wanted to pin a comment since this video was filmed very long ago and I obvi do NOT support buying from Starbucks 🍉 also - in the video I did rate their matcha the way I did mostly as a joke😭 because it is SOO sweet. Like 50g of sugar ofc it will taste good because it's basically melted icecream💀... I wouldn't even say Starbucks matcha is comparable to real matcha because it's just powdered sugar lol (that's why it tastes like rootbeer instead of matcha😅) - I know a lot you guys love Starbucks matcha but trust me you can make a better one at home!!! I want to be super clear that pure ceremonial matcha will always be my favorite & is ALWAYS what I order/make for myself at home! Nothing will ever beat ceremonial matcha from Japan ♥️ LOTS OF LOVE!!!!!! And so excited for the matcha biz 🍵
I loved seeing this video compared to the videos you make now about matcha, it’s so cool to see how your pallet and requirements for a good matcha have changed and grown and we’re so so excited about Nami Matcha!! 🌸🌱
Setsugekka I think is actually a place that gives people the experience of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. It’s aimed to bring harmony and inner peace to the guests by allowing them to come in and take a break from the hustling world outside, which is why it’s very quiet. It allows them to focus on the simple and special moment of being served tea :) Ashley for the best matcha, I recommend you take a trip to Japan HAHA. Every matcha I’ve had there is delicious, even if they’re unsweetened. and japan’s Starbucks matcha is very good too :)
It is good matchaaa, I’ve worked there and the powder is real pure, ceremonial I’d say, the sweetener is not added, next time you go and have it either with water or almond milk, no classic and you’ll see
omg you and kelly are like the "olive theory", where one person in a relationship hates olives and the other loves them and supposedly it means that you guys are perfect for each other. in this instance its matcha
ive been taking traditional japanese tea ceremony classes for the past 8 years and since you love matcha as much as i do (to the point that you appreciate just straight matcha with water as it is traditionally made) if you ever visit japan, you should definitely book an experience at a one on one or private guest tea house in a japanese garden :) we spend years and years training to do demos and to become a MASTER takes decades of practice! there's so many intricate details the go into it from the foot steps, to how you sit, to hand placement, what you say, EVERYTHING
8:25 Hi Ashley! The Lê Phin coffee place, is a Vietnamese coffee so the word “phin” is pronounced “pheen” sounds like “seen” but with the ‘ph-‘ in Vietnamese. Hehe! Hope that helped! (: love your videos! (Also, the phin is the silver, stainless steel that helps brew the Vietnamese coffee)
As a matcha lover i never clicked so fast on this video, i get matcha everyday and i enjoy it sm and i’m now excited to go to nyc and try different types of matcha. Thanks ashley.❤ 12:45
You should turn your passion into your own shop! If you love something and have a passion for it. You can never go wrong for chasing your dream . Go for it, Ashley!
Match is super delicious and sweeteners definitely help with the taste haha. If you’re looking to start a line, try and find more natural sweeteners and combine them with the process from the Japanese match house, I believe that will be the best combo. Most sugars we intake are not natural and have negative affects on our body, ex: fructose. So although matcha has positive affects for the body, adding unnatural sweeteners hinders the benefits if someone was drinking it plain. Super excited to see the progress of your brand!
@@heathermartin7459 Hi Heather! So basically any sugar that isn’t from it’s natural form or is added to your food is unnatural. You have probably been to Starbucks or any coffee shop and seen the tall bottles with nozzles in them. Those are pretty much all syrups and processed sugars. Starbucks vanilla syrup alone has 38% sugar content which is why it’s so dang good loll. Now, you don’t have to completely cut off sugars, but you have to be careful which and how much you consume. Look at the dietary label on the back of your products and anything ending with -ose, malt, sugar, or syrup are all unnatural, this unfortunately includes certain honeys. Though, honey is a better alternative to refined sugars, bee honey naturally produces healthy antioxidants. Plus you’re able to use less honey and achieve a higher sweetness because of the fructose content. Some examples of natural sugar are from unprocessed foods such as fruits or even lactose from skim milk. I would suggest buying pure and plain matcha and adding your own sweeteners or milks/ milk alternatives to it, so you know what is going into your drink. From personal experience, the less sugar I consumed the sweeter natural sugars were and unnatural sweeteners became too sweet for me to enjoy. Which, in turn, helped me be “healthier”. I still enjoy donuts and things, just in moderation :D. Hopes this helps and sorry for the long explanation!
@@jhaei no thank you! This was so helpful. I always buy almond milk and substitute with that and my skin has cleared a lot since not using dairy milk. I never through of using honey as a sweetener. I try to avoid the unnatural sweetners and syrups and I usually don’t know what to use to add.

I tried a matcha latte for the first time last year at Pret with the coconut milk and it was okay, like a 6/10. And then my friend bought me a matcha set for Christmas (from a TkMaxx store??) and OMG the vanilla matcha was BUSSIN! Since then, have been on the matcha hype waggon and then found your channel! I used to get the Starbucks matcha latte with soy milk no sweetener 🤩 I used to get ask for it shaken back then but I think they always shake it or make sure it’s well distributed now lol
Here's a drink suggestion from one of the coffee shops here in Canada. (Blenz) it's called a matchachillo and they blend some matcha with ice cream base and ice and it's literally like drinking matcha ice cream
my favourite video, i love coffee and matcha but this gives me more motivation to drink matcha this year 😂 good luck with your endeavour ashley!! so excited to see it!!

starbucks matcha is good because they add a lot of sugar... they use cheap chinese matcha powder and then they add a lot of sugar (coming from a chinese person myself)
The Starbucks Matcha is a 2/10. It’s loaded with sugar and not that great, in my opinion. I watched a video on UA-cam of a Starbucks worker showing how the drink is made and the Matcha powder is most likely the culinary kind (and not the ceremonial grade matcha). Plus, the Starbucks worker from that UA-cam video used a matcha mix (powder form) that already had sugar in it which was the same way I got my drink so I could not remove the sugar. Again, the sweetener added is wayyyy too much. 😂😬🍵
@@Linda-mv2jx Thanks but the Starbucks location that I got the Matcha drink from, about 4 years ago, did not use liquid sweetener. They used a powder Matcha mix that already had sugar in the mix itself so I could not remove the sugar.
