Update: I’ve sunk in over 5 hours of this game so far and I’m blown away by the results coming from the OG Xbox one. Anybody else getting it on the same platform will not be disappointed.

Only slightly, primarily a 7-8% increase in CPU clock speed. This is primarily leveraged to successfully run the HDR lighting and the upscaling to 4K. Not native 4K, but the Xbox one S does look a little bit better on a 4K TV than the base console because it has a very nice built-in upscaler.

Is it just me or the only difference I am seeing is the color temperature. Looks warmer to the S and cooler to the X. Or maybe its because of the dynamic weather feature? Anyway, both looks good to be honest.
It's the dynamic weather unfortunately, for most shots we were able to perfectly sync them up, but there was the odd occasion where the game would simply not play ball.
It haves diferent weather but the res is completely diferent. X looks way better than the base models.

The only difference is things like the ones shown in this video, like the water in both, hat and left side of the jacket on Arthur, the Xbox One don't have that level of detail, but even so, the game looks fucking beutiful. I don't own a console but this game just make me wanna buy at least an Xbox One to be able to play it. It's rumored they going to release the game for PC, but I don't want to wait for near two years like I did to play GTAV on PC lol.

@FERMINDAL 60fps is fine. Have a TV with high refresh rate or black frame insertion and you wont see ghosting. You can get close to a plasma with black frame insertion. People underestimate refresh rates.

I play Red Dead 2 on the Xbox One S, and it looks great and performs good, just good. The FPS lock is at 30, and that 30 holds quite well anywhere where there isn't tons of scenery to be loaded in. The FPS suffers quite a bit when I'm in Saint Denis or Blackwater, otherwise, though, the Xbox One S is a great choice for Red Dead.

You can get a One S brand new w/ a controller for $190 on ebay now (used for about $150-160). 4k BR/media player, and a solid gaming console. The value is off the charts. Are you going to get top notch graphics? Of course not, but for $190? It's a great deal, and games look great on pretty much any machine this generation imo.
i did this and got a "grade B" refurbed. came with a controller for £170 and seems practically new. the fan isnt loud so it's def been cleaned. apparently it was hardly used but eh its quiet enough and game pass ultimate for £2 for 2 months is so good.

They all look really good and at times the S and X look identical. Since the one X dosent run a true native 4k but something close to it still looks super good!
Absolutely incredible up-scaling on the One S. To the point where the average person may not know the difference between it and the X depending on where you are in the game. I mean, many of us have been saying this from the beginning, but let it be known: The One S's upscaling is better than even the built-in scaling on the highest quality TV's you can buy. That's no joke.
Bought the X specifically for this game! It's unbelievable how good it looks. The volumetric lighting is the best I've ever seen. Totally solid fps too.
I´ve got it on the One S. Objects at distance are a bit blurry. It doesn´t look bad, Witcher 3 level I would say. My biggest issue is that the framerate drops in the bigger cities. It´s a bit of a downer. Other than that, amazing game.

I'm sure there is but I can't see it, maybe its my eyes, maybe its watching on a small screen which isn't even plugged in via hdmi but at the moment I can't see it. Maybe if I had a 4k TV and X1X to compare it, I could but not till then. I can't afford the game anyway for probably a few yrs anyway.
The base Xbox and Xbox S is not 1080p its 9 something but the Xbox x is in 4k just watched it on digital founder the difference between all the consoles

They've done a really good job on optimising the game on the OG Xbox One & One S. Would not upgrade consoles for such a small graphics difference. (Especially if you had a One S with a HDR Enabled TV)
I'm sticking with by Xbox one. It looks great and I don't feel like buying a new TV too.
the hair on the mans head is not a selling point for the x. The problem you end up noticing on the x in general is that things like that look better and sharper, but it's still stiff. Pro is the same thing. Yeah they look better, but the static nature of most things is also more apparent because they are so sharp and in focus.
Not only is it a solid 30 fps, but the One X version is running w/4K textures & at native 4k!

30 fps shouldnt be considered "solid" by today's standards. 30 is mediocre for a game designed entirely for this gen. i'm playing the game rn and the frames dip like crazy in as small of a town as valentine. i cant wait to see what happens when i get to st denis. its gonna be a shit show. they need to just release it for pc so i can actually run this game like how its supposed to.
We're talking 30 fpses on an open world console game w/max settings, though. If this were a PC game, you'd have a point, but it's not. A "solid 30 fps" framerate for this type of game is standard on a console.
i guarantee you that the settings for the current console version arent really max settings. id bet its medium-high (thats generous) with heavy AA, vsync, and upscaling. the 30 fps still dips into the 15-low 20s in cities. its really disappointing honestly. don't get me wrong the game is great and has so much detail but I just feel like they kinda dropped the ball for console optimization. 30fps (and lower) is still mediocre in 2018, console or not, period.
The only thing I can really notice is the grass but that doesn't really matter as long as you're sitting far away from the TV

Xbox One S seems like the perfect one for me. It's sharp enough and detailed enough but still very cinematic while Series X is too clean.....

I think I'm more upset about the fact that the Xbox One regular and S version only ouput 864p. How is it that the X version didn't need any downscaling but the S version was considered weak enough to require downscaling it a bit? I know there's a world of difference between Forza Horizon 3's 1080P and 30 FPS and RDR2, but it seems to me they could at least have given non-X owners 1080P resolution. It honestly should be standard these days. The Xbox One isn't an Xbox 360 that it still can't output at the MINIMUM 1080P. Although that probably explains why even the X is an improvement on 1080P TVs, since it allows the game to at least be ouput at 1080P as opposed to lower resolutions. I would assume. Did they say how how the resolution is on the X on a 1080P TV?

Cool. I tried Horizon 4 with the game pass but got bored. I only play single player games though anyway. Like when RDR2 online hits I won't be trying it, just like to this day I've never played GTAV online.
It looks like they optimized it for the S but not the X, so the X is basically running it like the OG would. Honestly the difference is pretty negligible, as an OG owner this doesn’t make me feel like upgrading is worth it.

I have a 4K tv with the Xbox one s running 4K up scalling. The s is a big jump from the Xbox one in quality and for the half the price of the Xbox one x, you can’t go wrong cause the quality is so hard not to be disappointed.

To reduce blurriness on base Xbox one or one s turn the sharpness all the way up in the settings menu of the game

The difference is that the X is running the game at Native 4k with HDR , and the base Xbox One and S are unfortunately running the game at 864p . So the Xbox one has the best and worst version of RDR 2 at the same time . As a Xbox owner I unfortunately have to say that .

Buying an Xbox for Dolby Vision and Atmos support in Netflix... Question is, is it worth the steep price hike for the X over the S ? I mean, games look better but... that is a huge price difference for graphics that may only be noticed when compared side-by-side.

Well today I went on a shop I thought to buy Xbox one s in stead of what I needed. They had xb1 s- xb1 x- PS 4- PS 4 pro line up. So I saw them all. The difference even from xb1 s to PS 4 was noticeably big on 40"(864p Vs 1080p). Now imagine the difference on 4k. Let alone having a 55" TV like I have. I am going for the x next week, worth clearly the difference I saw in action. Don't hesitate to sell both and go for X. Even if you don't have 4k you will have 60fps which believe me is huge difference from 30fps the movement is far more smooth and clear.
just build a pc instead if you know what your doing you can build a 4k machine for £600-800 with some 2nd hand parts. also the consoles only have 30fps so you could get double with a 1060gtx and a half decent i7

I never usually notice framerates because I've been a console gamer all my life but on the og xbox it's so noticable because the graphics are so good, so its extremely jarring even you look around and it's so choppy. Not to mention everything is very washed out and low definition at far distances. Really makes me want to buy an xbox one x

Monster Hunter World runs at 864p with worst graphics and unestable Framerate on Xbox one, so it's fine that this game runs at 864p and mostly stable performance on the base Xbox One, and I enjoy it, is the same thing that happens with the original Red Dead Redemption on PS3 wich have lower resolution than 720p and blurried AA and sells pretty well and was a 10/10 Game. Resolution doesn't matter to enjoy this beautiful game

The One S and the One are the same except HDR on One S. Both runs @ 1536×864p
So does RDR2 take advantage of the HDR? also, is it possible with a patch to up the resolution to 1080 or is that not possible?

O xbox one x tem mais detalhes na textura, mas em ambientes claros, o xbox one s tem mais vantagem, pois da tem mais brilho de sua roupa e da textura por causa do sol, pra quem gosta de apreciar a textura e detalhes bem feitos, o xbox one x é mais doque perfeito, mas se vc gosta de ver a ambientação e um grafico mais alegre e claro, o xbox one s seria uma otima escolha

Interesting. Are they all capped at the same FPS and resolution? X looks better overall, but in some scenes there's hardly any difference. HDR seems to make a nice difference in some pics; way more colors presented in the S and X compared to the One.

Got the One X today... and RDR2 I gotta say, this game is astonishingly beautiful. Extremely impressive and after trading in my OneS and getting the special deal Gamestop is running, I saved 200$ on this OneX. That’s right. Worth it.

I'm not an afficianado of the ins and outs of specific graphic details in games but are the colour temps not the most obvious difference between the 3? Also, I think the XB-S looks like the better of the 3 overall. On close ups, yeah it's obvious that the newer consoles have a detailed advantage over the XB1 but there aren't that many games I play where I would be able to appreciate the difference.
This game is native 4k on the x? That's crazy. The next consoles should hit 4k natively if this is the case.
I bought the game for my base Xbox one and I think it looks great (except from the hair on some characters heads. It look like they haven’t washed it in years, but I see the same on the other consoles in comparison videos)

Playing on the OG Xbone on a 4K tv, things like horse tails and distant trees are so jaggy and fuzzy. The game still looks great, but this really bothers me. Anyone have it like this or do I have sometime configured wrong perhaps?
