@@yannmassard3970 It matters for various reasons. Shooting as a one man band it often doesn't matter what the final output file is as you'll be editing it yourself. But working with TV and film productions there's much more to consider. Everything from a camera's usability on set to how well it integrates with other camera systems on the shoot to the speed you can offload footage. You don't want to hold up the day and have talent waiting to shoot while you're copying stuff from a slow SD card. Does it have clean monitor output so the director can see the feed in video village? Does the output file and codec have the correct meta data to fit into the productions work flow? All those and more are super important.
none of that matter much anymore I have the FS7 MKII and you actually need the expansion pack to get timecode in but they're a few device that can send timecode using the audio channel. I also own the C70 and for SDI I use the Atomos ninja or a Blackmagic HDMI to SDI converter.
The FS-7 is the work horse or docs and tv shows, it’s super widely used. And the footage still holds up today to like FX9, FX6 etc. For that reason alone it’s still a good investment for professional and indie work.
I just picked one up for £1200 with the monitor and found a fs7 mike handle (the one that adjusts easier) for another 200. It's so nice to use and the footage I've shot so far is pretty decent
I shoot with an FS700R. Price has definitely gone up once folks realized with the external recorder you can hit 16bit 4:4:4 4K RAW. Plus it’s a slow motion champ.
@@testowykana1763 this is a cinema camera and you need to know how to shoot with one. Don’t forget the log files make difference. If you haven’t seen footage of what it can do then you don’t know. I don’t want my material to look cookie cutter. That’s how BM and Red cams look.
@@kamikaze1213 sorry, don't want to be rude, but the image quality of the fs700 is worse in every possible regard when compared to Red and BM cameras. I'm now saying you can't shoot something nice on it. You can. But it will be much harder to achieve than on other cameras.
I can better that as I picked up my FS7 late last year and it came complete with batteries, cards, charger, LCD, loup, versatile Shape side handle AND the stunning 18-110mm G Master servo zoom for just $2K total! That's about half the price of the lens alone. The FS7 is still a stunning camera in 2023 and compliments my FS5 nicely, especially as I now have an 18-110mm for each.

Unfortunately, neither the FS7 nor the BGH-1 has phase-detect autofocus, and sometimes you just want a quick shot without having to use manual focus.
I like your channel’s philosophy. It always baffles me the 4000$ cameras prices for indie filmmakers. For me the only indie camera for real indie creators is under 2000 dollars/euros. It’s basically a monthly earning. Everything more than that is for people with a budget. And they are not really part of the true indie filmmakers (ones that have shot movies for under 7000 dollars). Other than that is buying for the worth of buying, because image resolution is a cheap carrot on the end of the stick. I would much prefer see a full movie shot on a iPhone than reel clips shot on Reds and even on a Canon C70. I think the indie filmmakers are missing the point. For me I could never go higher than a C100 and a 1DC. (Even BMPCC 6k pro is too expensive. A Sony FS5 is a better package).
Don’t get carried away with Netflix Approved. It is merely a list their original productions can shoot on. It doesn’t mean anything in the real world of filmmaking. Focus on your skills and story than gear.
