“SiX hOuRs Of MaHlEr” randomly gets stuck in my head and I laugh. It’s now become a regular phrase for rough times. Stuck at work late? Six hours of Mahler. Train got delayed? Six hours of Mahler
How an oboeist, or any wind instrument player, or any musician, or anyone, can go for 6 hours....... blows my mind. As an oboeist, I would be deceased after about 2.5 hours
I've heard that they are practicing Mahler's First Symphony, so the entire time probably isn't playing, unless it's very oboe heavy. Plus I think Spencer is a Julliard student, so he will probably be fine by tomorrow(based on how strong his embouchure muscles are).
I used to play the clarinet, so props to that girl for still being alive after 3 hours. My classes were like 1.5h and i got lightheaded really quickly and once even passed out( main reason i quit was not bc of that but bc i did not like it that much anymore)

Violin is considered to be the hardest instrument with over 20 different bow styles, it is difficult to create sound, difficult to make vibrato, and more. I also acknowledge that wind instruments like oboe are difficult to play as well, but I stand by the fact that violin is the most difficult instrument to play.
I play the oboe and recently started to try to learn the violin so I think rn it really depends but hey it's just my opinion I think they both are hard but since I master more the oboe I feel like the oboe is much easier just that you need to put a lot of air in 😅

All of mahler’s symphonies are masterpieces so if you like this one I highly highly highly highly recommend the others

I can play and enjoy playing for 4 hours upwards
aren't quite a few orchestras like this? like the orchestra summer camps, they usually play the working day, doing the whole orchestra and sectionals
As a trumpet, I’m right with ya man. My face hurts just thinking about it, especially the first trumpets
i can literally play for oboe for no more than an hour before my mouth forgets how to blow
