All those trains are really cool. Thanks for showing them.

With trains and train watching it doesn't take long to become enamored. For the past several weeks I have been walking my dog along a bike path along tracks where Amtrak frequently runs, now I have the itch for some modern equipment where I normally stick to older prototypes. Very cool and your wife is a saint lol

Hah, she is! But yes, just seeing all those trains and being immersed in it for a week definitely made it hard to pass up wanting to buy everything! Iain

Good purchases. I also own most of the models show in the video with the exception of the Keikyu line Emus, and the M250 series. Japan model trains can be very expensive if someone wishes to get the full sets. But if someone is only going to play with them for fun and not seriously model them, then a full set is not needed. EMUs are harder to model since they can't really be broken up and need to have railyards and stations the length of the longest train to be realistic looking. As far as Japanese trains, there are so many quality models its a bit overwhelming, and it's hard to find which ones to buy and model, and with limited space, this is why most Japanese people just buy a few trains for a temporary layout they can play with at home. Many people also use rental layouts that are much larger and realistic looking, which can be reserved for a fee. I am collecting Japanese trains myself for a Japanese themed layout of my own. I dont know when I'll get a change to build it but likely within the next 2 years.

What a GREAT Northern adventure !! 😍 I would love to see the KATO prices here in the USA !! The simplicity of DC is hard to pass up. I, too, have a DCC level and DC level, and it seems I never have enough room. The shelf Idea would be another nice addition for sure. Congratulations on your successful trip.

Thanks! The prices definitely worked out in my favor. I think whatever I end up doing would probably include both a DC loop and a DCC loop so that I could do both, yes. Iain

I have several of the Koki 104 sets and that was a good price for that set. The 10-1721 set has two expansion sets that add up to a total of 16 cars. It looks like you enjoyed the hobby stores. 😎😎😎😎

Thank you! I definitely enjoyed the hobby stores, yes. I did see the expansion sets to end up with 16 total cars. The prototype length trains were also awesome to see at that length, too! Iain

While in Japan were you interested in Kato only? There are other brands with equal or even better quality. Kato is not No1 in Japan.

Truly annoying that one can’t like a video more than once.
