I was there for your debut. A simply stunning performance, taking us deep into Butterlfly's emotional torment and her inevitable journey to despair. And you do go so deeply into the roles. I saw you in Salzburg as Suor Angelica. An unforgettable soul searing experience. You are a marvel.
Couldn't agree more. I too saw Asmik Grigorian in Salzburg in 2022 and it was indeed an unforgettable experience. I'm so envious that you're able to see and hear her live in the Met production of Butterfly. I will wait patiently for the Met On Demand streaming option...!
We just arrived home from the local art cinema here in Budapest, where we had an extraordinary experience viewing the livestreamed performance from Met. It was wonderful, and we are so happy that we could se you at least in this form, dear Asmik! Wish You all the best!
Thank you for the photo and talking with us after your phenomenal performance last Saturday!! So many years since my last crying at the opera but you are the guilty of breaking that.😅
I can't wait to see You in 2 weeks, on May, 11th in local cinema showing livestream of Your Metropolitan debut in Madama Butterfly! It will be aired worldwide. Who ever is interested should check it out which cinema has Met Opera! Asmik, your voice is really divine and your play as an actress unique and great! Thank you so much!

Just saw the performance in a Portland Oregon cinema. Completely over-powering. For my three teenage daughters and I we were seeing just our second opera ever, the first was Turandot at the Met last month. And although the between act interview spilled the beans that Butterfly was going to die at the end (were there no other first time viewers?!) we were still crying for the last 20 minutes. As I said a few years ago about classical music... opera, oh, NOW I get it!
Seeing Butterfly without knowing the ending is a rare occurrence indeed, but as you learned, it doesn't lessen the impact. A Puccini heroine who does NOT die is an exception to the rule. I'm happy for your getting such a powerful introduction to opera.
@@wotan10950seguramente hablas lo que no sabes. Asmik es adorable, para mi es la cantante-actriz de nuestros días. Nada ni nadie del siglo XX , ni del siglo XXI, puede comprarse con la gran María Callas. Saludos cordiales
Lovely performance, but please get rid of the puppet boy! It is scary-looking, would not want my grandaughter to see such a thing. Really, with the props available to the Met, how could they utilize such a device as this?
I was that child at age 6. I wonder why they switched to a puppet at all while it is very interesting and may seem more real from a great distance from the stage in the Metropolitan Opera theater.
@@ninastaiger1953 I've seen the two previous productions of Butterfly at the Met. Having a real child always worked well as far as I could see. It was usually a kid of one of the principals. When the current production was new in 2006, the idea of the puppet was quite controversial. I suppose it still takes a bit of getting used to.

Today, I watched the live broadcast of Madama Butterfly in Lisbon. Your performance was beautiful and very moving. Thank you.
Asmik... Thank you for the amazing performance during the live broadcast. It was really incredible. I will likely see the Wednesday encore as well.
Watched from the big island of Hawaii. Simply breathtaking!
Ich finde ihre Stimme und Darbietung wundervoll. Danke 😊
I've always wanted to say this: I was there! For that wonderful debut. My first opera, what special experience!
Still amazed after watching your performance yesterday thanks to the HD stream. Speachless, I trust Í´ll have the chance to see many more
Seeing it this Saturday!! (the puppeteer handling the head of the boy is a friend of mine) So excited!!
There's so little to say, it's so _Asmik_ I mean (singing & interpretation-wise). Therefore tons to enjoy & admire... "all" there is to me.
A ce soir ASMiK àToulon vous écouter en direct du met!!! Avec grande joie!!! Je vous AIME. Beaucoup De FRANCE. ❤❤❤
There truly is honesty in the expression that comes with great singing. Thank you for sharing. Abress.

What an artist! And it’s amazing how the puppeteers can achieve more emotion from the puppet than a cameo by a child could manage.
Quelle merveilleuse interprétation.
Quel timbre de voix!❤❤
az énekesnő tudja egyáltalán hogy Puccinit énekel?????

Too good for words. Now we have our own Callas updated.
You have got to be kidding?????
Asmik is far better than Callas. Her voice is more beautiful, and she doesn’t chew the scenery and grimace to pretend she’s acting.

The puppet is one of the miracles of this production. The puppeteers convey way more emotion than some silly child making a cameo appearance.
The puppet looks creepy. Please get rid of it! The Met at least should invest in a more likeable robot.
If they get rid of it, it may come back to wreak its revenge.
