Awesome video as usual Gallery Aquatica TV! Loving your videos, you are producing some the best reefing content on youtube at this present time so keep up the good work guys ;)
Was great to see a video on this as I am going through same experience. Only my system is 400 gallons total and they are in sump frag tank and main display . It's such a hassel dealing with these aptasia .but I put in 10 peppermints and am using aptasia x today. Love all the videos you do. Thanks for a the efforts in making them!
Peppermints are great but the bigger the tank the less effective they can be. 10 peps in 400 gallons should definitely help, but I’d keep up the Aiptasia X. Cam
And to think I bought Majanos from my LFS back in the day. They were green and purple, and looked absolutely stunning under my T5's. Later, when I got afraid of them, I removed them with a seafood fork. Luckily I bought them cheap ;)
“....last time the cappuccino didn’t work....” LOLOL That cracked me up! 😂 Seeing this makes me even more determined to take care of things like this as soon as I notice them if at all possible, rather than putting it off until there are enough to make it “worthwhile.” I’m ashamed to say I’ve been very guilty of this in the past....😒
The coffee machine... Bahaha. Was hoping you were introducing a new Cam original "caffeine" method for Aiptaisia removal! 😂 Great video - love your work. Keep em coming!
I threw my X away after countless times of them returning after treating. They release babies when threatened and for sure x and vinegar pisses them off. Peppermint shrimp and filefish eat them I would have just let them do the work. I’ve lost all faith in any sort of vinegar or topical treatment; it just makes things worse in the long run.
Professional production, feels just like we are watching a segment on TV. Would you share your opinion about other methods like using hot water, pepper mint shrimp, berghia nudibranch, butterflies, n filefish?
My preference for biological control are peppermint shrimp and copperbands. We can’t get Bergia in Australia and I’ve never had success with filefish. Cam
Hi, I’m a freshwater aquarium guy, however I love knowledge and hope to get a marine tank again someday. Not only that I’ve got some great ideas that are also fresh appropriate. My question is how do those pest anemones affect the the tank long term if left alone? 🇦🇺Regards Duzzy 🇦🇺
Hi Darren, pest anemones sting corals and reduce the useable space to put coral. They might not necessarily look ugly individually, but when the tank is overrun with them it definitely doesn’t look good. Cam
Do you dillute that vinegar before using it to the anemone / aiptasia or just use it at full power? I'm gonna use heinz vinegar with 5% idk if that's too much or not?
@@GalleryAquaticaTV I have another suggestion. Use Sodium hydroxide (dry) mixed with water 1:1. It forms jello on contact with salt water and then holds for a few hours even under moderate flow. I have zero aiptasia survival rate and it's cheap! I guess actually it is the main ingredient of aiptasia-X. I killed small majanos with it too, no problems. www.reef2reef.com/threads/new-diy-two-part-recipes-with-higher-ph-boost.344500/page-15 - this is where I've found it. Also, the recipe for dosing from this thread is great!
Guilherme Mendes Aiptasia and Majano’s are a nasty pest and absolutely not worth keeping. Issues as described in the introduction include prolific multiplication rates, and their capacity to sting desirable corals with their nematocysts. Explosive population numbers generally represent Aquariums which might be higher in nutrients. They can multiply not only by sexual reproduction- spawning - but by fragmentation meaning if they get squashed into a thousand microscopic pieces, you will quickly have a thousand new ones pop up. As with many pest issues in a marine reef tank, prevention is by far the best cure.
Lisa DiMercurio I’ve had the same results ... I had a friend recommend “training” the shrimp before going to the main display. Have a QT where you can starve them with nothing else to eat but rocks with Aptasia on them. I’ve always had back luck where they wouldn’t eat anything but my corals. Good luck, I’m going to try this as well.. and maybe drop a few in the overflow in hopes they get what’s in there
I am going to fly to Australia for the sole purpose of giving this guy a hug.
Another great 👍 informative video Cam and the guys. 👍🏴
Thanks John😊
Our tank looks amazing now ! Thanks so much Cam for caring for our marine tank : - ) Mechanics2U Repco Service Rocklea Qld 4106
Watching a lot of your videos. Very professional with your work and informative. It’s great seeing all these tanks. Good stuff.
Thanks Mark, we totally appreciate your feedback😊 Cam

try a copper band butterfly one did wonders for me in my 300
Tank looks nice and clean afterwards. Nice work.
Wil Santiago Reefing thank you so much
One more time, excelent! 🇧🇷
Thanks Marcelo! Cam

I’ve heard of LFSs selling Aiptasia as “Soft Corals”. If I were the customer who bought that I’d ask for a free side of Aiptasia X😂
More very useful info.

Lol, I’m so glad someone got that😂😂
How do you make the canopy for rimless tanks like that? Great video
Our cabinet maker makes them😊 Cam
Great job 👍
Cheers mate😊
what happens if you were to pull them out?
I used berghia veronicas to totally irradicte aiptasia. They get the foot and all. Not sure how they work on some of the jumbo aiptasia?
G Sander unfortunately for us, we don’t have Berghia nudibranchs available in Australia
G Sander great advice for international reefers though, thank you so much for your input

Hi Ken! I really enjoyed your video! You know the very first fish in the video (the blue one) what kind of fish is it please?? Cheers Ken!! 😀👍
paul deacon I think you’re referring to a blue Damsel😊 Ken
@@GalleryAquaticaTV No Ken, it's sort of long & thin with a blue stripe running all along it's body 😀👍
@@pauldeacon8764 It is a cleaner wrasse.
Good work and great video I never actually knew how to "inject them". I was secretly hoping you were gonna jump in the tank...
No way Jose! Aiptasia sting your delicate skin areas😂

Hi how do I get rid of palay zoa for good and purple mushrooms.
Kind regards

I use it full strength but I usually do a waterchange immediately after so I don’t have to worry about overdose. Cam
Will peppermint shrimp eat small fanworms?
I don’t think so. There’s probably some things that they eat that we’d prefer they didn’t but nothing that I’m aware of. Cam
I like the 1/3 vinegar 2/3 kalkwasser cure.
I’ll have to try that...

I put a copper band in my tank , did the trick . couldn't use the treatment as my tank is to deep to do .
Yeah, copperbands are good at eating Aiptasia but are a little bit prone to death. Cam
There are stores which sell those anemones as display creatures
Please, what are the species of anemones of the video? Do they have comercial value? is it worth having? Thank you

they are pest I believe and have no commercial value
Damn these were some huge aiptasias
Some of the biggest I’ve wrangled😂
Tell me how to show you my tank. O live 1200km from sea. Capital of Brazil
Your best bet is to message the Gallery Aquatica Facebook page. Cam
I hope the peppermint shrimp do the trick. I added 2 of these shrimps about 4 days ago but so far they haven't eaten any of the aptasias

@@haveaniceday5780 as of today 1 aptasia has been eaten only about 10 more to go
Interesting guy
Thanks mate😊
Slowly chase the Aiptasia back into its hole; then use a smidgen of reef epoxy to entomb it. Dead.
Why don't you just pull them out of the tank? Not trying to be a smart ass I'm seriously asking.
they will release spores if you do that.
i wish majano wasn't a pest, they're beautiful
