I'm super happy to be an Orthodox convert. Although Orthodoxy is new in the Philippines and our numbers are few I'm sure a time will come that God will bless us with more converts and our humble Churches and Temples will be as beautiful as that of Russias and Americas for the Glory of God.

Are you sure you want to be proud? The Scriptures condemn pride at every turn.

Orthodox Christian Church. Christianity as was during its early years. Glory to God the Father. Glory to God the Son. Glory to God the Holy Spirit. May the good Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ continue to guide us through these difficult times. Amen. ✝️ 🌴🐊🇵🇬

Amazing video. I'm Eastern Catholic so, very familiar as our liturgy has been reclaiming its roots. Chant and choral singing in Church Slavonic is sublime. Something gets lost when in English. Nice to see Orthodox representation from Washington DC and that one temple looks like the Mechanicsburg, PA parish to me. Thank you for posting.

I am a traditional Latin mass catholic. But deep respects for the Divine Liturgy. My bread and butter is the TLM. I can always squeeze a portion of Sunday after TLM to a DL

OUTSTANDING ! The music is over the top, and your "mixing" of the videos from the various churches of the word is outstanding, too ! Thank you, Reader Nicholas.

this is not a recording of the actual service in this church. it is the Sretensky Monastery Choir singing over a compendium of services in several churches in Russia and America

This is one of my favorite texts from the Divine Liturgy. I am working at memorizing it in Slavonic, along with several others. But if you try to translate the text, you will be greatly frustrated, as the grammar is almost inscrutable. It is poetry, and one must just take it as that.

The OCA has been doing the Divine Liturgy in English for over 50 years. Nothing about the text in English is inscrutable.

@@nicholashojnicki edited: that is not what is being read in the background (Psalm 50 is indeed read by the deacon while he censes). In this recording the main concelebrant is reading the priestly prayer: "no one who is bound with the desires and the pleasures of earthly flesh..." Then he recites three times the first part of the Cherubim Hymn and the deacon responds with the second part.

What is the deacon behind the holy table carrying on his shoulder, what is it called and what is its purpose? These strike me as being specific to the Russian usage. Often, they rest behind the holy table, one on each side. I've wondered this for some time now.
