    The Ford Performance one really is designed to be emptied by pouring out of the bottom connector. Simply push up on the plastic fasteners with a pick or trim tool, disconnect both lines and lift up. Very easy.

      Yes that’s correct I haven’t had to empty mines yet, it so awesome they are so big they hold plenty of fluid but will try this out next oil change.

    All 3 of them could have simply installed/supplied these catch cans with a drain plug with an OPEN/CLOSE ball cock drain....for got who made the one I have on my 2011 Mustang GT CS, but honestly, is a dream come true...no fiddling ,no unscrewing anything....simply remove the red silicone stopper, turn the level to OPEN and drain into a cup....easy peasy! It looks like the JLT only difference is it not painted black! wish I remember who makes it, I'll check it out and let you guys know!

      Hi Mario! Interesting, I haven't seen some with a ball cock drain in a while but yeah it would make the drain process easier. • @e.b.6766
      @e.b.6766 10 місяців тому

      I have a Full Race oil catch can that’s huge. It’s the largest of all I’ve seen. Also, it has a drain-cock for easy emptying. It’s made for F-150 EcoBoost motor applications.
      I modded my Expedition for its installation. Worked great!!! That is until I installed the Full Race charge air cooler (intercooler) kit on my truck; also meant for the F-150. One of the items the kit included was a TurboSmart BOV (blow-off valve).
      After the installation of those components my oil catch can ceased to collect any oil contaminates. Was thinking that was because they were released via the BOV.
      I’m now thinking that after all this time my BOV could be adjusted to a higher release pressure as I feel I’m loosing some boost under heavy acceleration. Thus, I may also be loosing the necessary vacuum needed to suck the contaminants in the catch can.
      Contemplating re-installing the Full Race setup because the JLT installed to take it’s place has such a small capacity.
      Maybe I’ll look at the JLT 3.0, or the Ford Performance setup.
      Thanks for the great review!!!

      Hi Pmaint! Interesting, have you seen air filter soaked in water or frozen with water? I have not experienced very low temperatures, so I have not heard of that issue, do you know what temperatures would cause that, the main issues I'm aware of in extremely low temperatures is antifreeze mix has to be adjusted, likely a block heater is needed and lower weight oil. Any catch can I've ever seen also has condensation in the can mixed with oil it looks milky and gross. Certainly not anything you want mixing with your engine oil. I don't know at what temperature that condensation would freeze at because it does have a little bit of oil mixed with it. Thanks for the video lots of good info.

      Hi Die! Not sure if the Ford Performance will bolt directly to the Ecoboost engine. It may have to be modified to fit which at that point you may as well consider going with a fully aftermarket one since they are universal and the person installing it picks the hoses, clamps and location necessary for installation. • @lyledubois8969
    @lyledubois8969 2 роки тому

    the inlet always enters the area of volume where pressure drop causes liquid to condense, and exit is after the filter or screen, which causes the finest vapours to collect condense and drop out , causing all oil vapour to be separated before entering the intake.

  • @williamhaines8382
    @williamhaines8382 2 місяці тому

    Ford is not a catch can . it's an oil /vapor separator. Requires no mantenance. Vapor to the intake and oil drains back to engine. Designed for track use.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi W! Correct this is an Oil Separator (as noted in the manual and video title). However it does require Maintenance and nope oil does not drain back to engine. If you take a look at Page 3 of the manual for both M-6766-A50 and M-6766-A50S (IS-1850-0526 and IS-1850-0525) it shows Maintenance is required and is based on the type of driving. Maintenance includes "frequent checks for accumulation of oil in the separator" and "removing the separator to empty oil out" Also notice the manual also includes torque specs if removal of the top is required. Cheers!
