Glad you got him out. I have been scared to get a carpet anemone for this reason, shame because they are my favorite anemone. Hope the fox face pulls through!
They're so beautiful - and so are was the fox face. Unfortunately, he died a couple days later from all of the stress. It's a shame how it turned out but lesson learned.
Dude.....That was amazing.....I'm so glad you didn't give up.....although.....don't know if it paid off......did it? Did he survive? I'm thinking about getting one of those and I have a Tang that is really chancy. He tends to push things and touches everything in the tank. So I have a bit of a bad feeling about him getting a little too close and that happening to him. So.....I'm a bit hesitant. Thus the reason for researching this carpet Anemone.
The fox face died a couple days later from all of the stress. As awful as the situation was, I wanted people to be aware of the unfortunate possibilities that can occur with having this carpet Anemone.
My biggest fear of getting an anemone for my reef tank that has about 11 fish in it. 3 are clownfish. And i thought that the long tentacle anemones were the worst
I have a green bta and I added a small blue tank into my tank and he was doing good for the first two days and then I caught him hanging out in my anemone and I had to reach down there to scare him out because the anemone didn’t wrap him up right away but for a week he did not eat and he hid down in rocks and one night before I turn my lights of I saw him laying on his side barely breathing so I knew he was dead by morning got up at 6 am and I saw his corpse drugged up by a shrimp, and 4 days ago one of my shrimps is missing and at the same time my anemone is shrinked up like he just ate
Guess everyone is diff but i would have had my hands in there to loosen him, but that's just me, had a magnifica about 30cm diameter extended and had to move him once felt it for a day or two later still from the stings.
The same thing happened to me but i saw my fish already dead in the anemines mouth. Is it safe for other fishes in the same tank with annanemone? Will my anemone eat the other fishes?
Aww so glad you managed to get him out! Hope he's ok. I couldn't have left him to his fate, even though as you said its nature. Wouldn't mess with my Darwin clown pair - they're killers when I put my hand in the tank haha.
THAT was awesome! I couldn't look away. I had to find out if that fish was gonna make it. Love your channel, love your site, love your stuff. I found Coralust doing a search for coral in PA. Your channel is like everywhere! So cool. Also, love your artwork. I subscribed and will be ordering from you soon! Question, HOW did you make the videos of the coral tanks on each section of your site? One page is as nice as the next! Those pages are amazing!!
+Daniel Fahey thank you for watching. The site is still a work in progress. Some of those are just clips from the display. Trying to get more colorful reef pictures.
A few years ago I got the end of my finger sliced by a dorsal spine of my adult Foxface while cleaning my aquarium, man, it was painful as hell for a few hours after, but luckily, no other serious affects occurred. However, I would not recommend it.
Had this very same carpet grew to be 12+ the size of a dinner plate, had the strength of a human hand when he grabbed my yellow tang. I wouldnt keep anything in with haddoni if I was you beyond clowns. Clowns lure fish to their death.
don't film when trying to save your fish? what are you thinking saying you might leave him there to diE? you are responsible for all your pets no matter how much they cost? its like saying "I hate this member of my family, so I'm not gonna try my very best to save him".. imma post this on my facebook reef group
A QT could be blacked out and lights kept off. He was already stressed anyway. I doubt a QT would have added any more than he already had almost becoming lunch for an anemone
Let nature be nature? You have everything in a glass box, it's not nature! Your mistake was the lack of effort you put in to saving the life of a fish. You could have had him out a lot sooner if you'd not worry about the camera or how much each one cost you and just saved the fish! Disgraceful
Glad you got him out. For me, I'd save the fish always, even if it means the carpet dies.
yeah its hard to watch a fish like that struggle and not want to help it.
Crazy video, glad you were able to get the guy out, hope he pulls through
+Inappropriate Reefer Yeah it was unexpected. I'd better get that reef insert in there quick. Those anemones don't play around.
Those are some amazing looking carpet nem btw!
Ohhh man! That was hard to watch... rooting for the foxface to pull through!
+Rob Burgess thanks Rob

Those nems are bad ass. Did the foxface full through.
Yes but he's forever banish to the refugium.

+Chris Groves yeah those clowns get pretty territorial.
What are the dimensions of this tank?
Yep that fish got fucked up. No way he survived.
Gloves.
You are so right! Always were protection.
They can sting you through plastic gloves???? If I had carpet anemones...I’d have gloves. Pretty shitty situation.

did you not think to use gloves?

It's a deep tank and in a mixed reef sometimes nature is nature and there isn't much you can do.
For this I just used the tweezers. The fox face can sting you so it's better to not get to close.
was he able to live on after that..? :(
No sadly...
It's dead already !!! Smdh
So why didn't you use gloves? Also don't you have a QT tank to put the Foxface in? Sad video.
+Douglas Smith yes but didn't think the gloves would do much good or moving to qt. It was a tough call to make.
I wouldn’t move him to a QT after all that. The additional stress could kill him.
A QT could be blacked out and lights kept off. He was already stressed anyway. I doubt a QT would have added any more than he already had almost becoming lunch for an anemone
