I have 2021 M550, my previous car was a 2018 E63s, not exactly the same as a M5 but similar enough. The reason I changed is everyday usability, like the M5 the E63s is really not comfotable unless driven on perfect roads. Definitely more dynamic in every respect but I was rarely ever in a position to exploit it and I did not track it, so I rarely took advantage of what it was built to do well and unfortunatley experienced the downside ride quality 100% of the time. I was glad to see your review and based on my experience it is pretty much dead on. Every M550 review has the M5 community up in arms, I find it really funny, the cars were never meant to serve the same purpose, one is a track focused car, one is not, if you do not plan to track your car then you are buying the M5 (or E63s in my case) for the same use case the M550 serves and it just happens to serve it 90% as well in performance and 125% in comfort and is 40k cheaper.
I mostly agree but the new E63 has toned down the suspension harshness, as has the LCI M5 Competition. I drove a base (non-Competition) 2020 M5 and it was very compliant in Comfort, on bad roads. I would get a used base M5 over a new M550 at the $85k price point, just for the incredible engine and chassis, although I agree you can very rarely use it.
Literally looks like we are all just mounted inside to the dash riding along with you as you both review the car. I noticed as soon as the video started that there was something different about it. This car sure feels small for it's size at speed, but it's a behemoth in narrow spaces. 2. Do not skimp on the automatic parking. It doesn't work all the time, but when it does, it parks inch perfect. The trick here is to press the parking assistant button before you approach a spot, so the cameras can scan the spot as you drive by and then it offers to park itself. When it fails, it's mostly because the spot is a little too short. I have embarrassed myself trying to park in spots that weren't picked up by auto parking 3. 12mpg city / 24mpg highway 4. The phone compartment next to cup holders is too small for anything larger than iphone 13. No pro max, no large androids. 5. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is wireless only. It will almost always connects to the wrong phone. 6. Get a radar detector if it's legal where you live. The car is too comfortable to realize how fast you're going. 7. Point of clarity (I've had my 22 550 since December).. the exhaust valves are not on by default for all modes, so comfort will not burble and pop unless you go into the infotainment and change it.. you can also reliably make it crackle and pop in sport plus only.. individual and base sport do not have the same pop and bangs.. I opted for not getting the package that included the four wheel steering because it made the back end squirrelly and it makes the ride super comfy and soft but retains the incredible engine and handling without the stiffness.. love this car..
I enjoyed my 2018 M550i with a mere 460 HP. My only complaint was understeer on long corners and RFT tires (to get the wheels I wanted). New Michelins resolved that.

Despite popular misconception, the video quality in former videos was far better. Detail and color was much nicer overall and 30 fps vs 60 gave the videos a much more professional demeanor
I just bought a 2021 car with 14k miles and it has the Dynamic Handling Package, which was a "must have" option for me. I test drove a regular M550i and thought it was a little too soft and I also test drove an M5 and I thought it was too stiff for daily driving. The M550i with DHP seems to be a nice compromise, in between the regular car and the more hardcore M5. This is a real "sleeper" as you all said and I figured I would pick one up before you can no longer get a 5 series with a twin turbo V8.
I like the higher quality of the video guys! But not a huge fan of the 60fps, looks a little too tv news, not enough epic movie. But I'm sure you guys will get it all sorted, congrats on the new camera's.
Huge fan! Theres however something wrong with the compression of the video. while the framerate increase is noticeable, there isnt a huge difference in video quality and color depth compared to previously, for example the f150 or even farther back x3 video. I even watched the video on three different devices to verify, but its almost like a lot of the video data was either compressed during the editing pipeline or by youtube. Great that youve upgraded your hardware though, but it should look better than it does right now i think
Totally contemplated getting this many times over. Definitely the sweet spot for a nice v8. Recent gas prices deterred me for a while. Was looking at it again. Only issue is you can't get the upgraded stereo in US due to chip shortage and that's a must for me. Guess I'll wait for the EV revolution now.
I've been owning my 2022 M550i as my first car for 11 months so far and after over 25000km on it, I have no complaints at all. The only thing that really bothers me so much is the low-profile tire on my 20' rims. 401 and 403 highways are so bad that made me change my two tires in 4 months and cost me over $700.
Get a wheel and tire insurance if not too late, spend about 2k but it's worth it over 3 years.. A very experienced tire shop owner in NYC told me an average number of flats on low-profiles would be around 3 per year or so.. I just had one last week, got replaced for free by a mobile replacement center (amazing service). Dealer would check your wheels to make sure they are not bent and replace at no cost as well if needed. One bent wheel would cost you half of that insurance. That's why I got 19s..
The cameras do look great!!! Good job on the upgrade. I’d easily take a M550I over an M5 any day, i have been saying that since the M550I came out, best bang for your buck for sure. I had the honor of trying to race one in Bellevue in a 2015 WRX and well lets just say I didn’t win…. Lol… the gentleman racing me was going easy on me
Wonderful camera shoot’s I driven F series 550i, and I felt in love 😻 This is just the best BMW on sales today. It’s the kind of car to keep before ⚡️ cars spoils the fun.
Camera quality is definitely better, but the most noticeable part is how stable not only the video is, but how stable the frames are when it comes to brightness, contrasts, whitebalance ETC.
I was.about to question if UA-cam did something to improve video quality and then you guys mentioned the new gear. Looks great! And so does this BMW! FINALLY a new BMW that doesn't have a repulsive front end.
Might be to you but you can easily change a couple things and make it appear like an M5 which is why I mentioned debadging. If you change the fenders, bumpers and rear diffuser most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.@@daytonasayswhat9333
Absolutely loved the camera footage through the entire video...I was thinking to myself, damn, I must have stumbled on to some secret WI-FI connection to get this video so clear. My goodness, beautiful choice boys!!!!
I seem to be in the minority... but I while I love the detail that the new cameras bring... it really lost the cinematic feel of your running footage shots. Locked down interior shots feel great, but as soon as we're outside the car, the handheld nature is accentuated and the extra framerate shows every little wiggle. At the lower frame rates a lot of that is masked with a little motion blur. If you're going to stick with 60, improved steadycam tech may be your next purchase. Love the content though. Camera change isn't going to dissuade me from smashing that like button (I already clicked subscribe *clap* and ding'd the bell).
Honestly I think the older videos were a bit more vibrant, perhaps these new cameras require a little color grading? Or at least a different color profile (IMO) Also, not sure about 60fps. It for sure is more smooth, but I feel like 30fps is more natural (the issue I have with the colors could just be that I'm not used to it yet. The skin tones do look WAY better!)
@@deander7653 I did. I think after looking at it more the issue is mainly just the 30fps. I think the colors threw me off mostly because they're different then usual
Something feels off about having a car review in 60 frames per second. I think its almost too smooth, I think 24fps looks a lot better and far more cinematic than 60.
First time I’m watching this video, and quality of the video is unbelievable better abd clearer than before. Well spent money!!!! Otherwise you are making very good and interesting videos!!! Just keep up!!!!
I feel like the 60 fps "ruins" the video for me. Now don't get me wrong i like 60 fps videos BUT this 60 fps video looks WAYY too "smooth" i can't quite explain it maybe if you like motion blur and smoothing then i guess its fine but personally i like the 24fps videos more.
@@TheStraightPipes The 24 fps makes it feel more genuine and relatable than this new 60 fps if that makes any sense. I feel like i am watching a Hollywood movie not a car review 😅

This is a real "sleeper" as you all said and I figured I would pick one up before you can no longer get a 5 series with a twin turbo V8.
The extra quality of the new cameras is great but as far as frame rate goes I still think 30 or 24 or whatever it was before looks better lol
It's not a movie, we want 60fps
I noticed the better quality immediately! Love it! Won’t change the fact I watch every episode anyway lol
Fantastic cameras and great resolution, way to go guys.
I noticed within 6 seconds. Dramatic improvement on the video quality gentlemen, well done!!
I like the higher quality of the video guys! But not a huge fan of the 60fps, looks a little too tv news, not enough epic movie. But I'm sure you guys will get it all sorted, congrats on the new camera's.
Noticed the viedoe quality immediately! You guys have always been on point but this upgrade is huge!!
I love my 2020 M550xi. Just bought it 3wks and haven’t taken an L yet. It’s such a sleeper, some people think it’s a 3-series! Love mine.
But in size is like an old 7
@@vladislavdimitrov4646 maybe in weight, but exterior size it not that much longer than a 3 series.
Image quality is great but the 60 fps is a little disorienting! Overall, good video, enjoying the large grill thumbnails!
I thought there's something wrong with my eyes,I couldn't understand what's different,ITS SO GOD DAMN CRISP,THE QUALITY AND THE FPS OH MY GOD
That's why I got 19s..
the frames going hella smooth. It's making my fans of my laptop go brrr
🌬🌬🌬🌬
The dynamic range of the new camera is great. When in car, we can see your faces much clearer then before.
Why don’t all the new BMW models/trims have that upgraded grill, the old ones look so outdated now?
60 FPS on purpose or by an error? Looks a bit unusual
Honestly didnt even notice the bump in video quality... Too busy with the quality content, you guys are awesome ✌️
took our X3 G01 LCI in for service a few weeks ago, saw bunch of the new 530d's in full highway patrol police livery. Looked absolutely sick
Watching this on the new iPhone made it the best video I’ve ever watched, thank you guys for always trying to make things better for us subscribers ❤
Lol… the gentleman racing me was going easy on me
Wonderful camera shoot’s
I driven F series 550i, and I felt in love 😻
This is just the best BMW on sales today.
It's definitely a very good buy. You could easily change the diffuser, debadge the rear and delete a resonator and still have a lot of fun.
De badging is so lame.
Might be to you but you can easily change a couple things and make it appear like an M5 which is why I mentioned debadging. If you change the fenders, bumpers and rear diffuser most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.@@daytonasayswhat9333
The quality of video is amazingly sharp.
We Want More!!!!!
Nice camera upgrade, I feel like I'm sitting in the car with you guys!
60fps looks great especially at the transitions. And the video looks awesome.
Absolutely loved the camera footage through the entire video...I was thinking to myself, damn, I must have stumbled on to some secret WI-FI connection to get this video so clear. My goodness, beautiful choice boys!!!!
As content creators, cameras should always be a top 3 expense. The subtle elevation of quality is appreciated!
They sound better with the different manifold as well
Thats true
I noticed the cameras before you even said anything. I was wondering if my wifi had a better signal for once. Defs worth it guys!
The video didn’t look bad before by any means but I instantly noticed the upgrade even on my phone! Definitely worth.
Honestly I think the older videos were a bit more vibrant, perhaps these new cameras require a little color grading? Or at least a different color profile (IMO)
Also, not sure about 60fps. It for sure is more smooth, but I feel like 30fps is more natural
(the issue I have with the colors could just be that I'm not used to it yet. The skin tones do look WAY better!)
Watch on oled then come back
Definitely prefer the 30fps, maybe even try 24fps. 60fps looks a little weird and not commonly used
@@deander7653 I did. I think after looking at it more the issue is mainly just the 30fps. I think the colors threw me off mostly because they're different then usual
4k 60fps and incredible quality! Thank you for the camera update!
Cameras look killer! I think it would be amazing to have some of the B roll to be shot at 120 and slowed down for that weighty cinematic look.
Finally my car gets reviewed. Love it. Great video guys 👍
Something feels off about having a car review in 60 frames per second. I think its almost too smooth, I think 24fps looks a lot better and far more cinematic than 60.
Ya but we had to try
It's like the coolest soap opera I've ever seen.
Hehe
Long time viewer the camera change really elevates this channel!! Love the content fellas
Is it just me or that front end looks like a skoda octavia??
EXACTLY. THANK YOU!
Delusional
i don't think 60fps fits Reviews that well tbh
I noticed in the preview before I watch the video, the camera resolution was PHENOMENAL. I’m for it!!
I think I still prefer 24fps
Picture quality is so crispy. I noticed right away. Also this M550 is a beast!
30 fps gang. Sorry 🤷♂
12fps >
Legit paused the video 10 seconds in to see if the quality was cranked up from UA-cam's side... new footage looks killer!!
4k60 nice!!
Excellent improved video quality! Also loving the thumbnails, keep up the good work guys!
I feel like the 4K 30fps looked better… this looks very processed
I new something was going on with video quality to the point i was doubting myself 😂 really great improvement guys!
RIP M5 ☠☠☠ With some sportier front seats, engine tune & wheels it's a better daily than a M5.
I have been watching all ur videos in 360p for a very long time and i must say the new Camera gear upgrade so damn good at 480p...😍😍😍😍😍

@@TheStraightPipes love the 60fps btw. Gamer inside me is really happy.
I also like 24 more. This was a test. But if it gets a lot of views maybe we Gotto switch over 🤷🏼♂️ -yuti
@@TheStraightPipes The 24 fps makes it feel more genuine and relatable than this new 60 fps if that makes any sense. I feel like i am watching a Hollywood movie not a car review 😅
Lol yaaa but I mean. If more people like it 🤷🏼♂️
Picture quality looks AMAZING! I noticed it right from the beginning.
