  • Mieke deJong, Farm Manager for her family's two dairies, Bonanza View Dairy and Windy Ridge Dairy in Southern Oregon. The deJong family has been a Versa Corporation customer since 1999. They currently own and operate two ID1014 Versa Baggers for their Organic Dairy operations.
Previous to purchasing a Versa Silage Bagger, their process was to store the silage for their dairy cows in large piles covered by plastic and tires, which was the accepted practice for storing silage, along with large, upright silos. Versa Silage Baggers compact their chopped feed into long plastic silo bags stored horizontally on the ground. This method immediately removes the oxygen in the bag and immediately starts the fermentation process, sealing in the maximum nutritional value, much like canning fruit or vegetables in air-tight jars. Silage bagging is the ideal mobile solution that allows farmers to store their feed whenever and wherever in 8′, 9′, 10′, 12′ or 14′ bags up to 500ft long.
Pits, Piles or Bunkers can have as much as 30% loss due to spoilage, while Versa packed bags have almost 0% dry matter storage loss. Bagging increases the Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN) for better herd health, increased milk production in Dairy cows and increased weight gain in Beef Cattle. Bagging allows farmers to package and separate higher moisture silage and byproducts into individual, sealed bags and store in convenient locations without expensive building structures.
Silage Bagging is a cost-saving investment - saving feed, money and storage space.
Unlike bunkers, pits, silos or piles, Silage Bagging is also a green harvesting technology that reduces volatile organic compounds produced and released into the atmosphere.
Versa Corporation has been building Silage Bagging and Handling Equipment for over 40 years. No other Bagger has the level of exclusive advancements contained in a Versa Bagger. They are designed to be the easiest to set up, maintain and consistently pack all types of material in all conditions. They are also built to last. The unique Concave Chrome-Hardened Rotor Teeth alone have bagged more than a million tons of feed without needing to be replaced. Almost all of the baggers that Versa built over 20 years ago are still working hard today. It is easy to see why more tons of silage are bagged with Versa Baggers than any other in the World.
