I forgot to mention I did an unpaid internship in the accounting dept for the non profit my dad works for during the summer of before my sophomore year of college which i put on my resume as well.
I started my accounting job at a family owned business 6 years ago . At the time I didn’t think anything of it because I just enjoyed moving from working weekends to not working weekends lol as the years went by, I found out that I actually enjoyed what I do and I always had a mindset to learn more. 2021 is when I decided to go back to school because I couldn’t move up without the degree, they didn’t care what knowledge I had lol…I will be graduating with my associates in accounting early next year as I was too far into it to change to a bachelors but once I go into my last two classes, I’m enrolling in the bachelors program
I am currently in Accounting, I work as an Accounts Payable Specialist for a Real Estate company. I do not have a degree I sort of fell into the "career " I thought I wanted to focus on more Office Management but in Accounts Payable I see so much of my Administrative background useful. But I want the degree for a more stable future.
Hi JC, I fell into accounts payable as well and after ten years, I decided to go back to school. I gained my associates degree in accounting in May of 2022 and my income changed 15k and I will have my Bachelors by December 2023, so I'm hoping for another income increase. Please check out CTU = Colorado Technical University. I love CTU and I think you would as well.

Hi Nicole, I worked as an accountant for over 15 yearling Viet Nam, and now I am living in USA and working as an accountant in Tax office ( Vietnamese), I try to get the Association Accounting, I really love accounting but my weakness is English, my speaking is not good, I hope I will get an accountant job in future. We have kind of have the same story lol. I thought I wanted to do Tax Law or become a Mathematician. Anything science wasn't on my mind lol. I switched to Accounting but switched to Business Administration because of a difficult course. I was wanting to pursue a career in Data Analytics. Now I'm getting an MBA. I'm between becoming a CPA or a CFA. I'm currently in an Accounts Receivable position to gain experience in the Finance/Accounting field. Working at a Call Center and my cashier background helped me get that role.
Wow that’s so cool. BA undergrad and MBA is a recipe for success. Tbh I say get a CFA if you think it aligns better but cpa is always handy
@@corporatelynicole I even thought about doing both to have both of the licenses and to show versatility. I’m currently being trained on doing journal entries and month ends and I love it so far lol.It’s been 6 months since I’ve been in the role.

I have been a licensed hair stylist for 8 years and apart from being a hair stylist is managing your money, creating and sending invoices etc. Doing this made me become more interested in the accounting side of things

Thanks for watching hon. Honestly my motivation was student loan debt lol and also knowing I want a good paying job. I prayed a lot for God to see me through each day and there were lots of tears. I almost quit school twice but I had many people covering me in prayer so I had no choice but to keep pushing. You can do it 🥰

lol. Sonangol wasn’t going to hire me so it was the best option lol between shell and Bp.
@@corporatelynicole Ah I see. I have a friend from Angola who mentioned the history between Angola and Shell is not so great (and even worse for Nigeria). So I wasn't sure if that played into your reasoning for wanting to get involved in the oil industry and working with Shell. My friend refuses to buy gas from them to this day lol.
What is the 2+2 program ?
I have been thinking about going back to school and getting my masters in accounting but my undergrad is in nothing business related. Would like to hear your opinion on whether that’s a good idea or not and the approximate difficulty of me doing this.
I recommend weighing your options and maybe going for an MBA. An accounting masters is great if you plan to work in accounting/finance long term
