- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is finally here and it has delivered based on all that I have experienced thus far. The combat, story, and interactions have all been immaculate thus far, as has the game's transition into an open world setting.

I’m playing my first Final Fantasy game ever with the original FF7 at the moment so I can play Remake intergade and Crisis Core just because Rebirth looks so good to me. I’m about two-thirds through it and It’s like rediscovering gaming cause it’s my first JRPG and I haven’t been so obsessed with a game that I just want to play it all day like this since I was a kid.

Get the 60fps mod if you're playing on PC. They even did voice overs. Graphic mods are nice too

As a 32 year old adult that was raised on video games, but only plays 4-5 different titles a year these days- I have not been this excited for a video game to release since I was a child.

I've had a PC for a while now, and with Windows PC's having access to pretty much any Xbox exclusive. There was no reason to get the Series consoles instead of a PS5 😂 I bought my PS5 for this game and I can't wait.

I am picking this one up for the first in years. I remember Final Fantasy 7 and thinking it was a great game of its time which got my interest in the franchise again. I am really trying to expand my turn based combat in the future. Currently, off Matty’s advice. I am playing Grand Blue Fantasy with my son and the first two chapters are promising. A big thank you to Matty who for years has worn me down to giving JRPG’s a chance.

If you played the rebirth demo with the recent Junon update you knew that this game was bound to be amazing lol. Feels like the most fully realized FF open world… ever.
Not saying a lot with open worlds and FF is concerned, but it’s still very nice to hear.
@@bdof1 just know that it effectively feels like a great rpg open world. Lots of unique locales, side activities, crafting/gathering. Much better than XV’s open world, but then again most open worlds are better than XV
So I haven't played Ever Crisis but did watch a compilation of the cutscenes from the mobile game. I knew before even FINISHING Remake that you needed more than just knowledge of OG FF VII and the Remake trilogy. Lesley and others were additions from the two books released set in the FF VII universe "The Kid's Aren't Alright" and "Tale Of Two Pasts". It has been clear since around half way through Remake that the goal of the Remake trilogy is to try and as neatly as possible tie together ALL the media of FF VII together from the OG game all the way through Ever Crisis and newer media from the same universe.
minor nitpick, but it's "The Kids Are Alright" =P (that said, I hope we see more characters from the books)

the only significant thing you need to know to understand the remakes are a few things about crisis core and advent children. there's also lifestream black and white books

Glad to hear your only complaint was pacing as it has similar pacing issues for the Remake. However, I never had issues with pacing in Remake so now Im even more so excited for Rebirth!

Same. I've always had a higher tolerance for filler and downtime in games than most people do because I've always enjoyed the journey more over the destination.
I mean the whole of the first game was about 3 hours in the original game, so yeah, pacing haha.

But after I played the original then played Remake I heard where the game ended and I thought "oh this is going to be really short or really padded out" , but then was surprised by its length and how well paced it was for me. They added new main quest stuff which I was satisfied with. And maybe the reason I didn't have an issue with pacing was because I did every single side quest, so I wasn't as worried about pacing.
And chances are with Rebirth I will approach it the same way. As Im replaying Remake now again Im doing every side quest once again and the game has been flying by for me. My first 10 hours have only felt like 2 hours and I just can't get enough and can't wait for Rebirth!

The side quests being worth it is the most crazy thing coming from a final fantasy and my main concern for this game. Of course, there will probably be some dull ones but glad to hear they're usually worth it.

I've never actually wanted a PS5 until this moment. It's going to be a difficult year waiting for Rebirth.
I understand that people don't like doing the towers to reveal the areas, but they are needed, as it makes it easier to trick things. It's a necessary evil we need, they just need to find a way to make them fun or a reason to do them in the first place.
I just beat my first playthrough of ff7 rebirth and after 76 hours I can say I absolutely loved the game and it made me appreciate all the characters way more than I thought I ever would! What a great cast of characters. Best game of 2024 so far imo.

I actually really enjoyed the sidequests in remake …. Er for what they were. There were only like 20 total and most of them took like five-ten minitws so to me it was just nice to get more time with the characters and some had some good lines. But new game plus … yeah I skipped the ones I could while still unlocking the dresses
Less than a week to go! We waited so many years for Final Fantasy VII Remake, we waited 4 years for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I am so excited! Avoiding spoilers until I get the game and reach the end credits! I CANNOT WAIT!
I'm playing medieval dynasty as it was fully released about 3 months ago. Not really in your wheelhouse as the survival aspect, but the village management is something I haven't been able to play since the old Stronghold Crusader days

It’s refreshing to see somebody that finally enjoys this game for what it is a lot of people out there talking shit but I think this was one of them more fun, open world games I played at least since either Hogwarts or ghost of Tsushima

Triple Triad.....that is the reason for me giving Queen's Blood a try. I have a hell of a time popping in Final Fantasy VIII, and NOT getting sucked into countless hours of Triple Triad.
Queens Blood is now a close second as a favorite card game. I think I am only missing the Gilgamesh and Ultimate Party Animal cards. But those are for my second go through.
(Got the Pixel Remasters......those always hold a higher place in my heart. I, IV, V, and VI. And I finally get to see how III should be and play.)
As someone who played the og FF7 after remake, I feel like people forget just how rough the pacing of the original is as well. Several times during my playthrough, I'd feel like it was building up to some big story moment, only to get sidetracked by some random quest. Not to mention the grinding through random encounters or the tedium of trying to backtrack through the map to find some key person or item you missed.
Remake definitely had pacing issues as well, but at least the gameplay kept it engaging throughout, and the added length gave key story moments more room to breathe (I was surprised how little of an impact the sector 5 slums had in the original).
Anyway, so if the gameplay is good, the pacing issues don't really bother me all the much. It's just par for the course with the series.

Nonsense, the pacing in the original is excellent, the pacing in the remake is poor due dragged out segments and overly long puzzles.

I liked 7 Remake but there were several issues with it that are still present in Rebirth's demo so I'm probably waiting for a sale. Dunno if I wanna spend full price on another 7/10.
I wish final fantasy x got this level of remake honestly, it was my first final fantasy and my favorite and I think the setting and characters would look incredible with current gen visuals.
I was optimistic, but got a bit nervous after seeing reviewers praising this game since it reminded me of ff16. I absolutely felt like my time was wasted in 16, but then I remember that you felt the same and your review is spot on on how I feel about the game. So I watched this review and feel optimistic again, since it looks like it's going to be the opposite of ff 16. Btw I'm gonna spend so much time dueling and be an absolute duel fiend in this game 😂😂😂. Sephiroth who? I'm here to complete my deck 😂
What are some aspects of 16 that you didn’t like? I’m asking this question so that we can see if you will like rebirth or not. Rebirth has pacing issues like 16, but hopefully it won’t be as bad as that for example. If it’s combat, they are both vastly different as rebirth is way more strategic and it includes a lot more rpg elements than 16.
The synergy skills remind me of Chrono Trigger. Hell yeaaah.

I hope its like FFXIII where once you get to archelyte steppe you really start to lose yourself in the music, the moment and you never let it go.
Can you convert the cards into items? Tetra Triad in FF8 was fun, but the best part was the the best/rarest cards could be transformed into some of the best items in the game, or used to craft the best weapons in the game.
Also, do you happen to know if/when the game will be available on playstation plus so I can play it from my pc? I will eventually buy it on pc when it comes out, but I don't want to buy it twice.
The first game came to ps plus 2 years after release, but I doubt this one would being the sequel

Nope - nothing carried over aside from a Leviathan summon materia if you’ve played the first.

I’m excited for this game but I’m saving it for later. I’ve never played a FF game before so I’m going to play a lot of them that were released before the FF7 remake series.
Each ff game has it's own style, world, characters and themes. Ff7 is wholly unique compared to the rest because it's more of a cyberpunk style rather than high fantasy. 7 stands on it's own just so you are aware.
I was about to tell them that lol you can really jump in almost wherever you want since a lot of the numbered titles have nothing to do with each other.

The midgard part in og ff7 was not 2-3 hours short that’s ridiculous , maybe on playthrough 3 or 4 when you skip all the dialogue and know how to do all puzzles and bosses or use the speed up modifier in the remaster

I think you can enjoy Rebirth without any prior knowledge as is just a game with fun charachters, beautiful world and fun self contained moments. And they will give you short recap of events.
BUT
You will definitly get lost sometimes wondering on who how and why in overarching story and some things just hits you in a different way if you know or don't hit you at all if you don't know
