Here is a German joke for you: Germans are so organized that they have organized and cataloged all jokes! So, one day, a couple of friends went to the Gasthaus for some food and beer and there were some people telling jokes. One guy stood up and said: 122! and everybody laughed! Then another guy said 99! And everybody laughed. Then another guy said 72! and only a few people laughed... Then this guy's friend asked: Why did almost nobody laugh? His friend responded: This guy does not know how to tell jokes!
You are the perfect example how sense of humour is most important thing in life. Great work and i look forward to see how You both have fun with these repairs.
Your humour is becoming more like a Brit by the episode aided by your exceptional english. You make my Sunday mornings, I too missed you last week. Keep up the good work, later I will go out in my Pub crawler Jag V8 and feed it a Toyota.
This is getting better than " The Osbourne's" Where else can you see husband and wife argue about the colour of the inner wheel wells. Love it . Already looking forward to the next video
Many thanks Vera and Christian for another brilliant video. I am very much looking foward to the continuation. Thank you for sharing your engineering knowledge and skills with us.
next time i buy a landrover i just pop over to germany from sunny scotland and get it from christian coz it will be better than when it came out the factory
I hope you guys understand the joy and knowledge you both bring to us Landrover masochists, I love your humour and energy. I hugely respect Christian´s engineering skills, and Vera, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You both make me smile, a lot, when I watch your videos, and you inspire me to do more on my own D4 and RRS tdv8. Planning on installing a two post lift of my own either this year or next, I have a farm in Sweden so have room inside one of the barns, also with my own tyre machines.
Helping a poorly older family member in hospital and a little fix of LR Time to get a little normality and ironic humor lifts my spirits in hard times. Thank you guys ❤
Change the complete clutch. The new one is probably not as good as the old but you have nearly 300kkm on it. Sooner or later it would fail. If you were closer to me I could have sand blasted the whole chasis for you and Christian woud have saved his hands for some nicer jobs. We did some jeeps in the past. Great video again! You always make me smile watching it.
Good evening Vera & Christian 😊 Missed you both last but I hope everything was ok 👍🏻 I just love your humour and how protective Vera is about her precious LR 🤩 Have a great week and looking forward to next week’s exciting episode 😊 xx
Christian and Vera, I have to say what a great video series this is. I've been binge watching your videos from the beginning and now I want a Discovery 3. Looking forward to the next installment. Great humour from both of you too!. Thanks.
You guys are the best. We love LR3 but had to settle for an LR 2. You actually talked us out of getting one. I wish I had the time and skill to do what you do. I also have a blond wife and she has lots of yellow jackets.
Even if I do not have a land rover, but I am passionate about LR and cars... You are the best you tube channel. Knowledge, methods and humor in an excellent mix.
And as the English are largely a bunch of Germans you can see where that saying came from! 😬 Judging by Christian's sense of humour he clearly comes from a long line of English people!
Great video - thanks. Missed you last week, but I guess you were getting a little ahead of yourselves so you can post the rest week by week. 👍 Thanks you very much for these videos, I'm really enjoying them.
I would always replace the DMF and Clutch with that level of rebuild. Love your channel, wish I had someone like you in France to refresh my RR Sport (LR3)
Great job, that chassis with the hanging pieces could be put in the Tate gallery it was a work of art. I wanted to build a frame for my body off job but my drive is gravel so I didn't bother. I did do all the corrosion prep and paint though just as you did 👍 really looking forward to seeing the internals and you can finally fix that broken glow plug😮it's going to be great when completed
Love how every bit of rust had Vera stressed out. Its a bit like my wife - every squeak from my Disco 3 has her looking scared. Currently 388k km on my 2006. Come to africa and lets do a road trip - Cape Town to Walvis Bay across to Nata and back down.
Respect to you two. Got this video late thanks to the UA-cam algorithm... but well worth watching. Did you think about changing the dual mass flywheel to a single unit? Comments from my brother, Mazda service manager. I've only driven autos, the 6 speed ZF was a peach. Red oxide is a traditional steel primer, but I've used Galvafroid which I've found to be exceptional. Other than that this is a well trodden path for you both and I wish you were based nearer to me!! Loved the video, wit, humour and charm, OMG!
Good idea to renovate the chassis, my low mileage LR3 was like brand new condition everywhere else except for the chassis, the rust Ingres was heart stopping - for an all terrain vehicle - the manufacturer could have put better rust protection - or maybe that was the design
Thanks for the latest update, you both are an inspiration to the LR religion, and this makes me want to fully restore our D1's. Time to clear out the garage
Thank you for the detail provided at the end of the clutch. I have read about dual-mass clutches, but that's about it. The next video is going to be great from what you showed us. I am looking forward to that more so than the first two LR3 engine out videos in this series!
Wow, … I have nothing but respect for the both of you for the amazing hard work you both do and it all seems so easy when you do it! Love the humor too! Great video again 👍😀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When the clutch slave cylinder died on the Jag I was on a tight budget so I waited until the trans was out to test the DMF - it was within manufacturer specs for free travel rotation and rock so left it in. A new one was about AUD800!! You always replace the clutch kit, because it feels cool to change gear with a new one!
Loving this new project, and still envious of your work space. I need to replace my vacuum pump and wish I had a hoist to do the body split. The access it gives you is amazing.
Discovery 3 is probably one of the best Land Rovers ever. It would be great if there were vehicle restorers offering this level of restoration within a known, reasonable price range. I contacted a vehicle restorer about restoring my Iltis. The price was insane. Given these vehicles are newer and only mild refurbishment required, how many hours, approximately, do you think it would take to do this? I wonder if €10k + parts would be a reasonable ball park?
Christian, just so you know, that the "red friction dust" as you described it, is known by us in Toyotaland as "fret corrosion" caused by high interface pressure of abutting unlubricated metal parts. Lovely watching you work as always. Hello from Australia 🦘.(Toyotaland).
Another fab video. I am really looking forward to seeing what the hidden parts of my D3 looks like. It will help greatly when I do repairs and maintenance with body and chassis attached. Looking for award to you tackling the glow plunge challenge. Drilling out will be so much easier with engine out! I would love to see how much torque you can apply before they snap. Keep up the great work - on the D3 and on the videos which I reckon are amongst the best quality on UA-cam.
I don’t have a Land Rover or a Toyota but love your videos, whoever said that German people don’t have a sense of humour need to watch your content, fantastic 😂
What fun! I'm looking forward to the engine rebuild too, that should be hilarious. Maybe there will be an extended version with more detail and some swearing, as I don't know how anyone can work on cars without swearing. Keep up the good work, and thank you for the entertainment and the inspiration.
Totally charming channel! A great surprise. Very informative and interesting. My second "higher" interpretation is that the channel is subtle sarcasm, as the LR is such a complex and unreliable vehicle.
Great video, thanks for sharing. ARB is fairly popular here in Australia a lot of aftermarket upgrades are available for most 4x4s . Plenty of space to test out the locker as well .
Sympathies to your friends. A great and funny video, brilliant you two! The painted parts dangling from the chassis ought to be in an art museum, much better than the unmade bed 😂. Looking forward to next week, take care 🇬🇧
Another excellent video by my two favourite youtubers! I have learned so much about Discovery's, and I have already done many maintenance jobs on my lr4
Great work guys 👍 Frames can corrode from the inside too. While you have such good access, you can jet wash the inside of the frame with a drain cleaner hose and then spray in cavity wax after it has dried.
ITS LR TIME😊😊great to see you's back doing what you do best.great video.the discovery will be new again.great admiration for you both for not putting up a video last week as a mark of respect.looking forward to the upcoming videos.keep up the good work😊😊😊 6:12
This might be the German definition of car maintenance bit it sure as hell is not the British definition. The key difference here is mechanical competence, engineering ability and a good chief of staff to keep everything in order. Thank you both for this week's self explanatory servicing tips 😂🙏
So glad you’ve started this very project! Lots to learn ….. the shopping list will be huge Presume you filmed this before last weeks tragedy. I hope you guys are doing alright
Glad your back .great work as always ,you both make it look so easy ! Cheers from down under ,no rust here just red dirt ! Glad Vera won on chassis color 😂😂
Missed you guys! Nice to see you back. There’s an ‘exploded’ Mercedes F1 car hanging up in the Mercedes world Museum at Brooklands that puts me in mind of your arty hanging painted parts installation! Nice work, very well.
Christian is singlehandedly disproving the german humor myths
and Vera as well 😊
Here is a German joke for you: Germans are so organized that they have organized and cataloged all jokes! So, one day, a couple of friends went to the Gasthaus for some food and beer and there were some people telling jokes. One guy stood up and said: 122! and everybody laughed! Then another guy said 99! Right
"Goes down by gravity, we are not on the Moon" You guys are the best, thanks
That made me chuckle as well!!!
I’m really enjoying this restoration on this old Land Rover. Please note I do not have a LandRover 😂
Love cristians humor always come here to learn something new !
You are the perfect example how sense of humour is most important thing in life.
Great work and i look forward to see how You both have fun with these repairs.
Pleased you are back, you were missed last week. Looking forward to this ongoing restoration
I suppose the Germans have to have a holiday lol
Your humour is becoming more like a Brit by the episode aided by your exceptional english. You make my Sunday mornings, I too missed you last week. Keep up the good work, later I will go out in my Pub crawler Jag V8 and feed it a Toyota.
This is getting better than " The Osbourne's" Where else can you see husband and wife argue about the colour of the inner wheel wells. Love it . Already looking forward to the next video
Sensational effort it will be just like a new one. Loved the shot with the chassis and hanging painted bits. "LR sculpture" should be in a gallery.
probably better than new! excellent work Christian & Vera. Ps please buy a Grenadier soon ❤
Many thanks Vera and Christian for another brilliant video. I am very much looking foward to the continuation. Thank you for sharing your engineering knowledge and skills with us.
All the pieces hanging from the frame at 22:30 looks like an artistic windchime or something from a Honda advert. Great work as always.
next time i buy a landrover i just pop over to germany from sunny scotland and get it from christian coz it will be better than when it came out the factory

I love you guys, when I hear Vera say : I hope you enjoy the video ❤❤❤ it's so cute ❤❤❤
Pretty amazing 4 1/2 hours for an amateur couple on their driveway foobar to the desktop mechanics keep up good work, the pair of you make me smile..
This is a therapy for me...Sir ,take care with your back...😊
Ye two. ? Saving up my comment until the sun goes down and more. Too fine a day today. Absolutely fantastic. What a couple. !!
Change the complete clutch. The new one is probably not as good as the old but you have nearly 300kkm on it. Sooner or later it would fail.

Christian and Vera, I have to say what a great video series this is. I've been binge watching your videos from the beginning and now I want a Discovery 3. Looking forward to the next installment. Great humour from both of you too!. Thanks.
who says germans dont have a good sense of humour love you guys keep up the good work from a defender builder in the uk 🙂
You guys are the best.
We love LR3 but had to settle for an LR 2.
You actually talked us out of getting one. I wish I had the time and skill to do what you do. I also have a blond wife and she has lots of yellow jackets.
Now this is a normal sunday morning with the engine crew back on the job and the banter never stops just the best. Happy Trails
All those parts hanging like that are worthy of their own art display.
Loved your garden wind chimes hanging off the Lift 🤣 Excellent video as usual . My Sunday is complete
Even if I do not have a land rover, but I am passionate about LR and cars... You are the best you tube channel. Knowledge, methods and humor in an excellent mix.
We are good you are back, do not dare to take vacation again, OK!
We were not on vacation. Check out the community post we made last week.
Old English saying, “if your going to do a job, do it right”. Very thorough.
And as the English are largely a bunch of Germans you can see where that saying came from! 😬 Judging by Christian's sense of humour he clearly comes from a long line of English people!
OMG, I can't stand all the teasing for the future videos.... I am going to binge watch this whole series once it is done. ❤
Great video - thanks. Missed you last week, but I guess you were getting a little ahead of yourselves so you can post the rest week by week. 👍 Thanks you very much for these videos, I'm really enjoying them.
Check out our community post from last week.
Another great little episode. Lots done in it however. Looking forward to see how the engine internals have gone with 18 years of life.
I would always replace the DMF and Clutch with that level of rebuild. Love your channel, wish I had someone like you in France to refresh my RR Sport (LR3)
Agree, on anything but a nearly new vehicle its a false economy not to change the clutch, thrust bearing and DMF when you take the engine out.
I thought the same. Christian
We are being spoilt with Discovery maintenance videos. Keep them coming.
Hey Christian! There's gravity on the Moon too!
Can't wait till you get an L322 .
Greetings from sunny and RUST FREE Arizona.
What is a relaxed job: selling rust protection products in Arizona. Christian

So much love for this project!!!
Great Video...........I'm so happy your doing the full rebuild on Vera's LR 3. keep up the Great work.
So look forwards to your video’s. I have learnt so much about my RR Sport that will help me maintain better. Keep up your fantastic channel
That all hanging at the end was better than anything in Tate modern
Yes I think so too. 😅👍
Good idea to renovate the chassis, my low mileage LR3 was like brand new condition everywhere else except for the chassis, the rust Ingres was heart stopping - for an all terrain vehicle - the manufacturer could have put better rust protection - or maybe that was the design
Really missed you both last week but sending my condolences and thoughts to your friends after their tragic loss
Thanks for the latest update, you both are an inspiration to the LR religion, and this makes me want to fully restore our D1's.
Time to clear out the garage
THANKS! was thinking about buying Disco, but watched your channel and bought Toyota Land Cruiser
I dream of such a service made by you Christian.. It's a beautiful thing 👍

Big up to the Vera and Christian massive! I could watch these videos all day! Thank you for the brilliant work!
Another brilliant video and looking forward to the progression of the restoration. Thank you
Yay, I missed you last week :), always make my Sunday. Love your content
"It looks so amazing" - totally agree!
Your videos are far the most interesting on you tube ....keep up the good work and make sure Vera has plenty of food and a nice nap 😂
Another great presentation with humour , roll on next week , you both are great
Loving this new project, and still envious of your work space. I need to replace my vacuum pump and wish I had a hoist to do the body split. The access it gives you is amazing.
Great to see you back this week and looking forward to seeing this one progress over the coming weeks and months (?).
Vera nearly had her fingers tattooed with the flywheel 🤞🏻🙈 …. Definitely a full (new) Clutch 👍🏻another great video 👌🏻😎
Really enjoying and a bit jealous of your workshop and vehicle left. Continue the great work 💪
Thanks for the excellent video. Missed you last week, my Sunday evening just wasn't the same here in AU.
Very,very enjoyable.Thanks.

I'd like to see what condition your outer sills are in under the plastic. Very common rust area and much easier to replace body off.
Very interesting video thank you.
At this mileage dual mass flywheel and clutch change makes sense, imagine the work to change it down the line. It’s apart change it.
Another brilliant video!
I continue to learn so much from you . Fantastic work once again!
Wow! I'm amazed and admiring... there is no way I would ever do this myself, and I only have the greatest respect for those who can/do.
Great video, thanks for sharing. ARB is fairly popular here in Australia a lot of aftermarket upgrades are available for most 4x4s . Plenty of space to test out the locker as well .

Missed your vlog last week😢. Great to see your back. 👍
Bravo… Greetings from South Africa
Another great informative and entertaining video, I always look forward to Sundays with Christian and Vera

Presume you filmed this before last weeks tragedy. I hope you guys are doing alright
Yes, this footage was 4 weeks old. We are assembling the frame now. Christian
Just two words: "absolutely brilliant."
All the time Christian invests in Vera's D3 just shows how much he loves her. Or it could just be LR love - answers on a postcard. ;-)
Glad your back .great work as always ,you both make it look so easy ! Cheers from down under ,no rust here just red dirt ! Glad Vera won on chassis color 😂😂
NICE JOB !
You guys crack me up, love the hard work!
My word you have been bust! Good job guys
Wish that spec was offered here in the states, a diesel Discovery with a manual sounds amazing!!
Missed you guys! Nice to see you back. There’s an ‘exploded’ Mercedes F1 car hanging up in the Mercedes world Museum at Brooklands that puts me in mind of your arty hanging painted parts installation! Nice work, very well.
Yes this is going to be a great series 👍
Thank you.
