    Just ran across this video so thanks for posting it! The PVC side of any system is the "dirty" side and flows out of the engine, whereas the other side will be taking in air and flows into the engine, any back flow would be reason to investigate and on a boosted application the crankcase pressures might back flow so a dedicated breather might be a good thing to install on those. Our ZL1 has a breather but our Mustang GT has just a catch can. Back pressure can leak thru engine seals and lead to problems.

    Just got a UPR catch can and I really like it. Multiple steps to avoid oil getting by. I found on my JLT there was still oil in the line going out. Let’s see how it performs over time.

    It's much easier to remove and pour out. No loaing tiny screws too. It's designed to be drained by pouring out the bottom line.

    Seems opposite of like a 4.6 in the 03-04 cobras. The driver's side catches more like due to how the PVC system flows.

    Maybe you should read your manual . recommended for track use separator requires, no maintenance oil drain back to engine!

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  27 днів тому

      Hi W! This Oil Separator does require Maintenance (as noted in the manual). If you take a look at Page 3 of the manual for both M-6766-A50 and M-6766-A50S (IS-1850-0526 and IS-1850-0525) it shows Maintenance is required and is based on the type of driving. Maintenance includes "frequent checks for accumulation of oil in the separator" and "removing the separator to empty oil out" Also notice the manual also includes torque specs if removal of the top is required. Cheers!

    I saw a different video with the 5.0 that had more oil on the drivers side. I wonder if different driving behavior, or just a different engine, can effect it.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Рік тому

      Hi fortyninehike! Yeah there are definitely several variables such as the time interval between emptying the cans, air flow of the 5.0 and 5.2, driving styles and probably even what oil weight is used. Cheers!

    I pour the catch can oil back into the oil fill tube. Is that bad?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Brent! I typically throw away the oil that the can has collected. The used oil that has collected in the can has travelled from the engine, intake passages, valve cover in some cases, similar to the rest of the oil currently in the car, it has seen better days LOL So If I need to top off my oil, I prefer using brand new oil vs old one. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    would you have had oil in the oil catch can on the driver's side? if so how often and how much emptied?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Рік тому

      Hi Romiro! I'm running catch cans on both sides. Here is the install for the passenger side ua-cam.com/video/HWyr5pZw6dg/v-deo.html and the install for the driver side ua-cam.com/video/7BwfA0K3gj0/v-deo.html Regarding how often to empty them, as you saw on the video, this will vary quite a bit from car to car depending on it's and age (as the car engine wears it's prone to more oil blow by). Cheers!

    Why wouldn’t Ford just put these in from the factory?

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Місяць тому

      Hi C! That is a good question, I would assume due to emissions restrictions (catch cans would have to be part of the equipment that was certified to be CARB compliant for the vehicles sold in CA). And while that would have it's own cost, I really think it comes down to $ (the main driver behind most if not all industries). If they can save by not putting an item on a vehicle and instead sell it as an upgrade later, from a financial view it makes sense to a company. From a marketing view as well, oh look we have these cool upgrades available for your vehicle lol but that is just my assumption Cheers!
