The Abarth 124 Spider - Drive and Review!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 тра 2018
- The Abarth 124 Spider is a hot little two seater sports car that is rare, unique and adds Italian flair to an already sorted sports car design, the Mazda Miata/MX5.
Abarth boost the 1.4 litre powerplant with an awesome little Garrett turbocharger that gives a great little chassis the power punch that is well and truly needed.
Thank you to Abarth UK for providing the car and Devoted Media for help on the day with filmmaking and photography!

HEY! Ello lads (+ ladies lol) hope everyone has had a great couple weeks! I've got a stack of videos filmed so they're in the process of being released as we speak. See you soon
Smashed it - as usual!
Legend, cheers boss
*cracking video mate. Glad you enjoyed the car! Great fun to drive!*
Thank you my brother!
great video mate! Awesome car, very jealous! haha
The sound gives me life
what an unexpected upload! Keep up with the uploads man :D Wanna see more of that Cupra too ;)
Cupra review very soon allegedly
Paynos sick man! Can’t wait :D
I want one of these so badly
Literally my dream car, great video 👍
Great video, seems like you had a lot of fun
What about a video on eco driving/hypermiling in the tutorial format? Would help a lot of people, mostly me and my heavy right foot
Ayyyyy
4:55 I felt the strength it took to push down the soft top, through the video LMAO
Great video Paynos. Were most of the shots filmed on a Panasonic GH5?
Thanks lad. Yeah! All on the GH5
Great cars, but for the price of one of these you can buy a mk1 and heavily modify it and have so much more fun and more power😉👌🏻 Not biased at all 😂
Oh yeah for sure, I mean you could probably get one making about 600bhp for that money ;)
Paynos Yeah for sure easy👌🏻
Jordan Too True! All though mine is rust free- a rather rare exeption 😉😉
I had an S-Ltd customised NA for 8 years. Great little cars, but they are not in the same league as a new 124 Spider. Everything about it is in a different league, especially the interior.
sounds pretty good for a 4 pot, glad it hasnt fallen into the vag trap ‘just make it do pops’
CATALYTIC AUTOSPORT I agree, like the Jag F Type V8 is spoiled by the continuous bangs and pops, I want to hear it growl, not fart.
Michael _Howto i quite like the f-type. The pops and crackles do have a tone to them. VAG 4 pots just sound like a ruler along a staircase
CATALYTIC AUTOSPORT do like a good pop though 😤😤😤
Having worked for both Mazda and Fiat, I would still go for the Mazda.
MX5 does it better in the looks department for me, especially the RF 👌🏼 Still the 124 is a fantastic car and would love to experience one!
Billy RS MX5 is a little classic can't deny it. Not that you'd be biased 😉
Paynos Not at all 😁
Billy RS honda s2000, sittt downnnn
He teaches well
Can you review and Audi A1?? :)
I think for the money I'd prefer to get a BBR'd MX5
JayEmm on Cars love to see a review of that. I’m thinking about going N/A with the ND and getting the super 200 package instead of turboing it. Previously had it remapped and changed the springs, was surprised how much better it felt just from that.
You should invest in a drone for better camera shots, you can also set them to follow u as u drive
As if they trusted you with that 😂 saucy thing though 👌
Love the Abarth 124, however £30,000 seems too steep. I’d definitely buy an M240i over this.
I dont even watch for the cars anymore, Its all abou tbig daddy paynos
This. He could drive a fucking 2004 micra and I wouldn't care.
No for America. We do get Abarth but no red lip or mirror caps, no Monza exhaust, Abarths are very bland and boring here. At least we get the heritage stripe as an option but they are *very* rare to find.
Is the car yours?
Nah man, Abarth lent it to me for the week!
Paynos what the hell that's awesome! Do you still have the ibiza?
The interior is literally Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V from a new Mazda3, just throw in sporty seats and Audi air vents lol
Deliquescator i do believe they were from the same factory
Abarth has shot themselve in the foot, Because of their steep price, this car is now discontinued due to low sales.
Seems like a great car but I could never justify new car money, all the insane and faster cars you could get for 30k
You do know that the abarth 124 is basically an mx5 right?? It has the same engine, suspension, brakes, interior etc
Same engine yeah? You sure?
First
Less your face, and more car please.
Just... No. The MX5 is better car because it's not fiat/chrysler (who are literally known for pretty bad cars overall) and NA > FI because the linear torque curve will feel far better than that of a Turbo (imo). Plus, NA power is more consistent, leading to better lap times. It's basically an ND missing the point of being an ND.
BAD Ben You do realize the Fiat 124 Spider is made in Hiroshima, Japan, literally in the same factory as the ND Miata lmao. And I love the feel of turbo lag, again that's just preference. I always feel like I'm in Star Trek, the engine whines up and you go warp speed. That being said I'll probably still get the Miata, the right 124 Spider is rare to find in the US.
The engine is still Fiat/chrysler. That's mainly what I was referring to when fiat/chrysler is known to make pretty bad cars overall. Hey! if you like turbo lag, more power to yah, but if you want faster lap times, an NA car will beat out an FI car simply because it's far more consistent (assuming all other variable are kept equal). Also, half the fun for a miata (at least for me) is that amazing engine feel at any RPM (linear torque curve), so that's why I feel the ND is a better car than the 124 Abarth. Thanks for the reply! I was not aware the cars are built in the same factory.
@@bad001bd I know this is an old comment, but I had to inform you that if you wanted to achieve better lap times, this was better than the 160HP Miata by a mile, it was much quicker and less numb in corners, everyone said the same about it.
Even the ND2 with the 184HP power output is neck and neck with the Abarth.
Regarding the reliability, the MultiAir engine is one of the most reliable engines you can find since it's based on the F.I.R.E and it's built in italy, or at least it was, no problem in that regard. Furthermore, it can easily be tuned and modified to achieve insane amounts of power thanks to the forged internals and it can be mapped to have an almost NA-like torque curve, really a great engine, economical too.
The choice literally comes down to looks.
