OCEANUS REVIEW: • CASIO Oceanus OCW-S100...
I saw the same model with a white dial. That is indeed rare. This model has been around for ten years. Incredible.
The lighter dial versions are super rare, but I don't understand why they don't produce more, it seems counterintuitive. That certainly is incredible!
As always, entertaining and informative. I really like the way this watch catches the light, giving it a unique character. It's on my list, albeit after one or two more G-Shocks! Thank you for the great content.
Kevin, thank you so much!! It's definitely a stunner, but as you say the G-SHOCK addiction is definitely difficult to shake off.
Not sure if it's only me but I would always pronounce it OH-SHE- R-NUS but anyway really enjoyed the video, I'm still saving for this watch, keep up the good work.
Hmmm lol, you are most likely right on the pronunciation! Thank you very much, I will certainly try to!
Well I've just learnt loads and fook-me I didn't know that the name was after a German polishing machine :)
My friend, am so pleased you're enjoying this piece, and like I said, it needs to be lived.
Fantastic review and I love your FREE sub offer!! :)))
Perfect 5 from me :)
Well I certainly wouldn't have discovered so much about the range had you not recommended and loaned the watch to me!! 👍 So thank you!
Certainly enjoying every minute of it! 🙂
Pleased you enjoyed it!! 👊
@@Watch-Crazy This is the thing, we need channel like us to really show and explain the details... and your excitement can't lie LML :-P
Just enjoy it as long as you need, as it doesn't need a battery :-P
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Lol sorry what excitement? 🙊
We certainly do!!
Cheers dude 👍😎👊
@@Watch-Crazy Thumbnail is good :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Thank you 👍
Regard thickness, similarly specked and priced, 'super titanium', Citizen JDM Attessas, are typically about 1mm thinner at around 9.5mm thick.
Interesting! I will have to check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
Amazing value for money in this watch. The combination of materials, functions, and price make it an ideal daily wear watch for me, especially for when I’m feeling something nicer than a G-Shock. Btw, it is very thin, but the Casio Oceanus Manta series is substantially thinner with more functions, but at double the price.
Absolutely!! You're right, the Manta definitely does, I love the white dial version with the light blue hands and markers. It's a shame they're not offered to the UK and other markets...
Great review !
Cheers dude 😎
Great video my friend. That’s a great watch. Keep Rocking those Watches brother🤘🏻
Why thank you Rock The Watch!! That's very kind of you Sir! 👊
Best watch out in my opinion have worn it everyday for 2 years have went snorkeling with it on done work around the 🏠 just double tough.
I have to agree it's certainly one of the best by far. It's the perfect all-rounder. Thank you for your comments! Nic
Good story teller! Nice video. Seems No body covers the maintenance requirements on Oceanus yet. Or it just doesn’t need it.
Why thank you!! Hmmm very good point/question! The short answer is, I don't know for sure. However when I did my research I didn't come across anyone who had an issue with any of the movements and I haven't seen any being sold online as 'Spares Only"... But that's not to say there hasn't been. Might be worth checking the Japanese forums.
Amazing review with one glaring complication omission. The super easy time zone change!
Why thank you Sir! You're absolutely right, well spotted! I was obviously too mesmerised by its beauty that I simply forgot. Lol
@@Watch-Crazy I got mine with blue dial and orange accents on the 2nd hand and UTC time zone marker. It's a stunner!!
@@ahtisnow9997 It's not one of the marble chronographs? I can't think of any others I've seen in that colour combination, sounds awesome!
ua-cam.com/video/9BhBpZEuHmc/v-deo.html here's a poorly done video of the watch, the last few seconds capture that orange the best!
@@ahtisnow9997 Dude I'm honoured! Thank you so much for your incredible efforts to show me. What a beautiful combination, love that blue dial and those touches of orange 🍊 😮😍
Thanks for free subscription. I availed it in time!
Loooooool Thank you Zeeshan! And my apologies for the delayed reply, had I of not checked my comments in the UA-cam studio I would never have been aware of your kind and funny comments! Thanks again!! Nic
Great Review and great watch! I'm subbed 👌✨
Why thank you! :) 👊 I've subbed you to...!
My apologies! I meant to say that you can pick up 40 of these watches for the price of the quartz F P Journe Elegante, not the 400 as mentioned LOL 🤦♂️
I for sure took that opportunity of free subscription
Congratulations! 🥳 Lol
Thank you ever so much for your support! 👊
Granted, you cannot get any better than Zaratsu polishing but there are other companies (besides Grand Seiko) such as Citizen who offer this level of mirror finish on their Chronomaster line.
Yep you're absolutely right! The Citizen 0200 caliber is a great example.
This watch with a field watch type face ( fully numbered, and most lumed) : I simply can not imagine why it would not become a longtime sell (cult) hit.
( A good(!) alarms option and You'd have the luxury version :-)
( I mean this is a reasonable size (!), resistant, light, with a black version. Easy readable fieldwatches are either to big or/and otherwise plaged with inconsistancies..
(Well actually I would still add something: It beats me why not every watch shows (clearly) the day of the week. Perhaps because all clients do not like english. But then a scale type would do the universal trick)
Mate that's a really cool idea! It would be a great success! 👍
I think I prefer the American pronunciation of O shee ann us. LOL
O shee ann us it is! 🤣😂
Is the black version (watch and its band) just as hardened titan then the silver looking titanium?
Thanks!
To my knowledge they are the same grade of titanium, the difference is in the DLC coating which gives the surface of the titanium it's colour as well as additional scratch resistance.
@@Watch-Crazy Thank You !
( I guess scratches (nevertheless) will eventually show more (and show the non-tinted titanium from underneeth. But thank You, good 'news'!
@@AR-vf7vg Scratches add character and tell a story, it's just the first few scratches that initially hurt.
No problem at all. Thank you!
I realy love my light blue one! (T200)
You don't see that many of the light blue ones about, beautiful colour almost ice blue to look at and makes reading the time and dial markings a lot easier. Very cool! 👍
"Oshaynus". As many ways to pronounce Oceanus as there are reviewers.
Lol very true! I'd say there are more reviewers than there are Oceanus watches.
scratch resistance on titanium ? titanium is softer then hardened steel also not tougher then hardened steel mate. for the rest this watch is amazing!
Lol it's a tricky one, there are several different grades of toughened titanium, grade 5 is five times tougher than the average 316l stainless steel used by the majority, and far tougher than 904l which also scratches easily. Grade 5 Titanium has about the same if not actually slightly better scratch resistance than most steel used in watches, apart from that if you scratch both exactly the same the steel will have a deeper scratch and in a few days the scratch will still be noticeable on the steel while the titanium oxidises back to the same colour and texture as before pretty much hiding the scratch. Also the Oceanus are coated in a carbon compound for extra strength. Adam Savage did an excellent video with Discovery Australia on his 3D printed titanium Iron Man body armour to see if it would have actually been bullet proof, there were virtually no marks on the titanium compared to other metals, well worth the watch: ua-cam.com/video/0rB6L6AsBT8/v-deo.html
@@Watch-Crazy Seems you did research after all ;] cheers man good points! keep up the good work.
@@dimi7055 Ah cheers dude! 👊
…but it has scratches all over it
It's been used properly on many a holiday, the scratches are on the DLC coating so that should go to show how much it's been knocked around. DLC is extremely tough and resistant to scratches,, inevitably not quite scratch resistant enough!
Leave it to the Japanese to write anus on the dial! Just like the Casio g-shock GD350 used to have Vibrator printed on the display :D
I don't mind it... Like you said, Oceanus stems from Greek mythology.. He was the first Titan which is a fitting name for a titanium watch (a material also named after the same Greek mythology).
Looooooooooool 🤣 very true indeed, very fitting!
Leave it to the Europeans to make a damn planet Uranus. Especially when they could have used Ouranos, a spelling closer to the original Greek, or Caelus-the Latin equivalent, just as all the other use the Roman equivalents of Greek deities. That said, Casio could have simply spelled their brand Oceanos…an equally accepted and more elegant spelling, with better typography and no bunghole at the end. I guess I'm just better informed than their marketing folks. 🤷🏼♂️
You have oddly familiar voice 🤔
Do let me know when you remember who's...! :)
@@Watch-Crazy oh Mr. Rangeman pls 😏
@@kubiaxk Lol if you listen carefully we do have different voices. You may even possibly see both of us in a future video together. :) Nic
@@Watch-Crazy you will use mirror? :D
@@kubiaxk Actually, if you take a look at Mr Rangeman's Sky Walk by TISSOT... video and my rubbish video, Should you buy that watch. You will see and hopefully hear any differences.
