The Gen is more on the performance side not quite luxury so keep that in mind when you talk about the interior. You own a BMW so could be a bit bias. I own a Gen and yes the interior might not be topnotch but for what the car has to offer i'm not complaining. The transmission, hands down i would say go with the auto if it's such a prob with the manual. Traction control i understand what you're saying but at the same time i believe is more of a safety feature even tho if can be just a tad annoying for the experience drivers fooling around. Overall i feel that when it comes to cars, the Gen offers more bangs for your money. Get the 2.0T if you want to mod, cheaper assurance (most of the time) and save a tad bit on gas, and get the 3.8 if you want good enough power and don't care too much about mods(you can still mod but yes it's limited). The Gen is a SEXY car (up to the 2012's lol not a fan of the front change on the 2013-2016 :/ )
dreamerguy91 well said I have a 11 and people don't seem to understand the concept of these cars and too it's the best bang for your buck when you decide to stop paying attention to what ppl think. I got a 2.0t and I love smoking other cars and making people feel ashamed of losing to an Hyundai
I got the 07 tiburon se only thing I don't like bout this car is the power dont know why they kept the same engine since 03. I def want a genesis tho hopefully my next car
Love bot bk1’s and bk2’s the looks on them are very very sexy I own a 2011 Genesis Coupe 2.0t and one thing I don’t like is that the Genesis has like a 2nd gear lock cause sometimes I struggle when I try to get into 2nd gear I have to like pull it to get it into 2nd but overall it’s amazing. Edit: The gas will be gone really fast! That’s another thing I don’t like.
Is the car loud with stock exhaust? i personally hate loud.... Im coming from a saab 93 that had many mods and totaled... Im wanting the genesis... even on stock it seems loud inside and out. I dont want a car that sounds like a honda. EVerything else i love about the genesis. Please let me know.
The big problem seems to be that Hyundai doesn't seem to be consistent in their quality control. My 3.8 shifts flawlessly, no wiggle or free play in the shifter, and I don't notice the brake fade in the Brembos; although I brake with the engine most of the time because I really like to listen to that engine roar through my aftermarket exhaust. I bought my 2010 in 2014, and it had been abused a little, but there was no chipping of that cheap chrome; still no chipping, but I think if it did start to chip I would just paint it black. The cheap plastic doesn't bother me, but then I didn't buy the car for its interior. Although I've noticed that women love this car's interior space. Way more than they would a 350 z which is cramped and a rough ride. This is the best of both worlds imo. Sporty yet comfortable for the long haul. I've cruised mine across the country with no discomfort whatsoever. It's my daily driver as well, and there's no shortage of people giving me the thumbs up even though it looks basically stock. They're pretty rare. I can drive from one end of the country to the other and not see more than one or two, and even then, they're almost always going to be the 2.0 turbos. The traction control is lame, but read the manual. It will let you know what the trick is to deactivate it.
Use a LIGHT TOUCH on the shifter and you will be rewarded with smooth shifts. If you try to force it, it will fight you and grind. Mine has improved with age as well. Yes, the factory traction control is complete BS and will literally put you through the windshield when it kicks in. Get the SFR flash and pull all of that traction control BS out. The SFR flash if you ask them will also take the ridiculous time lag out of the drive-by-wire accelerator pedal. The stock setup actually seems like it has almost a full half second or so from the time you push the pedal until the engine revs. You can actually push the pedal and release it quickly and have the pedal already returned to the starting position before the engine even starts to rev. I"m not sure which engineer thought this was a good idea, but they need to find that guy and fire him. In order to accurately control a car the throttle response needs to be sure and crisp, not loose and spongy. Yes, the chrome and semi-gloss finishes in the interior don't wear well. However, the car itself is well engineered. I bought one of the first 2013's imported (March 2012) and mechanically it has been bullet-proof. The fake hood vents are a little weird. I wonder what would happen if you cut them out and made them functional (I'm halfway kidding here, but it might help engine cooling, who knows?). The brakes are fine for me, as I don't push the entry into corners to the limit, although I've had noticed a bit of fade at times. The stock brake rotors rust if someone a block away spits on the sidewalk. Any suggestions on better rotors and pads would be appreciated.
@@fatdomgomiello720 I put the EBC Yellow brake kit all around on mine (rotors and pads) and love them! Don't know how they'll wear, but they stop leaps and bounds better than the stock brakes.
I had my Genesis for 2 years. Cheap plastic didn’t bother me. Transmission felt ok. Traction control cuts power off completely for like a second or two when it detects wheelspin, which sometimes can be dangerous. I had a ‘12 3.8 Track and only added a Magnaflow cat back. It sounded great. Not very loud, but nice and deep sound. Didn’t want anything else. Brakes were pretty good. Traded it in for a ‘14 5.0 Mustang which I kind of regret now but life happens lol. Mustang is a fun car and I enjoy it too, especially the V8 sound. Wish I could have both lol
I almost bought a Genesis Coupe 3.8 Ultimate a few years ago, but decided to wait for something better since I noticed that there weren't available mods.
Got a 3.8 track black and just put in a full exhaust system and a back window wing and i get compliments and looks all the time. i like the white lettered tires!
Yup the traction control is annoying af it bogs out at a certain speed when ur going fast so you don’t loose traction control a simple tune can fix it tho
Traction control is suppose to keep you on the road and not make you spin out when you go fast so if it slows you down when you attempt to speed then its common sense. Not bashing on your video or anything I am just saying. Thats kind of like trying to run in steel toe boots instead of running shoes. :| Stupid comparison but hopefully you get it
2010 Genesis coupe 3.8 #1 issue the god damn Traction Control, if I try to take someone at a light it comes on every time I step on it. After that I’d say the rev hang is the 2nd most annoying thing but like you said they are sexy cars man I get compliments all the time and everyone thinks it’s new even though it’s a 2010 lol
I have a bk2 with the 8 speed and driving with the paddles is a blast they are super responsive and it doesn’t make Highway driving too bad with loud exhaust chilling in 8th gear and with full bolt on a and a tune on my 3.8 it’s 340whp and 300 wtq which is pretty nice :) I also love my breaks I’m not sure if the bk1s have different breaks but my car stops on a dime and does it flawlessly :))

Things to do to a genesis. First.. Don't buy a 2.0 go with a 3.8.. 1.gut interior 2.bucket seats 3.remove traction control 3.replace plastic belt tensioners to metal 4.short throw 5. Straight pipe or an actual exhaust. 6.trans bushings . 7.flash ecu 8. Turbo it. Bam, you have the best car ever

I don't know about the 3.8,but on the 2.0 the rev hang is so bad the car's about undriveable. Second is awful traction control that simply closes the throttle with any wheel spin. Third is the touchy brake pedal. Above and beyond all this, actually, is that I had to buy a $1400 Haltech ECU just to be able to tune it.

Genesis Coupe BK1 sucks. BK2 with paddle shifters is way better. More features and more quality. I would have got the manual but the transmission was too janky.
Must have bought a shitty genesis bro. Never had any transmission problems with my car plus if you keep your car clean and take care of it you're not gonna have any chrome flaking off.
3 months ago I bought a 2016 3.8 with 80 miles on it. The car never sold off the dealership. The dealership had the car so long they had to buy it outright from the manufacturer. So I got it certified pre-owned. That’s as close to a new one you will ever get. Only down side is I had to get a new battery. Which is common if a car sits a lot.

True but not at the same time . BK2 is awesome with engine and interior but Im in love with the front end of bk1. All opinions though 😁
Meanwhile I'm here in my boosted G35 throwing people off guard on the streets 😈😂😂
What do you think of the 2.0t for a daily?
Nice! The 2.0t would be real nice just get the second generation one, ( bk2) Not hard to get 400whp out of it.
Listen what kind of rims and wheels do you have they are sick
Traction control does suck eggs tho #always drive with it off
Genesis Coupe BK1 sucks. BK2 with paddle shifters is way better. More features and more quality. I would have got the manual but the transmission was too janky.
Drewism bk1 sucks? Lmao
These are more like annoying features not reasons not to buy
Must have bought a shitty genesis bro. Never had any transmission problems with my car plus if you keep your car clean and take care of it you're not gonna have any chrome flaking off.
@CarterKlukken I don't have problems with it. It is just not good quality. Also the chrome is a recall. Known to flake and peel. Unfortunately
Give it a thumbs down but your in love with the car.
Bro buy what you want
Sell it and get a G37/370z. There’s like a Walmart of aftermarket parts for those cars.
why not i love genesis coupe..... im not rich
You can't buy one new.....they dont make them anymore
servingmrfloyd i know last model was a 2016 i think.
Which is common if a car sits a lot.
bullshit with the ESP! you turn it off, it is off! unless you turn your car off/on again
That's how mine is tbh... Is off until I turn my car off
Thanks I almost made a mistake
I love my genny
💆♀️나도 튜닝된거 사면 좋겠다
Lmao hey ik where u live, I've seen that genesis, u live literally 1 minute away from me. I just got the 2.0 T
oh dang! Awesome man, Enjoy the car bro
