May just be me, but channel strip compression on a outboard console is a pretty big deal. Having it as an add-on is a little strange. Cool piece all in all!
Nice console! Too bad it's made in China! I would gladly pay another $20-30 thousand for it to have stamped on the back: "Engineered, MFG, and Assembled in England. Why? China has NO Quality Control. Maybe they have a Q.C. Dept. But it's a "rubber stamp". Unless SSL sends it's own Q.C. personnel to oversee operations. China could care less. China also uses child slave labor. Bet the circuit boards are stamped out with slave labor. Or even the assembly dept. How do I know?. I was in China for a year representing the company I worked for that was sending a product line of ours that we were shipping to China. It was a nightmare. I was eventually removed and fired for being "too picky". When are companies going to realize China wants to rule the world and you get what you pay for. Bet my $40 1987 Radio Shack stereo mixer that was made in Japan has better quality components and sound then this $50k console. Care to wager?
I keep mine too , it much better build , with better clarostatt potmeter ,you could build an new 4000 , but it would be verry expensieve . We have just almost finished our "1084 inline console" for our new studio . If you are interested take a look at our face book page "vintage audio projects"
Dude at time 5:58 He talks about dynamics, what are you talking about? smh I highly doubt and SSL would be made without dynamics, that's the best part of the board!
Stevie Wonder completely video bombed this video. 😆😆😂😂😂.. I didnt hear anything about the console after seeing him 🤣🤣. All jokes aside beautiful console. I would love to hear it.
@@guysofly4315 You can add 500 series modules in the center of console, but it would definitely not fit 32 compressors. And buying 32 SSL E-series compressors would cost you around 32 000 USD lol
Yeah. Analog companies are banking hard on the "digital have no soul" memes. But specifically for tracking, a console is still far superior for a smooth and fast session to me.
No consoles are getting smaller as the larger format consoles are phasing out. AMS/Neve and RND are doing the same thing releasing smaller foot print but down consoles mostly used for Hybrid mixing and analog summing.
More channels and less money than the AWS900 . The catch is no moving faders if you need em and no per channel dynamics but who cares when you can add that
AWS channels have no compression either, so only total recall and fader automation would be missing. If you want fader automation there's always Sigma and others, and for recalls most people have been printing back individual channels and stems for years. IMO this is preferable to an AWS.
He knows the product well; why waste time training a bunch of people to sell the product just to appease some random joes on the internet that probably weren't going to buy this anyway?
@@ftj4441 it's toooo spooky to reply to the "Ghost" orland. Land or don't Land. I'm everywhere where tech takes me. Did you ever try to find out what i was trying to tell SSL guys and not you. 😅😅😅
I was expecting it to be a wee bit more money, in Canada you can add 25% to that and it's still pretty decent even after filling that rack space with dynamics. SSL would be my second choice normally, but this could change that. Still, I do love Neve. Maybe go old school and track on the SSL and mix on the Neve, that could be good for business. I can't wait to hear it once it's available here, I haven't heard an SSL that wasn't good yet.
And then a wild stevie wonder appears
wowowow!!

No dynamics on the channel strips, No flying faders? The concept is good, SSL, but it’s far from what we need.
Then it will be a $200,000 console...
Buy a duality then
API competitor is twice the price with far less features. I'm a big fan of API, but this is an undeniable deal.

aestbird nice
When you do an interview and Stevie Wonders rocks up… you didn’t see that coming!
Stevie Was Behind you!
No dynamics on the channel?. that's a no thanks from me.
Exactly
So dumb
that looks like steve wonder in the back ground.
What the heck happened to his mic level at the end?
One of our goals, very soon we will have that one or one like it, it’s a beast, worked on one of them it was no joke, sweet !!
"It's aimed at anyone who wants a 4000". Sure. AND plays in Coldplay , U2...

It looks like a Mackie
I see Stevie in the background!
This will be perfect for my bedroom studio to mix all my Roland boutiques!
AHAH! I think this console might be to cheap for that, you need something at least 3x more expensive :)
50k
If it had dynamics per channel it would be a no brainer for the price. Too bad :/
Is it possible to add the dynamics after purchase? Is it an expensive process?

no recall, blah blah... Give me a Neve Genesys any day over this
@ 7:41 You mention that there is no fader Automation. But, is there a Total Recall available?
Do people even want these consoles anymore?
Yeah. Analog companies are banking hard on the "digital have no soul" memes.

Right, session recalls would be a nightmare.
I do. I love full analog and messing with stuff by hand. I love the sound but I’d love a recall option too.
Well the reason its 50k answers your question... Not so much these days, I reckon in 5-10 years they will be even more affordable...
a hybrid console knocks this out the water easily
Looks perfect for a hybrid studio
The product rep mentioned some about adding fader automation. Something about Sigma Delta. Did he mean Nucleus?
Sigma Delta is an SSL automatable summing box. 16 stereo or mono channels with fader and pan automation.
Fadi looking suave as hell.
SSL on a budget. They should be careful with that. That is not their brand. I would never dream of buying this.
No consoles are getting smaller as the larger format consoles are phasing out. AMS/Neve and RND are doing the same thing releasing smaller foot print but down consoles mostly used for Hybrid mixing and analog summing.
Nice! Has it got a full-access 4000 patchbay? Pretty please?
i have a 4056g in my house. it wasn't made in china
