This video shows a timelapse video on how to create a stylized material within Substance Designer. Substance Designer can be a somewhat technical program, but with enough practice any artist can become really good at it. The goal of the video was to make a material in less than an hour.

Damn. This is a awesome workflow. thank you for showing this technique to us. :D
barely getting into sd, this helps V a lot to understand the process. thanks man :)
Texture master!👍🏻
Awesome stuff!
just Amazing 👍
this morning the baby sitter got me i trouble and i was really mad but the soothing music in your vids are really clam/peaceful.and I'm getting my laptop in September 13 so i can start learning 3D modeling
Hope it's a good laptop. Check out Autodesk you can get full version of maya or 3ds max if you are a "student". Little secret you don't have to really be a in school to get it.
Laptops are a bunch of problems to 3D , be sure of your buy
@@Daniel-tj6mc It's better to start with Blender, as 2.8 has very friendly interface now.
I'm in awe. I've been using zbrush and substance painter for almost a whole semester and I've never thought of using zbrush to make my alphas 😭
thats some amazing work man
Thank you!
Special thumbs up for the Music :D
Awsome Thanks so much !!
awesome, I wonder if eventually you would be able to rotate .OBJ files in Designer, in the mean time how did you render the height map ?
Thank you very much
Amazing
Wow..this is amazing
Thank You
Very cool material
Thank you very much!
I don't really understand everything but the final result is neat for sure.
very good idea to take pictures in the zbrush viewport!!
it's good for complex shapes
How did you get the skull alphas to blend seamlessly with each other?
you are my angel
Hey great stuff man! I was just wondering if you could help me out, can i somehow use the model i`ve created in blender as an input for tile sampler or tile generator? Or the only way to do it is by transforming my obj into alpha like you did ?
I think you would need to render it as alpha/height to be able to use it. I don't believe you can use a model straight into a node.
@@3dextrude yeah right i figured this out, just used alpha. Do you know how to bake material with ambiet occlusion + normal + height+ roughnes for substance painter? i mean i`ve created the maps and i import them to substance but cant bake them together to create a material. I can however manually drag them into materials of the brush but there is no AO layer. I was just wondering if you could give me a tip.
I love this, it's exactly the sort of thing I want to learn to create. Can anyone recommend good resources for learning substance designer from the beginning? I'm familiar with painter, but not designer.
There is an official channel called "Substance" which goes through the basics and more, it's a great place to start. You learn the basics (duh) and also get a good idea how to do your own stuff. After that, look at more of 3dEx's and other's videos.
Daniel Thiger’s Substance tutorials are unbeatable. One of the best in the game hands down
Man, I dont know much about designer, still gotta properly learn it, but I love how it lets you create this one node that will take your input and tile it in all sorts of way. Fucking awesome :D
Yeah the program is great
nice tutorial but if I linked alpha doc from zbrush to normal there are edges ... like waves...
Una consulta, alguien sabe de algún programa de modelado gratis del cual se pueda obtener un mapa de altura según valla cambiando la figura como en el video?
Ништяк,страшно вышло,одни черепа 💀
Hello, I love this tutorial and tried to do it but the edges of the alpha I exported from zbrush look kind of low resolution when I increase the normal map value in substance designer(pixelated outer edges but rest of the map and details looks fine). How can I export very high resolution alpha from zbrush?
You can always increase the document size in zbrush, where you create new document you can also increase the size there. In Substance, make sure your maps are set to 16bit, this shows up under the node as L16. If any node is not set to that, click on it and in the parameters- output format- set to absolute and change to 16 bit
How to export bitmaps from Blender?
Some people are just that awesome
You can be awesome too!
@@3dextrude I will with those tutorials!
Can anyone explain to me how to do this Alpha export from blender please? Thanks in advance!!
Why don't you try bag modelling
How do u put ur image references in? Is that a spotlight image?
That's not in Zbrush, I used puref for that. It's another window
Can we export this to substance painter and use it as a smart material since it's fully procedural?
Что за музыка играет?
What kind of music is playing?
Wonder if is that easy in blender to scatter out those skulls on the texture.. Any idea?
I believe there is a way, but I am no Blender expert.
search "blender bake texture" not 100% functional but you can do it on substance painter it is much eazy way
Hi, does purchasing the material also come with the 3d model of the skull and bones?
It does not
@@3dextrude Ah, alright thanks. Is there anywhere I can purchase the 3D models or are those not for sale?
Not currently@@clack1727
How can I make that in Photoshop?
damn me here lookin for bone pile prop for sfm x(
What do you do in Photoshop
Resizing so it was a perfect square ratio
Is there any slow version please
it's in the video description or by joining Patreon or Premium page. Keep in mind they are not narrated videos.
Are the skulls and bone turned into a procedural map in some way or just a normal image??
They are bitmaps which you can arrange in Designer. So not fully peocedural.
@@3dextrude cool thanks
Заебись
More maya plss
I will always post Maya stuff so no worries
Looks like soul sand of Minecraft xD
lol
I don't understand this is a texture that you can use in a modeling?
It could be used as a ground texture or add to a model. Like say a container with skulls.
