- Even with the report dates fast approaching, the offseason still isn’t over yet. This is also when the Cubs like to be opportunistic. What does that mean this time? Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic explore those options, and share their first impressions of new closer Ryan Pressly. Plus, some context around the San Diego trade rumors (Dylan Cease, Michael King) that typically draw in the Cubs.
Catapult into clear favorites... are they now?
Are the Padre's beat reporters saying that the ownership there wants to clear another 15mil out and everyone is hearing the same thing and it appears pretty solid.... if that's so then Cease or King would prob be available or another key player...
What Preller wants to do is irrelevant though if ownership says "lower payroll" & fighting over ownership authority inside the team as well. Of course Preller doesn't want to trade them but nobody wants Arraez or Cease or King for the price Preller is asking. So wait him out & Padres owners demands will make Preller come to you.
This is a really intelligent take. I think you're onto something. It does sound like Preller is asking for double what his guys are worth because he knows he'll be shut down by other GMs. Then he can go back to ownership and say, "Well, I tried, sorry."
Cubs….invited BAD CARMA by hiring that manager !! It will be long time before they can get back to World Series
They're not going to the playoffs but yet everyone gets excited for the season, look at the bold moves the winners make and the Cubs sit on their hands and sign the crumbs
Cubs are far better than they were in 2024 already. Roster is just fine. They haven't sat on their hands. Please do research before you type.
