Devastated by the second fatality in my community. Riverside County has it's share of issues as many counties these days do, but we've gotta stop taking lives. This is heartbreaking. Officer Cordova Officer Calhoun. RIP 😢

As someone who has lived around there their whole life (Temecula/murrieta) it’s because it attracts a lot of poor people and many poor people = criminals. Also because of how many apartments there are. Once again, they attract criminals. If there would be more housing instead of apartments, the amount of crime would probably go down.
I've been here for over 20 years. People considered it more of a "safer city" but now I believe it's way too many people here and they continue to build more houses and apartments and attracting more people and now look what's happening, more crimes. Crazy

Sending lots of prayers and thoughts and support and love to all of the deputy's family and friends and the sherifs department. 2nd one in just two weeks it has to stop! They just went through the grieving and mourning. And now they are once again saying goodbye to another great man.
And also know how it feels I'm from Canada and we lost 6 police offices in just 4 months. (Sept. -dec.) Which is unusual for Canada.

America currently has a mix of dangerous elements in which make crime and violence is so rampant. First we are the only country in the world that has more guns than people. Add the fact that we also lead the world in anti depressant medications and other mental illness pills along with the Covid pandemic and record high inflation. The stress, mental issues and easy access to firearms is leading to all this violent chaos. It also doesnt help that we have a legal system that doesnt hold anyone accountable anyone.

Average life expectancy of a cop is 60. I’ll never understand why we make such a big deal over the death of someone who was only supposed to live 5 years longer than people in the poorest country in Africa.
First, this man was 30. So no, not just 5 years. Second, there is conflicting evidence. Some studies show lower, some show higher, some show no statistical difference in life expectancy. Third, the fact that you show no empathy says more about your view of law enforcement than it does about your bogus rationalization for not feeling empathy for the unjust death of this man.
