    I buy small plastic jewelry zip top bags (about 1” x 2”) and divide my vitamins into daily packets, then put them all in 1 ziploc sandwich bag. At the end of the trip, all I have left is the baggies, which I can either reuse or toss.

    I keep a list of everything I bring on my trip. When I return I check off every item I used. This will show if I had forgotten or lost anything during my journey. And anything I didn’t use will not be brought on my next trip.
    I keep all liquids in 100 ml containers or smaller. Never had problems going through security. The reason I keep them all in one bag is that just in case if anything get spilled it’ll be contained within the bag. I’ll also throw in some paper napkins in the bag for extra safety measures.

    This is a great refresher video especially if we have not travelled in the past few years. I like to pack the least possible especially clothing. On long journeys we pick up so much that we'll need the extra space. Plus when we repack, it's never as tight as the first time. As you said, liquids and gels and metal that make scanners go off - put them in see through zip lock bags. I always bring a few extra garbage bags and empty backpack with me just in case my luggage is over the weight limit. Don't forget to renew passports, visas, driver's licenses, etc. Thanks for sharing

    These are all such excellent tips. For several years, I was going once a month on a road trip with my sister to visit our Mom. I ended up purchasing a second charge cord for each device I brought with me. I always had my cords, plus I didn’t have to keep unplugging them at home, packing them, plugging them in where I stayed, unplugging them to bring them home, then replugging them back in once I was home. I had a separate little case that held all my labeled cords, and it worked out perfectly! I never forgot to bring them with me and I never left them behind at a hotel or Airbnb!! Also, with vitamins and medications, I always packed extras. You never know when your trip might get extended, either for a reason beyond your control or just because you wanted to extend it a day or 2!!

    Packing your pills in a pill organizer is a great idea, but I would put that organizer in a zip-top bag. I had an organizer loose in my suitcase on one trip, only to find that some of the compartments had come open and my pills were scattered throughout my suitcase. If you put it in a bag, you can roll up the bag and put a rubberband around the roll to help keep them closed, and if they do still manage to come open, your pills are still safe in the bag.

    If you are traveling with prescription medicine and they always put it into larger bottle that you don’t need to take on a trip with you, because the bottle could’ve held 10 times the prescription amount, you can ask your pharmacist to print you a separate label and you can put that label on a very small bottle. I’m not sure the pharmacy will do this after you’ve had a prescription for sometime. I always ask for the extra label at the time I’m picking up the prescription and immediately put it on a very small bottle and transfer my prescription to get small bottle.

    I always make a list of things I need. I always overpack..so it helps me not pack as much, and I always leave a little section for before I LEAVE on my paper somewhere that has my ID, charger, medication I can't buy, headphones, make-up,brush, etc that are items we usually leave out cause we use them before we leave.

      I was once an over-packer. I was cured of this when I was dinged about 24 Euro for overweight charges. One tip I have heard is to lay out all the clothes you *want* to take. Then cut that by half. Maybe even cut by half one more time after that. Doing some laundry is always an option. Also finding materials that don't retain odor. If travelling in winter, layers made with merino wool are good for keeping warm and not retaining sweat/BO. Plus, if you don't pack a lot, you have room in your luggage for nice things you can buy at your destination! 😁

    • @koenven7012
      @koenven7012 Рік тому +1

      @@labtechsuperstar true. There are now trips I take where I know laundry is cheap so I'll pack only about half of what I need and I have them do laundry. another great tip is to have laundry done a couple of days before you leave, so your clothes are all nice and fresh when they go into your bag, it's easier to pack them and you can just put them back into the closet when you come home.

    A 2 gallon zip-lock bag works well for most shoes. I disagree about packing your bulkiest shoes. My alternative tip is to wear slip-on shoes to help you get through security quickly and easily. If you do have bulky shoes, go ahead and pack them, but make sure you fill the space inside of them with other things like socks, T-shirts, etc. (Put those items in zip-lock bags if you are worried about them smelling like feet.) Regarding weight, pack dense (small and heavy) items in your personal bag. It's not likely to be weighed. A final tip, if you unzip your personal bag to remove a laptop or similar item, make sure you re-zip it. I didn't do that on my most recent tip and a TSA agent flipped my bag over and dumped out several thousand dollars of camera equipment! Fortunately, nothing was damaged.

    First comment is that you shouldn’t take tags off of things before you try them on. Because if they don’t fit then you can’t return them. Second, your liquids don’t expire per se. They may lose potency but they still work.

      Your sunscreen DOES expire. If you take SPF 50 sunscreen that is expired and expect it to work at that potency, it will not and you will burn more easily and sooner than expected. It's unpredictable how your sunscreen will have degraded, and how much, so it's better to just get new. It's different for things like shampoo or lotion.

And then I'll swap things out so toothpaste and toothbrush, lip balm, hand sanitizer - basically anything liquid but that I'll need during the flight is in my personal item. Once I'm at my location - liquids that I need in the shower (I stay in hostels mostly so have to go down the hall usually to bathe) go in one bag and all the other toiletries go in the other bag.

    Something you might experiment with someday is multi colored gaffer tape. (It is the photography version of duct tape.) Especially for labelling and organizing (color coordinating) electronics and cords. It doesn't leave any sticky residue like duct tape, and if you get multi colors they have a cloth backing that you can write on with a black sharpie. (Or get a white sharpie and write on black gaffer tape.)
    You will find 1,000,000 uses, I bet.

      @@KenshoQuestGreat. If you have lots of cords, like behind a t.v. or computer, you can code multiple colors of gaff together to increase the number of unique color combinations.
      I always put colored gaff tape on _both_ ends of any cords, so that they are super easy to uniquely identify when reaching/looking behind something with a mess of cords, or a crowded power outlet, or whatever.
      That little bit of time it takes to wrap coded tape around both ends of a cord pays off when trying to troubleshoot something later when you're in a hurry.

    Can you bring a message gun on your carry on bag????

  • @philipmullins6235
    @philipmullins6235 2 роки тому

    I always travel around the world with only 7 kilos of carry- on luggage and can extend it to 10 kilos if I travel on an airline that allows 10 kilos , I have noticed many people will have multiple cases for only a short trip packed with things that they will never use .
    I travel with light weight 100% cotton clothes that can be easily washed if require during my travels , I always carry a very light weight towel and face washer , I only travel with the shoes that I wear which have to be comfortable and if I am going to a cold country I wear a very thick coat which I can take off once I reach the airline , I also wear extra clothes on to the airline if my bags are slight over in weight .
    Some airlines are very fussy if your carry- on luggage which is only slightly over and they can take the luggage of you at the boarding gate and charge very high extra charges .
    One budget international airline that travels mainly through Asia charges $275 extra for any checked in luggage .
    Once I was going from Cairo to Copenhagen via London with a 10 hour stopover in London and British Airways wanted to take my 7 kilo carry- on luggage off me and put into the checked in luggage section and British Airways had a 20 kilo limit of carry-on luggage on that trip .
    The good thing about carry-on luggage only is that you will not get stranded on arrival at the airports without your luggage . Always try to board the plane early because the last passengers to board might find the luggage storage on the plane is full and the luggage has to go beneath the plane .
    The airlines on international travel only allow liquids or cosmetic to be in under 100 gram
    I know a female with very fair skin and blonde hair who went to India for a holiday she could not find any cosmetic or hair products to match her skin and hair in the shops anywhere so travelers should also carry items with them that they may not be able to buy in the local shops when they travel but they have to be less than 100 grams in weight .

    Is there a limit to just 1 ziplock bag for liquids? Can you pack more than one ziplock ( quart size) bag of liguids? One for make up and one for other essentials such as face creams, sunscreen and lotions?

    • @KenshoQuest
      @KenshoQuest 2 роки тому +1

      Yes. TSA rules within the USA limit liquids brought on board with the 3-1-1 rule. 3.4 oz containers, 1 quart bag, 1 bag per person. If you are traveling as a family and you combine liquids, you may be able to organize them that way. (I tend to use my kids "carry-on bag" allotment.) 🌺 Heidi

      There are different types of "travel insurance". There is travel medical insurance for if you get sick/injured. There is also "Trip interruption/cancellation" insurance. That's in case stuff hits the fan and you're forced to cut the vacay short, or you can't go at all. Sometimes this insurance will also include things for baggage (lost bag). Some credit cards have included insurance for travel (check the policy). Also, there is often the option to buy insurance when you purchase your airfare. Then there is (and maybe I'm wrong here) specific separate insurance for COVID. As for names? Do you mean companies that offer this type of insurance?

    Hasn't anyone ever heard of tea tree spray - it also comes in lotion to take care of smelly feet and shoes ?
    Wash and dry your feet, apply either the lotion on your feet, or spitz your feet with one quick spray, let it dry and then put your socks and shoes, or ladies, nylons on and your shoes
    The tea tree will smell strong at first, but the scent disappears shortly and you don't ruin your shoes nor stink up your clothing or luggage

    Avoid packing sharp, and I mean avoid any sharp objects of any material; plastics, metals, wood, even rubber: such as, hairpins, plastic cutlery, even smartphone chargers-(the prongs), etc, carelessly, ---not just the carry on, the luggage as well. Sometimes in the heat of travel, one forgets the contents of the bags or luggage, dips their hands in to grab stuff, and, ding!! a vicious stab that completely disorientates the person---removimg whatever fun there was in the trip, because one's then have to deal with the pain associated with skin puncture, worry about infections, and if the injury is serious, medical attention, ---and there's also the issue of unexpected expenditure and time lost tending whatever injury sustained.

    No- you should not pack vitamins in a container as you showed. Because if they check you in securiin ty or in customs -they could think it something else - oeven if what you claim it is. If they aren't sure and do not know what it is - they take it. They could take the whole bunch from you - because that has happen to me. Certain country is very very fuzzy about this. Its better to skip your vitamins or pack the just amount of them in their original package and then throw the container after the trips ending and before you enter the airport-then it doesnt take space anymore.
    . And also hope for the best that they still not snatch it. They could do it if they are unsure of the items. So its a friendly warning. Every second time i treval they take me in custom and the same amount in security check in. I dont know why but i never ever anymore take anything that could be suspious - even if it obvious it is not something fishy. Especially i Switzerland, Germany, Norway and Italy they are more suspious of any kind of pills.

    Wee story: My husband bought a dozen new Giordano Tees (all of the same design) before a trip. Didn’t want to try them on since he usually shops there. But first morning, found the neckline was so high it choked him. So we spent the first day at a mall, shopping for shirts LOL. Don’t do this through, especially for a solid man shopping in an Asian mall. Lucky they had a “cotton on” store with big sizes too.

    Prescription liquids and creams don't count toward your liquid limit unless you are traveling through Heathrow. They don't care that they are prescriptions. They require that your name be on the actual container which the pharmacies don't do.The pharmacies place your name and info on the boxes instead. Heathrow TSA agents are the worst about this. American ones are far more understanding.
