Hey Repair Clinic, dont forget to explain you need to do a circuit board reset to clear the 7-1 bad heater code on your Whirlpool dishwasher after you replace the element. Put in diag mode by pressing the 3 buttons left to right, 123, 123, 123. The clean light will flash 7 times slowly then 1 time slowly - thats a bad heater circuit code. Hit cancel, let drain. Then do the same thing 123, 123, 123, but immediately after you see all the lights come on then go to the 3 white lights, then hit the cancel button and let drain. Once done, there should be no more code and the heating circuit will work.
@travisyoung4795 Let me start by saying that this comment saved me further frustration. To give context, I replaced the High Limit Thermostat in my dishwasher, just like what was shown in this video. I ran a cycle after replacing the piece and was so confused when I still had a blinking “Sani” light. I had a feeling that there would need to be some sort of code change, but NO VIDEO OR ARTICLES that I could find discussed doing this after changing the part. When I saw this comment, I thought it was worth a shot. Every step and identifier that Travis said is exactly what happened and I followed. I then ran another cycle through the dishwasher and FINALLY the “sani” light was no longer blinking at the end. I opened up the dishwasher and steam and heat came out, like I expected, based on normal experience. Thank you so much for making this comment, Travis!
You guys saved me again. Funny part to my repair was that after I put it all back to together and checked to see if I was successful I still had no power. I pulled it out far enough to see that the power cord had come completely out of the socket. Plugged it in and wa-la. It works.
@ProtectProvidePrevail, ?????? You replaced a THERMOSTAT for a NO POWER situation?????? WHY? That would be very rare for a thermostat. Mind-blowing you wouldn't have done even the simplest of checks first to see if you had basic power to ANYTHING before going thru all that.
@@BenDover4Mee 🙄 he didn't say he replaced the thermostat due to no power.... He checked to see if the thermostat replacement was successful and had no power until he plugged the outlet back in.

mounting this thing 6" further forward and you wouldn't have to do anything but remove that underpanel..... ridiculous. Ever get the feeling the designers are just toying with us/you?
I removed everything from the backyard, the house, the basement and the dishwasher.... Now what...??? LOL! A bit over the top just to remove the thermistor, but i understand and get it about protocol... Subbed...
My dishwasher blew a thermal switch. I replaced it and it blew within a week again. All my wires seem to be tight and secure. My dishwasher does heat and also heat dries. Could this thermal switch cause the water to heat continually and never shut the heater element off, causing the other thermal switch to go bad?
Hi, could anyone help ??? I have a dishwasher LBL12A (BRAZIL) but it is W10142826a. She is not warming up. she ends the normal cycle. I tested the resistance is ok. when i run the diagnostics (normal / heated dry (3x) during the process it heats up. what could it be? please !!!!
On our Jenn-air, the heating element is now ALWAYS on - even with no cycle selected. The dishwasher started overheating - plastic was deformed and silverware go so hot, it melted through the basket. The only way to keep the element off is to depower the unit at the breaker. Does this sound like the control board or the thermostat?
jeremiah Barnes I called JennAir and they sent some out even though it was out of warranty. They offered free labor if I bought the parts. The estimate was about $350 (parts only). I declined. JennAir did offer a discount on a new model, but I could find the same model at Home Depot for less. We went with a KitchenAid.
I took mine off and went to buy a new one. The guy " tested" it for continuity , he said it's fine. I was then told by some one else that continuity isn't all that matters on a thermostat . I'm at the end of my wits. Is it true ? I already changed heating element
From homeguides.sfgate.com/test-dishwasher-thermostat-works-102291.html, you test the high limit thermostat, which may be on the right side of the tub, with a light bulb. Another post I saw says use an electric griddle. These should change to zero continuity from 207 - 217 degree fahrenheit. Continuity should be measured at room temperature and no continuity next to a heat source that's at least 207 degree fahrenheit. www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/258317/Why+is+the+water+not+heating+up+during+the+washing+cycle says you have to run the service diagnostic cycle after replacing the heating element and/or high limit thermostat, which some are calling a thermal fuse, or thermostatic fuse. The service diagnostic cycle will reset the unit and the heating element will then heat properly. Other people on the ifixit site are saying there's a blue wire that commonly gets twisted at the hinge point of the door and needs to be checked that the wire at this point is not separated/open.
@@sfort42 yeah I’ve checked all of this to no avail. My dishwasher still won’t heat. 🤷🏻♀️ the next step is possibly the control board even thought every other function still works, at least that’s what whirlpool says.
Make sure you unplug it, leave unplugged for a minute, plug it back in, then run service diagnostic cycle. Try that two or three times, yes, really, then see if it heats. Sorry, these things are extremely finicky and just not well made. You wouldn’t believe what I had to go through to get ours to start heating. If you ever lose power, you gotta go through those same motions to get it to start heating again. Yes, really.
do it his way or,,,my way takes ten min. turn off power to house, leave all lines an wires hooked up. take two screws out, pull out 6 in the dishwasher, its right there to left of dishwasher if ur facing it, umplug thermo. take screw out, plug new one it, put screw in, and put back in two screws to place it in cabinet. boom ten minutes saves u 40 min of work. if works send me ten dollars to go fund me,,,lol thanks
That is ridiculous you don't and cannot undo the hoses and the electrical before you remove the dishwasher from the cabinet where are these people doing this that they think you can get in there to do that before you take it out obviously you pull the dishwasher out and undo all this stuff because that's how it was put in

Great video. Thank you. I was able to remove this part from the floor access panel. It's tight but can be done with a small extension.

Is there a way to test the thermostat with a multimeter to confirm that it is broken?
@@JMcMusicman yes there’s UA-cam videos
@@JMcMusicman Yes.....use a multi-meter to check for continuity. If no continuity, it needs to be replaced.
Are the wires supposed to go on specific lugs
Too many steps and unnecessary work. It's hard to get to but take the access panel off and the door cover off. No need to completely install!
