You made this so easy! I actually did this all on a second live USB stick that didn't have persistent data and got my main usb for ubuntu up and running like it was nothing. Way easier then fricking windows

I get that 75% now do get used as a persistent storage - do I get this right that the remaining 25% then result in this "writable" partition which kind of serves as a normal USB Stick plugged into it - which is available on any other device I connect this USB stick on (while the persistent storage will be hidden) ?

This will only work with Ubuntu?

Nice video! I have tried to do the same for Kubuntu 21.04 but in that case, and when I booted it using my MacBook I have just realised it asked me for "trying Kubuntu" or "installing Kubuntu". The installation option only allows me to install everything on my Mac hard drive and if I just get a new app using "discover", it disappears when I reboot the usb. Any idea on what is going on? Thank you

I have a question I hope you don’t mind. If you make changes to the configuration file, for example add a new desktop picture, change font size, etc., how do you save that to boot up each time?
    Thanks for responding!

In that case I think you would just install Ubuntu onto a USB directly, which makes is like a normal OS, but on a USB stick. So you'll need 2 USB sticks, one for installation and one for installing and running the OS on. :)

I did this because my HDDis controlled by Intel RST which does not support Linux ,so I keep always my USB stick attached and run Linux

ah. Shouldve known this was going to be the one video i needed, but with a guy using an unknown terminal that i dont know about and not even explaining what hes doing. I simply want to create a ubuntu usb with persistence using my GUI since i dont know anything about terminals yet. frustrating.

Its simply the Ubuntu terminal, Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with a KDE Desktop environment pretty much. So you're using the Bash terminal with the usual set of Ubuntu command line tools.
