After 40+ years in a few different churches, my wife of 47-years were led to an excellent Eastern Orthodox Catholic Cathedral very close to us. We finally are home. All of the pieces fell together. This is a timeless chant, very essential.
I am the daughter of a Greek Orthodox father and Roman Catholic mother. This is just beyond words! How can one not feel lamentation when hearing this? Thank you so much for posting this.
When i am down, depressed and lonely, I turn to lamentations and hymns. Thank you for posting. I am touched by the positive feedback. This is music for followers of Eastern Christianity and non-believers we love you, all of you. Love conquers all especially during this Covid-19 outbreak.
As a convert to Holy Orthodoxy I really appriciate chants in a language I understand. I do love them in Greek, Arabac, Aramaic, Slavic aswell, yet you only begin to really understand orthodoxy through understanding the holy prayers.
How long was your journey to holy Orthodoxy, my friend? I'm hoping to be accepted into the Church soon and was wondering how long about it would take. Not that a wait is a bad thing, just pure curiosity. Thank you and God bless, my friend.
Treeman1221 I will reply as to my journey though I’m not the person you asked. It took nearly 20 years altogether though I believe you speak of the time period as a catechumen. At my Antiochian Orthodox parish the process generally is over 9 months up to a year as one is received at a service just prior to the Great Feast of Pascha. Those who have spent significant time in study as was my situation, may be expedited however the burden falls to the priest to insure sufficient knowledge has been imparted. This insures the catechumen retains no heretical beliefs or views that may potentially bring others in the congregation to sin due to the errant views of the one received without sufficient examination. 20 AGO in August.... NOW. For my husband and I it was about 8 months. We did work to help re-settle Serbian refugees from Yugoslavia into our city, during their civil war . They were Orthodox Christians. All during that time we studied the Orthodox Church at the local Orthodox Christian Church in America. Some friends in a nearby city were my Godparents and my husband's God Father was a deacon in the church. Both my Godfather and my husband's are now priests in other cities.

Calin my brother, the language matters not so long as it reaches those who only understand English. Of course we always hold dear to the language we first learned it, but for many due to this posting, they will discover its beauty in their English language. Praise be to God!
