My flight was once delayed for over an hour because a passenger needed something urgently from their checked bag, so we all had to wait at the gate for the case to be dug out. After an hour, the staff keep asking what item they should bring from the bag and the passenger decided they didn’t actually need it after all. It was weird and I’m sure some people missed their connections that day 😕

I really like your travel tips channel, it is very informative, relevant, well-detailed, organized, and visually entertaining. I for one still consider myself a newbie when it comes to travel. Per TSA The TSA does not require you to have your medication in its original prescription bottle, so traveling with a pill case does not violate any rules. You will also generally not have to tell the officers about your medication unless it is a liquid.
With not packing coffee beans - it makes lot of . However, I suggest there is an exception to this. If you are flying into Darwin International Airport (very very small by international standards- more like a regional airport) Australia from Dili International Airport Timor Leste (even smaller), I think the quarantine and custom officers expect a certain number of passengers will be bringing coffee into Australia. Timor grows a lot of coffee. It it is very good, usually organic and cheap. I used to bring back 5 to 8 kilograms of coffee with me from Timor to give as gifts. Australia has very strict quarantine laws, and you are expected to declare any food items. However, I remember coming back into Darwin once to be greeted by one of the quarantine offices saying over and over again to the passengers arriving from Timor Leste, ‘ other than coffee, do you have any food items?’😊
I usually travel to the US for 3-4 months. So inside ziplock bags , I do remove the tablets and put one Full strip into that bag . After doing this with all my meds , I also put a current prescription from my physician. Never had any problems thus far. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Had an issue with a Delta flight back in the 1990s. Our bags were still in Atlanta which had only one flight to St. Thomas daily. My girlfriend was *mortified* to be wearing the same outfit she had on the day before. On the flight back, the same thing happened. If you can manage, include some jammies and a change of clothes in the carry-on as well as your meds.
we have learned how to do a 10 day vacation to the islands with carry-on bags. It was hard convincing the wife, but now she sees it's the best way to go! One carry-on and one shoulder bag for each of us!
I always have a set of underwear, socks and a t-shirt in my carry-on. That way I can get by until my bag arrives, I can go shopping with the voucher the airline gives me or wash out the ones I was wearing.
The tip about not packing coffee was priceless! i always bring my favorite coffee with me when I travel and often put it in checked bags. So now I know why my bag was always opened and inspected! Never again!
Interesting! I always have my meds in pill sorters so I don't forget if I took them or not, and I've never been asked about them on domestic OR international flights. I do mail order, and the bottles they come in are always huge and barely filled. They're in small round plastic sorters in my personal bag.
It's just luck. If Customs decides to search your bags and they find that sorter and you do not have the prescriptions, you WILL almost certainly have a problem. Even if none of them are narcotics, you will find yourself held in Customs for hours while they determine that.
Passengers are allowed to put prescription pills in other than original containers, such as tiny ziplock pill bags. I have traveled internationally as well as domestically (USA to Europe and within U.S.) last year (2022)and will be doing so again domestically a month from now and again internationally in 3 months. I do take the original labels and tape them to each tiny bag as proof they're my legally prescribed medications. It's always good to keep prescription info in one's personal item and labeling medication so there's no mixups. I haven't had any issues whatsoever in doing so with any U.S. based airline or that of another within Europe. I've only just recently discovered and subscribed to your channel so I'm catching up on this year and last year's vids☆ p.s. I do everything to save space and only travel with carry on and personal item no matter how long a trip. 👍
There are lead bags to put film in and ask for a manual inspection especially if its high speed film. Don't bring coca leaves back from Peru but you can bring coca tea back. No it doesn't get you high but it does help with altitude sickness. I think Canada opened up for U.S. fully vaccinated drivers so thank you Canadian people. Always a pleasure watching your vlog Megan.
When I did some professional photography in the pre-digital days, I would FedEx my unexposed films to my destination. After I shot 40 or 50 rolls, I would then FedEx those rolls to the lab I used for processing. Never had a problem. There are lead or barium lined bags to stash films in but I was told the scanner operator will just crank up the juice to get a better look, so best to demand a hand check.
One time I put my laptop in my check-in and they must have opened it via the keyboard cause the keys were broken and falling out. But then I got a wireless keyboard and now that I can place my laptop at eye level while having my arms at a 90 degree angle, it fixed my back pain. So it all worked out in the end 🙂
I enjoyed this and thought most of it was good. However, you can pack electronics in your case. I checked with US TSA and was told I could, indeed, put a PC into my checked bag if I chose to. I did after removing the cards and HDD and it did make it to the UK. My mother uses it to this day...

Once I was one of the last folks on the plane & they had no more overhead room on plane so they forced me to check in my rolling backpack with pc - was concerned whether I’d see that pc when I next saw my luggage. Also for small electrical items (epilator) I thought it was fine to put into checked luggage (& battery operated toothbrush).

Interesting. I've recently started on metylphenidate myself and am thinking of booking a holiday and don't know where to start with regards to getting my head around the rules.
I'm in Thailand. I have been going to the pharmacies looking for Valerian, which they usually have, but here on Samui everyone is saying, "You want Valium?" One also had ritalin in her OTC bag of tricks, but I don't think that would have helped me sleep.
I make sure that all of my suitcases have zippers on them, so that they can’t break them open but still get in. My bags have been randomly searched a few times.
Also, always put those items (electronics, travel documents, etc.) in a place in your hand luggage where you can easily take them out at the gate in case you need to check in your hand luggage there. It's helpful to know exactly where everything is for other uses too.
Thank you for awareness and very very good guide I am going to UAE to Pakistan before I am really very confused after this video I am very very happy and confidence thank you very much
My checked bag always gets searched. I fly 2-3 times a year and I have never had a flight that I didn’t get the little piece of paper that says it was random. I can’t figure out what would trigger it. It’s just clothing, toothbrush and toothpaste, a straightener, deodorant , and sometimes books or puzzle magazines. Nothing odd. What’s odd is that sometimes things go missing, like a random T-shirt or a sock.
I've given up on bringing any toiletries on the plane at all. When I land, I go get what I need, or the better hotels have all of it for me. That includes vapes as well. Some states, THC is legal, so dont bring that with you, just hit the dispensary when you land, and get what you want, but dont stock up, get what you think you will use during your visit, because you cant take THAT home with you, either. Just my experience.
Checking in in Munich for the US I was told that powdered items - in my case German pancake mix - is only allowed in quantities 12 oz. / 350 mL or below. I checked and TSA still allows larger amounts but quote: "must be placed in a separate bin for X-ray screening. They may require additional screening and containers may need to be opened. For your convenience, we encourage you to place non-essential powders greater than 12 oz. in checked bags."
Please revise this video. TSA does not care that your prescription medicine is in the original bottle or not. I'm cardiac and diabetic. All my medicine is in pill organizers. With the blister packs and the sheer quantity, if I didn't put my medicine in organizers, I would need a suite case to carry everything. I have also bring a printed copy of all my prescriptions. I always bring 2 weeks more medicine than I need in case we are stuck somewhere. Covid was a good example of that. Make life easy for TSA and for Customs officers. They have a hard enough time dealing with disgruntled travelers. If you have traveled a little, you know what questions you will be asked. Be prepared. Be polite. Don't lie cause they can tell if you do. Be early so there's no rush. If you can't be early, don't travel. Relax, you're on vacation. TSA and Customs are a part of that.

But I make sure to fully charge the laptop before leaving, so that it could used for emergencies. I generally don’t travel for work and the laptop is a just in case thing if needed to properly access internet banking etcetera, so this has been working for me so far. Don't be afraid with being searched. I packed that specific coffee along with other coffee, no problem at all. No search done. I have 8 checked bags. 1 bag full of coffee
The manner they are handled, damages or stolen isn't my main concern, please I just need to know if electronics allowed on check-in baggages or not? Because i am travelling with about 12 power banks, 3 laptops and some solar panels, they all aren't going to fit on my 7kg carry-on bag so i really need to know if it is allowed on check-in bags please
Decrease amt of every day / non expensive clothes (etc) by shipping to destination (usps, ups fedex, etc) and back rtn. If it's a hotel call them to give heads up and permission. Insure the stuff. Call your shipper choice to get estimate time to send. If holidays be prepared to ship even earlier. Most shipping this way can still cost less than extra baggage fees.
wow I have broken every single rule concerning electronics here, I have put cameras and chargers( no batteries though) in my check in bag every time I have travel international..so far so good...I guess I been lucky?
I do put some chargers in my checked bag, but those are from my underwater flashes. While the batteries go in the carry on (fun, 2 kg of batteries for those flashes), the flashes and the chargers go in a special hardcase as check-in bag. And if the flashes don't arrive, I don't really care about the chargers either as I can't do anything with only the batteries.
Hi there love ur videos🥰 just asking if its ok to bring vitamin C and Multivitamin (Centrum) about 6 bottles that i bought over the counter just for my family gift in overseas. Thanks
I had a 2 gallon bag of origional Rx bottles in my backback. I was trying to put back in my backpack and Delta charged me $25 because I had 3 bags. They could clearly see it was all medication. The pressure to hurry on plane i paid it was very ticked off at Delta!!
It pays off to have friends or family that know this knowledge kinda easy access of what or not expected in certain areas and what changes hey faster access than news or even Google 😉😀😄 so you won't make no no no remember each state is totally different and always be flexible unless you plan walking home or arrested 😉😊 so no drama queens hint hint for any travelers so where ever you go check your area where you plan to stay unless you want to have wrong communication and you only damage your own self 😉.

Hi Megan, I recently purchased an anker 20000mah prime power bank, do you know if it would be allowed on an AA flight from LAX to Sydney? Love your vlogs btw
I generally put all liquids in my carry on, small sizes. I find it a hassle to have to pull the qt size bag out at the TSA. What is your experience of putting small shampoos, lotions etc in checked bags? Thank you for a great video.
If I have to travel to a location where I have to bring my own shampoo and the like, I will take a bottle that I can actually tape with duct tape and even then put it in a ziplock bag inside your suitcase (don't forget to pack some tape for the return flight, unless you're leave the bottle).
Just an FYI, you will be very hard-pressed to find any alcohol that’s over 70% (140 proof). Even the heaviest single-barrel Bourbons and cask-strength Scotches are very rarely above 130 proof. Most typical liquors tend to be in the 80-90 proof (40-45% alcohol) range. To get above 140 proof, you’re basically talking about Everclear, and other fully distilled grain alcohol, which is relatively cheap, and has no regional flavor, so there’s really no need to travel with it anyway.
Flying on United Airlines in 3 days. Called the customer service department to ask if Vapers are allowed in checked bags. He said yes but not in carry on bags. You're saying the opposite is true. Don't know where to pack it now.
When security at arrival in Denmark. Xrayed my bag, the unusual look of a harmonica resulted in both my and my wife’s bags to be entirely searched. I thought it was pretty funny.
That is terrible. I don't understand why the airlines don't have the workers under strict camera observation if they know the workers are thieving peoples belongings. I haven't travelled before but I will be travelling from Australia to New York soon. So what do I do with a shoe box full of real and costume jewellry that I want to bring?

I brought food and drinks with me once and stood there for 30 min to talk my way out of it and it worked fine
Don't be afraid with being searched. I packed that specific coffee along with other coffee, no problem at all. No search done. I have 8 checked bags. 1 bag full of coffee
Okay...i think i am impressed with your content🥺💕
This helped me extremely! Thank you!!!!!
I am a huge fan of Anker products. They are a must for travelers.
This video is amazing..i adore your content..its so helpful. Thank you so much ❤❤❤
The manner they are handled, damages or stolen isn't my main concern, please I just need to know if electronics allowed on check-in baggages or not?
Because i am travelling with about 12 power banks, 3 laptops and some solar panels, they all aren't going to fit on my 7kg carry-on bag so i really need to know if it is allowed on check-in bags please
oh my god i'm traveling with film tomorrow and you may have saved my life hahah! thank you!
I bring Lysol or Clorox wipes in pouches in carry on - not considered a liquid
Great idea, Annette!
Thanks for the details on the thc situation!
Please tell what are the prohibited electronic items in check in baggage
Nothing with a battery is allowed
Been on planes over 10 times in the last decade,I have never NOT been selected for a random search…
We are going on a cruise with a stop in Colombia. I plan on bringing back 2-3 packages of coffee. Should I bring them in my carry on?
Always good advice. Thank you.
wow I have broken every single rule concerning electronics here, I have put cameras and chargers( no batteries though) in my check in bag every time I have travel international..so far so good...I guess I been lucky?
Yes you have and obviously a good packer.
My God !! I remember how upsetting it was to deal with film. Even bringing them in carry-on bags, sometimes they were damaged. A nightmare !!
Thank you, great advice
Glad you think so!
Can i carry shower gell and lotion, tooth paste thats bigger than the carry on limit ?in my checked in luggage
Complaints of QANTAS not delivering luggage such as London without clothes.
How about Dunkin coffee with plastic container is it okie?? Especially in Saudi Arabia?
how about an alarm clock? do you know what TSA does if you have an alarm clock in your checked bag?
I take batteries out.

Very helpful. Thanks.
I've had a bottle of rum break in my checked bag. Went to hard side luggage right after that!
I must have been lucky as I have soft luggage.
Thank you for the chuckles, too.
Invaluable tips 🎯
Thanks
Is big bottle og shampoo and toothpaste allowed? In check in?
Thanks , can you speak about perfume thanks God bless you.
I brought a power bank 30000mAh on a flight(checked) to Germany , plus a small benchmark pocket knife without any issues.
Thank you for making me discover the Nano phone charger ! Comes in very hand! ; )
Great! Happy travels!
Thanks, this is very helpful.
That is so funny. I just mentioned to TSA yesterday, there's so many rules to know what to put in, and what to not put in a bag now. As I only know of this video 1 yr later, lol... Also. You are very pretty. Ty for video.
Checked Bag: Empty
Also do not pack boxed chocolates in checked bag. They get stolen, melted or sampled.
Thanks
Stolen chocolates? Sampled chocolates? That is insane! How the hell are these criminal workers keeping their jobs? They need cameras on them immediately! I am scared to put my beautiful costume jewellry in my bags now. : (
Great tips and video thanks
Thanks for the video. It was very informative. I love your one-piece btw. It’s really cute. 😊❤️
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching!
Cheers for this. So can e-cigs and vapes just go in carry on luggage?

Hi Megan, I recently purchased an anker 20000mah prime power bank, do you know if it would be allowed on an AA flight from LAX to Sydney? Love your vlogs btw
2:55 _"You are okay to bring a bomb with you, though; just make sure it is thoroughly cleaned."_
Good to know!
Hey Megan oops in the video when your passport almost falls out so adorable.
Flying on United Airlines in 3 days. Called the customer service department to ask if Vapers are allowed in checked bags. He said yes but not in carry on bags. You're saying the opposite is true. Don't know where to pack it now.
I fly all the time. I always put my vapor in carry on

Can I carry glycolic acid (toner) and powder scrubs in checked baggage?
When security at arrival in Denmark. Xrayed my bag, the unusual look of a harmonica resulted in both my and my wife’s bags to be entirely searched. I thought it was pretty funny.
You should have played them a tune after.😂
good job love the dog
Very good
Don't pack anything you don't want stolen
That is terrible. I don't understand why the airlines don't have the workers under strict camera observation if they know the workers are thieving peoples belongings.
I haven't travelled before but I will be travelling from Australia to New York soon. So what do I do with a shoe box full of real and costume jewellry that I want to bring?
