Thanks! We're able to grow tomatoes outside since we live on a hill and in using the layout of our house, and the wind protection around, it's become a beautiful micro climate. The tomatoes on the east side of our house are actually doing better than the ones in our greenhouse!

Glad to find your channel. Also Northern Alberta, former zone 3b now 4a. Doing more with gardening, but had to switch to raised beds, due to mobility changes. Cabbages do not work well for us, but trying new things like Qinoa and Amaranth this year. Clearly the Lord has blessed you! Hope no fires this spring. Blessings... 🙏

I am living here in Vancouver, B.C. & I have a small little garden, the weather is excellent to grow all kinds of vegetables, but, it's no match what so ever to your excellent produce in Northern Alberta, Good luck , most enjoyable video to watch. High thumb up.

Loved the walkthrough of your garden. I garden in Northern Ontario zone 2. I have a few recommendations you might want to try that have done well for me. First, for peas, Mr Big. Very productive and huge sweet peas. I’ve also managed to get a few watermelons, the earliest being Blacktail Mountain. If you like pole beans, I also recommend flat podded ones, like Merchant of Venice. Much more tender. As for tomatoes…that list is too long for this comment section. 😂 Hoping you’ll enjoy a great growing season this coming summer.

Next year I am starting my first in the ground garden. I have been growing in pots on the porch for several years but that has be tomatoes and peppers and a few herbs. Next year I will be planting near the barn where we used to have animals but the cows and horses have been gone for several years now so it is the most fertile place on the property. I live on the southwest part of Missouri in the ozarks. I have so enjoyed binging on your videos.

Your cabbage is my favorite part of your tour! So beautiful! Your soil looks so soft! We are in SW Missouri. I planted pickling cucumbers in late July/early August. Now producing lots of pickles to can! 🤤

    Loved the garden tour!
I lived for many years in the north Peace, just on the BC side of the border. Seldom did we ever get through August without a killing frost. No tomatoes, peppers, melons or corn without a greenhouse, but that didn't stop me from trying :-) I did grow garden huckleberries one year in my greenhouse. I wasn't very impressed with them so never tried growing them again. They tasted nothing like the blue huckleberries of the Rockies that I feasted on as a kid.
Thank you for sharing your farm life, faith and music :-)
    God bless!

What a fabulous garden! You really eat your way through all rhat beautiful produce? Seems like the kids have it so good there in your own paradise that nobody ever leaves home!
Here in Tasmania we have just had a very wet winter, and gardening season is about to begin. I have overwintered spring onions, and my first plantings of broad beans and peas are just starting to grow. Some tiny brassica seedlings have had a cold start, and the plums are beginning to blossom.

New subscriber. What a awesome family. Watched your cheese video. Love your big garden, with such a big family I can see where it comes in handy. Look forward to watching. We had a decent garden but here in South West Louisiana, USA , it is already in the high 90s, things just stop growing at that temperature. Looking to make that pea sheller.

Your garden is beautiful, I live in Okeechobee, FL. A lot of these things won't grow down here until about November to March, like Brassica's, it just gets way to hot. And the pest will eat your garden up in the summer months like April to October. I have good luck with Broccoli(early green, sun king), cauliflower (snowball, snow crown), and cabbage in winter. Kohlrabi, is one I would like to try growing here this winter, thanks for sharing, its nice to see how you folks live up there, may God bless ya.

It has been so wet where I am that my tomatoes are almost a month behind. Great garlic and carrots though, and the best onions I have ever grown! My new garden where the corn is licking in nutrient, and they only got to half their intended height, and are a sad pale yellow. to give you an idea of how wet it is here in Massachusetts, most farmers are struggling to get second cut in because we can only cut hay for about 1 day every 2 weeks. Second cutting should have been in by the beginning of August. We went on a 10 day vacation, and it rained at least 8 out of 10 days while we were gone.

Thank you! I've learned how to make butter and lard candles from your videos. Very eloquent and informative. Did y'all homeschool? And is your mom very smart? We just started homesteading in Missouri, have 100 acres, and over 50 animals. I want to homeschool, but find it hard to know how to teach. I'd love to have y'all make a video on how you learned all you know! As it takes years and lots of experience and perspective to know what you know!

That's wonderful to hear! Yes, we are home educated, and we'd encourage you to to the same for you children! It has been one of the greatest gifts our parents have given to us. And yes, we have some videos on our education journey in this playlist: ua-cam.com/video/hZM8Dl1vnR4/v-deo.html
You can watch this video about our Mom here :) ua-cam.com/video/wEZWyI5Rl4I/v-deo.html
Here are some words that have encouraged us and helped shape how we learn:
"Those who give themselves to learn the will and the way of God are receiving the highest education that it is possible for mortals to receive."
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
"Being smart doesn't mean you know a lot, it means you know how to learn."

When you fist showed the Garden Huckleberry I thought, " what on earth are they going to do with such a large pink nightshade (Solanum ptychanthum) plant, nothing can eat it, and it is not even a very pretty flower". Then you said it was a Garden Huckleberry, and I breathed a massive sigh of release.
I googled pink nightshade and found out that what I grew up calling pink nightshade is also called eastern black nightshade (Solanum ptychanthum). Learn something new everyday!

H from Manitoba (Swan River Valley), hopefully you are still checking old videos for comments; re: garden huckleberries/fresh they taste terrible, but are great for preserves...we also grow sunberry/a.ka. wonderberry, ground cherries, golden pearl berries and green berries (Australian native plant) all which are good fresh or in preserves(the sunberry can be invasive)...the goldenpearls and sunberry require careful picking/gingerly roll them off type pinch...anyhow these are all annual fruit bearing plants that have produced well for us; so we've kept growing them despite that they are harder to pick than, say Saskatoons or blueberries etc...the garden huckleberries are the easiest to pick but all those varieties should only be eaten/picked when completely ripe. Another thing we grow is Strawberry Spinach which produces these red mulberry type berries(tons of them) that have a very mild flavour and pair well in salads; also our poulty loves both the leaves and the berries and, it is self seeding...so you might want to give that a try if you are not already growing it. May the Lord continue to bless your family and keep you always in Yeshua!

That was so cool to see your huge garden!! I found your channel through the cheddar cheese video.. I actually thought the oldest daughter doing that video was the mom of the family!! oops - haha
We're in Sydney Australia and have just started spring.. we totally missed our opportunity to get an early crop in and have only just planted seeds (sunflowers for fun, golden zucchini, capsicum (peppers), lebanese and straight eight cucumbers, brandy wine and .. something faux tomato (the pink version of brandywine) and also San Mazarno - yummiest and best for sauces, nicer taste than Amish paste - erm.. also pumpkins.. we're so bad at these.. but we try to grow Napoleon (huge long) and jarrah pumpkins. also tromboli zucchini are fun). oh and purple runner beans.
Last year we were so excited to try growing the napoleon pumpkin variety as the photo I got from the seed seller showed the pumpkin was as long and side as his leg! but being in the "bush" (the original trees and plants that fill australia!) we also have a lot of wildlife and they nibbled our pumpkins! So we moved them to spikey native plants and managed to grow them in the spikey bushes. but no wins...
So this year we've made a house of fine bird wire and bamboo (growing like a weed in the "bush") and will try growing everything enclosed to avoid damage!
In sydney (and anywhere north of here near the coast - like within 2 hours of the coast before mountain ranges) you can grow all year round. Brassicas, peas, english spinach, silverbeet and lettuce are all things we've grown in winter. This year we just did sugar snap peas (eat the pod too) and broccoli as we've been a bit busy.
Thanks for the videos! you guys are so talented.
OH! HUGE thumbs down from my son who got upset when you put the cat in the pond and chased him in the house! tut tut :)
I'm off to find another one of your cheese videos. xx

Great video ladies. When do you put your row cover on your cabbage (family) plants? I am in northern Montana, and wow we can have flea beetles, yikes. How are you keeping the greenhouse cool enough in the middle and late summer?

I have enjoyed many of your videos and have referred them to family and friends. We are all avid cooks, gardeners animal lovers, etc. I have to say that I was disturbed by the shameful way you treated that beautiful cat in this video. Cats should NEVER be picked up by the tail, no matter what you think. It can cause serious neurological harm. Then to throw him/her what looks like 30 or 40 feet into a pond ?????? I guess 'do unto others as you would have them to unto you' doesn't include the treatment of animals and pets. I am unsubscribing and widely circulating this abuse. So far my community is similarly appalled. A beautiful garden means nothing compared to this reflection. If you are interested in how to treat animals, I suggest watching UA-cam of Helpful Vancouver Vet.
