Trust me. As an African-American who lives here in Japan, you have no idea how deep they have integrated black culture. It's incredible and don't believe what you see on American TV. It's nowhere near the truth. Japanese people love our culture and really embrace us as human beings.

When I hear soul food, I'm there to check it out. To many people think soul food is only lots of butter, seasoned salt and pepper. It's hard to find legit soul food now-a-days. My granny passed at 96yrs, uncle 94yrs, great gran at close to 90yrs, and great grandpa late 80yrs so I grew up with the original flavors of Louisiana and southern soul food.

japan has amazing public transportation as far as metro and buses. english is basically the second language there so all the stops and stations have english names under the japanese ones. even the stops are announced in japanese and english! google maps is your best friend for walking around. it's such a fun place to explore.

Yummy food brother Ranzo. I was eating breakfast & glad I did while watching this. It’s great to see other cultures in Japan having restaurants there and definitely a place I like to stop by once I go to Japan one day. I had shrimp & grits by a restaurant in my area & it was delicious! Def curious on the catfish. I really enjoyed the breaded catfish at the restaurant I ate. God bless this incredible restaurant & the couple very incredible & king people they are especially with the Big Mama special.

Thank you for sharing this! Soul Food Restaurant! Niiiiiiice ….
So proud of these restaurant owners and BEJ for his support! Grits “yaaaaaaaaas!” 👍🏽. The fact that they are a not vegan soul food restaurant and include people who embrace a plant-based diet, I appreciate it! I’m pescatarian and embrace a high-plant diet, and I’m proud of them. I’m not big on cheese in my grits, so I’d order without, but I looooove grits ☺️☺️ thx you for sharing this. Thumbs up to you and the owners. It’s becoming hard to find a soul food restaurant here in the USA (Northeast side). I love her mind re: “The Big Mama Special.” What a blessing for those who won’t take that for granted!

🤦🏾‍♀️ Am I the only one up at midnight now hungry after watching this vlog, Man 'O Man!! 😳 My southern aunts made the best grits with onion gravy & steak for breakfast. Up north It's butter, salt, and fresh cracked black pepper with scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage and toast. Shrimp & Grits on Sundays. 😋 🤗😋 As much of a ladies man as Mr. Thornton Prince III, was (he had 5 wives); history never recorded the name of the girlfriend who angrily made him that 1st meal of hot chicken. It's funny that he found an opportunity in what was meant as payback. 🤣💜🤣 😌😏 80 years later and the original Prince's Hot Chicken restaurants are still in the family too.

Grits...a Southern USA food. And not even all of the south. When I moved to Arkansas the grits went up in price and had one flavor!...Northwest Arkansas is trying to tap into midwest culture...it's technically considered the last area of the south before going into the midwest. Yep. But in California the price and flavor variety of grits were the same as Georgia lol 😆 But you can find everyone's cultural food in Cali lol
