Well, I'd love to do more but this was my first run-in with this kind of style. I'm more of a acoustic player myself, but that is probably also the reason why I like this style of playing so much: it actually is closer to an acoustic style than anything else. If you have suggestions, I'll be happy to look at them!
Ok, well If you can please do more, if you dont mind I automatically subbed when I seen you were the only one who’d posted a tutorial I’d been looking for weeks, but I did have trouble playing the d major 7 th chord could you explain all the chords you do next time 💪🏾Thanks
I thought this riff was going to be way harder to learn until I watched this video. Thanks for breaking down this complicated song in such a clear way!
Novice guitarist I appreciate this so much, I've been spending months trying to get the chords right I want to play this for someone so special. So thank you very much!
Awesome work Tim. It is so refreshing to hear students are looking into guitarists like Ashton. He has so much to offer and I am glad people are noticing!
thank you thank you. Definitely i feel the same as most people in these comments, we want more! Some artists u could maybe use : Toosii Juice Wrld Rod Wave Rylo Rodriguez YoungBoy Never Broke again - 3am JaydaYoungan - Nightmares There’s really no solid tutorials on these emotional / painful guitar loops. Thank you !
This lesson was super good and close to perfect, the only thing is I believe everything should be played 1 fret down from where you said on the video ( bar on 8th fret instead of 9th fret on the beginning part for example)
Thanks! Nice to hear you are enjoying this. Heart 4 Sale (also bij Rod Wave) is coming up this weekend, and if you have any suggestions then let me know!
Hello Tim, If you are still looking for song request/ideas to work on I was thinking about the song "isn't she lovely" by Tom Misch. Beautiful chord progression, lead and rhythm but pretty hard for me to transcribe will all the muting etc. Also no one has an actual good tutorial or tab about it. Thank you. :)
I'm writing down all the requests and go ever them from time to time! But with all that's going down, it's hard to schedule in any "optional" work. Stay safe!
I just had a quick look (and listen), and that one is a lot easier than 'Close Enough To Hurt". I tabbed it out and I'll include it in the next video session!
Thank you for the tutorial. its a great help ! from 4:27, my feeling is starting from 10th fret of the 3rd string istead of 9th fret sounds more jazzy. how do you think ?
Please credit the original guitarist who wrote this for Rod. His name is Ashton Sellars and he is fantastic, and I don't see him mentioned anywhere yet. He is deserving of that though. instagram.com/ashtonsellars/
I appreciate his Video, BUT, he is so bad at explaining, i mean i play guitar for 6 years however i have to try myself to get what he means, how should a beginner get this...really annoying how he explains things....
Hi Merzl. I'm sorry to hear you don't like the way the information is presented. A lot of effort goes into these videos and the last thing I aim for is to create frustration or annoyance with the viewers. Is it the tab that is confusing? Or the chord names I use? When explaining this face to face it would be easy to adapt, but when talking to a camera there is no feed- or pushback...
@@TimVanRoy you did a great Job, dont get me wrong, it's just a little too fast explained in my opinion, it would be also nice if you could explain the chords more, especially for beginners, cause they would have to look every single chord up, which gets annoying after some time Nevertheless nice job, i might have sound a little bit harsh, i didnt mean to :) Keep up your work, take this as positive feedback ;)
@@merzlbenzl7992 I understand now! This video is (indeed) not really aimed at beginners since there is a lot going on, both in terms of technique as well as theory. Maybe I have to do a more elaborate version in the future, more suited for beginners as well.
Im sorry but this lesson I found very hard to follow. There is way too much talking going in. Every moment of guitar playing is interrupted by you adding in something unhelpful. I can barely see you strumming once before interrupting with somethng. Sorry. No hate towards you.
No worries, I can take criticism when it is formulated this well! This was one of my very first tutorials (if I remember well the 3rd of 4th one) so I still had a long way to go. I'd like to think I've improved my craft over the last 3 years, although there is still room for improvement!
Thank you so Much you the ONLY person who’s done a tutorial on this, can you please do more

I'll check those out! The guitar has taken a turn towards acoustic guitar in the meantime, but if it is fun to do I might give it a go!
Dam you are too good, the way you fret the notes looks effortless! Thanks for the tutorial. Gotta keep practicing
we all owe your student a great debt lmaoo
I'll be sure to tell him ;-)

Good stuff
In this life I’ve been SCARRRED so I walk around wit my guard
What are some other songs like this that are good to learn?
Can you please do the actual guitar in Rod Wave - Breaks My Heart. No one has done and it and likely nobody will.

Tim Van Roy awww man, I’ve been searching for a tutorial for so long, thanks for replying tho
@@kjboii1298 I guess it’s time to pick up a guitar 😂
Is this standard tuning? My ears aren't that fine tuned yet
Yes, standard tuning all the way for this tutorial!
Play dark clouds by rod wave please
I'll check it out! Keep an eye on the channel, it might pop up ;-)
this is so hard
Can you do situations by don toliver ??
Can you do heart for sale by rod wave guitar
I just had a quick look (and listen), and that one is a lot easier than 'Close Enough To Hurt". I tabbed it out and I'll include it in the next video session!
can you link that?
what guitar is that?
A Gibson 335, a true classic!
Hey,bro can you do this with a bass guitar maybe with Just a d g e
That would be difficult as the chords are wider in voicing than what you would be able to play on a bass guitar. But feel free to prove me wrong ;-)

More than fair, an oversight on my part. I changed the description of the video to make sure his name is always visible when the video loads!
