He seemed to take awhile to get used to being on camera but became another badass member of the team. I think he lives close by unlike his brother 3-4hrs, so we might see him some.

Nice to see Sean and Paul doing the recovery on that sandy hill. That Rat Rod wrecker is awesome! Paul, Jace and Landon working on derby cars is letting the boys learn to build them and correctly.
My daughter and a few of her close friends built a derby car in my shop when she was in college and she drove it and got 2nd place 🥈

Most kids don’t, and that is just the nature of being a kid. They will appreciate it more as they get into there 20’s and start their own families.

@@TheSecretOfNem not really. F1 cars develop a third of the torque my 2 liter diesel Ranger does. The 1000 horsepower makes them the 300 kph monsters they are.
I put 2 u joints and a slider in all my steering shafts.
Customer is not a loser, just a student.

This is a consistently good channel, meaning that the hard work your team puts in keeps you sharp and entertaining, not an easy feat. I've been watching for a couple of years and I find that Fab Rats is one of my top go-to channels..it's the fabrication, the camaraderie, the family aspects, consistent editing and ongoing evolution of technique, and of course, the personalities. Yesterday I was doing some dirt work with a skid steer in Minnesota and it was hot. When I took a break I checked the temperature ... 77 degrees. lol Friday we are expected to hit upper 80s !

You should make some of those recovery eyelets that these new cars seem to have a place for but never carried in the cars. They should all be the same threads you'd think. I got one of a kind rims that cost 4k so I made tow points on my lowered dodge neon and the front bumper/air dam is removable because I listened to you asking us to do this to help recovery people. A great idea I might add.
every car has a different thread pitch for the eyelet so you would need to carry like 40 different ones.

I'm amazed at how much that you are required or can get away with on the derby cars. Way back when my uncle used to derby they would take the glass out, chain the doors, mount the battery and boat tank behind the seats. Cut a hole in the floor and mount a rebar shifter and weld the differential. Almost no reinforcement was allowed from what I can remember
I like format with Paul instructing others in what to do.

Your boys are lucky to have a dad like you. I didn't get quality time like that with my dad due to him having a a debilitating stroke when I was young. I'm fortunate enough that my significantly older brother stepped up to the plate as my roll model though.
The screw in tow bolt is usually kept under the back mat, in with the spare tire, but most people don't know that it what it is for, let alone where to go looking for it when they need it most.
And in this case it was probably buried under a lot of cargo as well.

A little worried, the steering column looks a lot like a spear.
That steering tubing is called “Double D” tubing. If you put two capital D’s back to back is how you get that. The more you know!
I doubt guy would know what, "whipping and spurring" means. But I do and I like your attitude today.
Good recovery, I expect a lot of people who know nothing about the sand in Utah get stuck more often than not! Tourists need to do their homework before going on the trails where the sand is too soft for the vehicle their driving! Fab Rats young men Landon and Jace are lucky to have a dad who taught them well and hopefully keep the Fab Rats business growing! Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊

If seeing a name on the side of a car causes a person that much distress I don't see how they cope with everyday life. Come to think of it I'd actually like to swap places for a day with that kind of person, cause if seeing a name you don't like on the side of a car is the WORST thing that happens to you in a day you got a pretty easy life.

At11:30 ish To get perfectly aligned flats cut with the side of the milling cutter on the "back" and "front" sides of the bar. Perfect every time & quicker.

That's the absolute best time spent by all. It just doesn't get any better than wrenching with your boys and them with their dad. Win lose or draw don't matter. Time is what's up and that is the best of time.

An insanely awesome direction for Fab Rats would be that Paul/dad becomes the teacher/father to yall's kids, especially the boys. We've seen so many awesome dudes come and go, I'm ready to see the family become a b.a. team.
I don't mean the "teacher/father" statement to insinuate that Paul needs to be a father, I meant it as the two highest forms of honor as a man is to be a father as well as teacher to his children. Usually I don’t like seeing a GM engine in a Ford. Demo derbies are torture for an engine,usually from heat. But knowing there’s a good chance that they will blow or get heavily damaged makes me feel better. 😝😝😝

For you math genius types, RPM x torque ÷ 5252 = HP. Another formula stuck in my head for 50 years! After many years of fabrication for steering shafts I have found that for mock up of complex angle shaft joints 3/4" wood dowles work as " fuses" gto find binding in the system. Much faster for mock up. Function over form in derby cars.

Didn't see any haters, maybe all those comments were deleted, curious where you saw them. Saw a lot of very sensitive upset people about comments of people wanting to avoid politics on this fine channel.
Paul and family have gone out of their way to remove anything political from their videos. Blurring isn't hard to do. I blame that on the editing. Someone missed it.

It's pretty obvious which way they lean, I can't imagine how Christians can support him, as an outsider he's antitetical to Christianity, but whatever, the important bit is that they dont get involved with politics or religion in the channel which is a big green flag these days. It's like the good old days where people were just people and just got on with each other as individuals.
