Her Butterfly at Covent Garden was equally stunning. It was cascaded to about 100 venues - and the cinema I was in in Richmond erupted after this aria.
Metveilleuse. bUTterfly voix.
I was there as well. The substitute Pinkerton performed well and grigorian was excellent. Her final scene needed more vocal passion however and the conductor provided a place throughout that was often too slow especially in un bel di.
She is a fantastic artist who makes the experience of going to the opera compelling. I saw her debut at the Met and I was riveted by her performance. She is meta: she lives somewhere above both music and theatre. She reminds me of Teresa Stratas who also was a complete artist. May Asmik Grigorian thrive and perform for decades to come.
chiedu, no, pardon, please, but Asmik Grigorian is no real Turandot....and about Butterfly : I am not sure about her singing in this part.....it sounds great or excellent or whatever for the ears of the opera-lovers we have TODAY .....btw, Turandot Vienna Dec 23 was horrible. Horrible stage design. Mediocre Calaf... 2:28
@@KajiVocals thanks for Your offer to share .....but no need, thanks a lot. And in our days, sometimes difficult to discuss the developments in the field of the opera....
So loud. Her mouth hole is so far from the camera lens yet the fury of her super human notes are too loud to be absorbed properly. Imagine the camera was your unshielded ear drums… yeah
It just wobble, wobble, wobble. Screaming, screaming, screaming. Completely ingolata and out of tune. Just a completely defective mezzosoprano singing completely wrong repertoire. She got annihilated after just one or two Strauss/ Wagner/Verdi - annihilated in the lyric repertoar!!!!! It's a good thing that the microphones are on the stage, you can hear even more how small the voice is and how it doesn't carry anything. But that is already a well known fact. Hope you know, Asmik had to stop singing at least two or three times because she had problems with her voice, because she over-forces it - which can be heard, she is doing the same thing here. But a singer like that who screams and is technically very, very problematic is absolutely perfect for the Met. Well done, keep it up the "good work".
We haven’t had a soprano of this quality in a long time.
Amen to that!
I just saw the final performance at the Met today. I still cannot breathe. Grigorian and Tetelman were magnificent!!!!!!!
Wow, wish I could have seen it live at the Met
Was amazing
I was there too, and totally agree. Her performance was gut-wrenching and I felt drained by the end. I've never cried as much during an opera. Brava!
My gal and I,too, she melted
Her Butterfly at Covent Garden was equally stunning. It was cascaded to about 100 venues - and the cinema I was in in Richmond erupted after this aria.
Best performance of Madam Butterfly in the 21st century, the emotional embodiment and spontaneity is everything!
The congenial interpretation of the role of Cio-Cio-San. Stunningly heartfelt and beautiful.
She is amazing as always!
Je viens de la voir en HD live. Je n’ai pas les mots pour dire à quel point c’était beau.
Asmik Grigorian ❤❤❤❤
Captivating, absolutely beautiful!
So very lovely. Thank you for sharing this clip!
Saw the simulcast on May 11, beautiful voice and music, utterly moving. A splendid production by the Met. Thank you!!
Absolutely brilliant production. The acting was sublime.
Sublime Madama Butterfly. 💖💐

Grazie per Butterfly
Thanks for sharing!
Bravissima e perfetta! Pathos e voce meravigliosa!
I was at her debut and it was stunning. Group of teenage girls behind us - in tears after the end. Astonishing. Too bad Tetelman cancelled. .
I was there too. Lots of people crying at the end.
I was there as well. The substitute Pinkerton performed well and grigorian was excellent. Her final scene needed more vocal passion however and the conductor provided a place throughout that was often too slow especially in un bel di.
Bravaaaa! I love Asmik! Her and Lise Davidsen are my favs at the moment!

❤❤❤ what an experience @ the MET 4/30/24!!
Brava Asmik!
WOW!!! Stunning!!! Brava Asmik!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Asmik 👏🏼
Would love to see all that performance.
You can. In theaters on May 11, 2024. The Met in HD. [Correction: Not that exact performance, but hopefully one just as good. 😊 ]
This scene, is one of my fav emotional part,.... I cry everytime when I listen to this aria 😭
"l'aspetto" was heard in another dimension.
Every time I watch and listen to Madama Butterfly, especially this part, Glen Close switching on and off a lamp keeps popping up on my head.
men god, wat is dit mooi,
I saw her as Turandot in Vienna last December and she was extraordinary.

@@meisterwue I heard her in London in this and recorded the entire opera. I can share if you want. She sounded there better than here.

I did too! And honestly wonder if I'll ever hear a better opera performance. I was blown away. Made me an Asmik fan for life.

That is your op,Not a fact.
👏👏👏
Just chills! She is amazing.
Times have changed.
Callas set the benchmark for this aria
Angela Gheorghiu assumed the crown
Now Asmik Grigorian wears it
bravissima
Lack lustre conducting. No drama at all.
Un po marmoreo il personaggio
A kakoye abrazavaniye? Sredneye. Iskakan eda.
Die hat etwa so viel japanische Feinheit - in der Bewegung wie in der Stimme - wie ein alter Traktor.

I thought Marie Antoinette was guillotined. Why is "she" still talking?
She was great but this aria was too slow and her final scene was a bit bland. Great voice
I saw her live in this role in London. The voice carried very well. And this is a lyric soprano. Not anywhere close to a 'mezzo-soprano'.
I was there and pretty much everything you say is nonsense. Not a small voice at all. Were you at the perfoemance? I think not.
And definitely not a mezzo.
