on this machine) the suction force pulls off the corners and it may fall down. I haven't had a need for the air filter yet. I noticed no fumes until I open it, and then I just open a window. Could be I use water washable.
Haha my apologies. I'm really happy to say I haven't seen that issue here on this flex plate. It's definitely something that happens on my Mono X/BIQU Flex setup, and yeah it's not great when that does happen - it doesn't necessarily result in print failures, but it does reduce dimensional accuracy by quite a bit. Not a big deal for minis, but becomes a problem for larger prints.
Thanks for the video! A question: I'm just approaching teh 3D resin printing, and I can't understand why some pieces must be printed "diagonally", and other similar perfectly vertically. At 7:30 you print the walls vertically, but the doors diagonally. Why? Thank you mate!
Amazing video. Not only printed a whole set, but reviewed creators along the way, assembled all minis and painted them. And provided a machine review on top of that. Most youtubers would split this into 3 - 5 videos. This is top quality and should see more exposure within 3d printing community.
Thank you very much!
And for that reason alone, I like and subscribe. A truly rare event. 😊
To be fair he didn’t print the box or the manual so he failed the challenge

I know this is an older video, and don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but dialing in your resin printer is also HUGE with getting prints to come out right. Lot of people just go right in without doing this and lead to bad prints, no prints or issues.
Yes! Thank you!
Some of the best 3d printing content I've ever seen. Subbed.
Wow thank you!
Nice! You clearly deserve more subscribers. Your videography and host skills are on point.
Thank you so much 😃
the sound is on point!
Love your videos.
made my purchase based off this video! i had been on the fence about whether to wait for the sonic mini 8k S as my first printer but after seeing this i think the mars 3 pro will suit my needs just fine. very nervous because i'm pretty new to 3d printing (especially intimidated about installing a flex plate properly lol), so thank you for the invaluable resource of information you bring with your videos! i'll make sure to keep doing my homework
Excellent video! Truly enjoyed it.
for such a small channel, your editing is amazing. Love it!
For a small channel you are putting out super high quality stuff
Great video! And exactly the sort of thing I’ve been looking for
The video quality is so good i just want to watch and watch and watch
May I ask how you've sorted your files into separate types like that at 21:15? You've got different sections for each file type.
Sure! Right click in the folder somewhere then go to Group By and choose Type
@@OnceinaSixSide Thanks!!
I love your videos! I am excited to be getting my printer on Cyber-Monday. I will be printing imperial guard and Battletech! Great videos 🎉🎉
Absolutely every resin 3d printer NEEDS a flexplate. I gone one and have never gone back. I got mine from Wham Bam and totally recommend them.
What type of glue are you using for your minis? Ive found regular super glue really doesnt set with the resin.
I'm using a frankenstein mix of different superglues all thrown into one bottle. Seems to hold incredibly well! I think it was my harlequins video where I show what the mix is made up of.
I do not do any 3d printing or any warhammer stuff at all, yet this video was immensely interesting and I could mostly follow it. Subscribed!
Awesome, thanks!
nice - good long format video, nice choice of subject and good editing - well done :)
Excellent production!
Just watched your Videos the first time.
Really good Job! No way you have Just around 7k subscribers.
Instantly subscribed. Looking forward for more of your high quality Content.
Welcome aboard!
Great video! So many reviews and useful information all in one video.
Fantastic, I'll give them shot. Thanks for all you do
I recently tried to print a full sized Roman Gladius (in sections) for my boyfriend, (Creality LD-002R/Aurarum resin) ended up with curved bottoms. So curved bottoms is "normal" when printing walls perpendicular to the build plate?
Yeah it's best to avoid it and angle stuff away from the build plate wherever you can.
A really great video mate, I found it really useful.
Great video. Subbed. Looking forward to more quality content like this
Awesome video, high quality and really interesting. You are fast becoming one of my favorite youtubers
Cheers James!
Great video and great project. I know I'm a year late, but anybody know the file for the little guy at the end with the incense burner and the staff?
Amazing video. I could not fine a video about checking ones support and what programs you use (and/or have tested) for the job. It is a great idea with a ranking system for all creators.
Thanks! Have a look at my video on supports, its timestamped and has sections showing how to use UV Tools to check for unsupported islands. Slice Print Roleplay also has a good video on UV Tools worth checking out too :)
In Chitubox you can do multi parameter slices for the elegoo printers to print different models at different exposure settings. So you can theoretically do something similar to what anycubic does.
Very cool video. It was very well done. I used a mars 3 for all the stuff we create over on our patreon / tribe as well.
Have you seen redmaker's new solar guard proper kill team! I was so excited when I saw them, if I wasn't in the middle of building and printing a guard army I would so grab and print them. Also what are you running the solar guard as in GF firefight?
This video will be at 100k views by this time next year. Very high quality content.
Incredible video, production values are amazing.
Much appreciated!
First video I've watched and I don't even 3d print. This was such an interesting video thanks so much! I might actually get into 3d printing just from this video alone
Epic! Resin printing really can be so straight forward :D
Ditto here too!
Waiting for your must haves in resin printing! especially the flex plate
Finally found terrain that I like. Thanks for the indirect recommendation. ;-)
Dude I loved your channel before and you know it . I'm a bit late on this video but man you've grown ! ❤️
Weolyn! Great to see you in the comments again :D Yeah it's been a hectic year for sure, and many more videos to come!
@@OnceinaSixSide Well thank you for responding. That is good to know.
Awesome video, looking forward to more from this channel.
Thanks for the video! A question: I'm just approaching teh 3D resin printing, and I can't understand why some pieces must be printed "diagonally", and other similar perfectly vertically. At 7:30 you print the walls vertically, but the doors diagonally. Why? Thank you mate!
