Toby you never let me down ( 67yo pandemic beginner) Love your calm soothing voice. Continue to make it simple, enjoyable. Your simple palette is easy on my eyes, brain, budget. I've come to enjoy one-line drawing. The pretty watercolors make the sketching pop! Thank you for videos for beginners, no talent, no schooling -- in other words me🙂😊😂

    Hi Toby!
I'm 33 and have been trying to learn drawing/watercolour since the pandemic. Your videos have been the first resource to finally break down the intimidating wall that is "Blank-Page Syndrome". You've made finding shapes in a a scene, texture, colour, value, and perspective so approachable. And your Bob Ross style of embracing your mistakes helps me to let go and get ink on paper.
    Thank you,
    -Matt

When I get tired, I get distracted and tell myself there’s nothing else to sketch. 😭😊
Your talk as you go is great ASMR for me.
And last, thank you for showing yourself in real speed and talking as you go. It gives me an idea of realistic time and thinking.

Wonderful video. I find the balance you strike between real and abstract to be just right to absorb my attention and stimulate my brein to joine the dots.
The freedom you express in your use of colour draws me to your videos time and time again.
Thank you for taking the time to post them.

What I find really difficult with sketching, is to get the proportions right. Doesn’t ‘come easy’!!!

I get tired after 2 or 3 sketches but mine are a little bigger too. Simplifying uses a lot of brain muscle! It's a discipline

at 10.18 in video, I Love the way you just have to keep adapting and moving on in response to the wetness of paper/paint. Demonstrating just keep flowing... choices are always being made in the moment, a change of plan....
so just come back later to that sketch👍 That's why i've taken to watercolour and looked up your videos, for the watercolour paint fluidity, unpredictability and adapting and responding in the moment.
Thankyou for showing and teaching your way of how to adapt and flow along as you go.

First time watching your videos and I cannot believe the inspiration you have provided! Thank you so much!! I am very new at Ink and Wash and look for to give me the information I need to put pen to paper. I look forward to watching more of your videos and who knows, I might put my Lego and diamond painting on the back shelf and just draw/paint for a while!

Well, when is too much ? This is my biggest challenge!...I've done a bit of abstract painting in watercolour so I have some understanding but as for knowing when to stop....totally out of my depth!...still, I did a little couple of scenes as I watched this video and I really like what I put down....so now I just need to repeat the exercises ad nauseum and I'll develop a more skilled result.....it's a lovely journey.....and I love your limited palette....I struggle with that on live scenes and end up splashing colour everywhere,! Lucky I can laugh at myself..❤❤❤

What I really like about this one is the process:
    - let's experiment with this
    - do I like it? do I want to do more with this? And if not, just move on
    - and iterate on the minimal ink/color approach to grab the essence
And I love those sheep. Putting them in same pasture with the cows.

Hi Toby. Your courses are wonderfully liberating for us oldies who always found drawing too hard. So I find I get tired when I do not simplify images sufficiently and spend so much time on the drawing that I have to come back and add the colour washes later.

    I really enjoyed this video.
I find I get tired about 15min in. I take medication which effects energy and focus. Sometimes I can stretch the time but I find my sketches tend not to work out as I hoped.
When I get tired I tend to overwork my sketches. Lots of competing black lines and my hatching gets more squiggly and doesn't match the previous uniform hatching.

yes continous line is so Lovely.
at 6.46 in your video... I wonder if you remember ...bDo hold your paper a little elevated from table, to allow paint to run down. I'm learning how you do what you do 😊.
    Mmm Warm/cool colours
and colour wheel. i will go check your playlist for more this subject. in case you have a video somewhere.

That is a lot of sketches, and yes attention span and focus is an issue. Short stints work well. As I get tired my style gets looser and bolder, but then i go into had-enough mode.
Not cleaning palette yep that occurs too.

To make Art a calming and approachable subject.
I find it's very restful to listen to your calm commentary as you paint/sketch along Toby
videos with popping up labels, inserts / distractions are tiring for my brain.
Thankyou sooo much for not adding background music to your videos. I find they clash with voiceover and Compete for attention. (As a neuro divergent viewer) Rosa
